if I was being exiled and could only take 5 CD's with me, this would definitely be one of em. the EP even, not just it included on one of the bigger reissues. these 4 songs are fkn perfect together, man I listened to this so many times in the mid 90s, especially one year in summer school (some of us were regular slackers and not the art school types heh)
on a major? sort of? i think, and i love them, just cant deliver live. i skipped em to go to a punk show, they came back a few years later and later that night we forgot we had seen them!! Grifters shoulda been twice as big. much better./ this cover was stolen from a 70s band...Ambergris, and drawn on./
Fantastic... Cant imagine how Malkmus remembers the lyrics singing Pavement songs in concert. So Many Lyrics just endlessly pouring out. Pavement are Velvet Undergrounds weird California second cousins?
its a synth of some sort with a lot of distortion. its a great sound. maybe this is a reference thats a little late for most pavement fans but it reminds me of some of the ambient noises in minecraft
Certainly was. U can also hear him on the first attempt to record CR/CR (9 or so songs?) on the Reissue. But yes, the last official release with Gary Young.
I was given a Tiddly-Wink (little plastic disc) by Gary Young, outside the Leeds Town & Country Club, when they supported Sonic Youth on the Dirty tour. He was just generally being odd at the entrance door. Seemed a nice bloke.
honestly, they should have had sue me jack, greenlander, and so stark on this as well but, even without those songs this EP is probably my favorite pavement release. :)
Great upload! Track 3 is titled "Feed Them to the (Linden) Lions", though. It's amazing how many places still get that wrong after all these years, even professional outlets like allmusic!
lions (linden) Every building same height Every street a straight line Team colour's yellow and blue Cheerleaders single file Perfect smiles unaffected And you won't forget Our colour's blue No you won't forget it Twenty miles westwards Home of the Redbirds Team colour's crimson blue Open up your purses For the boys to reimburse us With a goal line stand on 4th and 2 And that goal line stand Ha! Distressor-Whirr, Barely Real - Codeine, Strawberry Wine - MBV, People - Animal Collective, Arizona Record - Silver Jews, Aske - Burzum some of my favs^^
The only thing I think of when I hear this album is that art school is a waste of money
;,(
most colleges are a waste of money - ask stephen, he majored in history!
carl hasse your a dick
carl hasse anyone can go to art school, we’re all special after all aren’t we after all in the after all?
But not the Preston School of Industry (and Architecture)
This is their best release. Just four songs, who cares. Put it on repeat.
unquestionably!
wowee zowee better
And the other three songs from the same session.. Sue Me Jack, Greenlander...
YOU ARE CORRECT SIR!
seriously some of their best stuff in their whole catalogue on this one
the drum fill at 2:44 is my spirit animal.
Yes!
Gary had some neat fills for sure. I think that's mainly what really differentiates him from West.

For everyone who had this 12" vinyl masterpiece back in the early 90s, and absolutely wore it out on their budget stereo!
Best EP Ever.. Best Indie Rock Band...

this EP holds up even now...and beyond
I can't believe how much of my life was shaped by 11:30
The opening guitar feedback tape loop? thing at the beginning of Texas never whipers is one of heh most beautiful sounds ever recorded.

In the morning light, I hold my ashtray TIGHT as well.

The Best EP ever.
Linden... Never has a track benefited more from the drummers contribution. Gary Young take a bow!
That’s Steve west
@@SuperShhitTalk It was the last record with Gary as drummer
Certainly was. U can also hear him on the first attempt to record CR/CR (9 or so songs?) on the Reissue. But yes, the last official release with Gary Young.
Gary Young's drumming rocks on this EP!!

You are describing slanted and enchanted lux and redux
God Greenlander on this would be insane
I can't think of a better EP!
No doubt the best EP I ever heard, but Archers of Loaf Vs. the Greatest of All Time is super-excellent as well.
I couldn't agree more
I had a chance to do sound for Archers of Loaf once. Totally professional and gracious.
Royal Trux 3 Song EP - Run Shaker
Chronic Town
There were so many great ep's at that stage. Everyone really spread their wings on these EPs. Grifters, Polvo, Superchunk, Archers, etc.
Brillante.
One of the best eps ever. Thanks for the post 👏👏👏
every time one of Pavement's videos gets disliked, Stephen Malkmus becomes aroused
Dr: You have 11 minutes and 29 seconds to live.
Welp...
a real moment
Pure happiness.
Fuzz+noise its ma soul
Most 90s bands with an EP would fuck around on the last track like Lilys Brief History of Amazing Letdowns
