The new government in Australia may be seeking to get Julian Assange back to Australia but if they are it will be done quietly without any publicity to avoid a lot of opposition in the US. I think PM Albanese meant it when he expressed support for Assange but you don't get what you want from "great powers" by shouting at them. For days while his distraught family looked for him , he was subjected to the most horrendous physical and mental torture that mirrored the torture of political prisoners in repressive Middle Eastern regimes . In the mean time the police raided the house of his driver ,who had gone into hiding and arrested his wife and ten months old daughter .
When Imran Khan spoke against these injustices and gross violation of human rights , he was charged under the “Terrorism Act” and also “Contempt of Court”. BUT and a BIG BUT, if you are being true with your judgement you will understand he was only in power for about 1 and a bit years and the military "usually" dictates what happens, so he has not only had a very short window to try and make changes, but OUTSIDE of the office he has infact highlighted that change IS ESSENTIAL and he's become the lightning rod for that change. So to me this is the important part with him.

Russia agrees to the terms but, by choice, fails to implement the requirements and chooses to default on the loan. And Russia has a nasty habit of using IMF funds to invade nations.
