Really helps understand, what this wasn't really a town, but a very segnificant city of its day; a rich city (walls, forum, temples, theaters so on).. likely of a significant cultural influence, given its proximity to Rome, as an indigenous Roman city. As such, the psychological consequences of its violent and sudden destruction on Rome and the Hellenistic world at large, must have been of segnificance, and is likely very underestimated.
