    Maybe on female vocal it would benefit to put that air protecter to give slight high end muffling. This sounded bit bright.

    I don't doubt this girl can sing well, but yall should've given her multiple takes to warm up or something.

      Yeah, some people like the bright high end of the C414. I'm recording a Flamenco guitarist right now, and the C414's definitely work better to bring out the top end. Or if you have a singer with a naturally warm character. Rappers like them too because you get a really crystal clear top end. I still like the OC18 more for general purpose stuff. I'll probably buy a 2nd one so I can demo them on drums and do stereo recordings.

      @@MusicTechHelpGuy Actually with the feature set of the OC 818 now, i think I will buy the 1000 dollar AA with its more options. So yes AA all the way!

      Yeah, she is a bit at some spots. However, because it was a mic shootout, I didn't want to unintentionally color the tone of her voice with artifacts, so I intentionally did not tune her vocals for these demos.

    Be good to hear the vocals without the guitar.

    This microphone's C12 capsule has nothing in common with the original CK12. Neither does the new AKG C12 as it utilizes a $100 Chinese capsule. The transient's attack rise of amplitude is very slow here, thereby lacking the spank of it's vintage siblings. On top of that, the slightly dull treble response will make difficult for the vocal track to sit on top of the mix.

      @@rudolfwormstall1196 Unfortunately for you, you don't even know your own ears. The OC18 sounds fantastic, takes EQ well if needed and is not "slower" than any other quality LDC. Even people with "one year in the business' know that a small diaphragm conderser mic is recommended If faster transients are wanted. - For £499 at Thomann the OC18 offers a superb quality-to-price ratio . . and a purchase also supports an Austrian company that is designing and manufacturing their own mic capsules. . to the contrary to wannabe microphone brands like Peluso, ADK, Mojave, Miktek etc that are using Chinese made capsules, grills and tube-housings.

    • @rudolfwormstall1196
      @rudolfwormstall1196 2 роки тому

      @@RockmannMusic So you honestly mean to say that something I have uttered in my simple statement is false?. I'm well aware of what the other brands are incorporating as capsules. Of the brands you have enlisted, ADK also manufactures their own capsules, with the exception of their inexpensive range. Also, what the hell makes you believe that I might be interested in Peluso's rubbish range? Peluso's C414 clone is likely the poorest interpretation of the "ES" variant. Anyway, please explain to me, how a manufacturer like Austrian Audio would even consider incorporating a dip in the treble range around 10 kHz? How stupid! The 10k dip makes it impossible for vocals to sit at the front of the mix and the lack of midrange pressure likewise will fail to bring a track to the foreground.

      You are mistaken...This is a not a Chinese capsule...The C12 capsule, of the Austrian Audio OC18, is made in Austria.
