      Project Status and Process
      Project Status
The SW 10th Street Connector project will take approximately 7 years to complete, including final design, permitting, and construction, and is currently on track to begin these activities by Fall 2024. The contractor team will begin by planning out all the construction activities, sequencing of work, and the entire project construction timeline. The pre-construction implementation planning phase will analyze the timing and sequencing of construction for the I-95 at SW 10th Street Interchange and the rest of the SW 10th Street corridor to the west. The intent is to identify which parts need to be constructed first for the most efficient work plan. The major roadway and bridge reconstruction activities are not expected to begin before 2026.
As the pre-construction planning work begins, FDOT will implement advanced traffic management and optimization technology, also known as “Smart Roads,” on select state roads surrounding the construction area. These technology advancements will support safe and efficient mobility in the area, helping to mitigate construction phase traffic congestion on I-95 and SW 10th Street.
Currently, advance utility relocation work is being performed on the north and south side of SW 10th Street between Powerline Road and Military Trail. The existing FPL transmission poles along the north side of SW 10th Street are being removed and replaced with lower height FPL distribution poles as part of clearing the right of way to accommodate the proposed noise barrier wall along the north side of the roadway. In addition, the FPL Transmission poles on the south side of SW 10th Street are being relocated to accommodate the SW 10th Street connector lanes and reconstructed local SW 10th Street lanes.

Bicyclists and pedestrians should not have to share a narrow sidewalk!
