Storm surge is the abnormal rise in water levels during a storm - a result of heavy hurricane winds pushing a bulge of water toward shore as depths become shallower. While winds are the primary cause of storm surge, it's also affected by a storm's angle of approach, the shape of the ocean floor and the low pressure within a storm, which slightly aids the bulging effect. Because of the way storm surge can quickly inundate coastal locations and penetrate well inland, it’s typically one of the deadliest threats from a hurricane. In the case of Hurricane Milton, the topography of Florida’s western coastline along the Gulf of Mexico contributes to the danger, since it isn’t very deep and it features a gentle underwater slope.

There are many democrats in Florida, almost half. Stop being so ignorant
I just knew that somewhere in the comments I'd see reference to "Trump"
CNN fruitcakes, have another sip of kool-aid
Her body, her choice. If she wanted to stay, let her stay. Simple as that.
Give your dogs to someone who will keep them safe. They are dependent on you and you are going to get them killed. Shame on you!,
Floridians are in the prayers of the Caribbean community 🙏 be safe 🙏 y'all ❤
Get outta Dodge!
Please.

So sad.

She genuinely looks like she is a ‘special’ … she doesn’t have all the lights on upstairs if you understand
May god have mercy on your home❤️ good luck!
So losing her life doesn't worry her the most?
This might be the last time we see this lady bless her heart ❤️
I hope those who stay get the a full day of swimming. You set a horrible example for which I have no sympathy. Florida is America’s #1 state adding to the national debt. Well done red states.
“We just choose to be irresponsible, ignorant and stubborn”
Guess staying in a home that’s going to be destroyed with you in it is a better options than being safe and rebuilding somewhere else.
My 2 cents is although I’m certain that people will STILL refuse to Evacuate, WHY doesn’t the Gooberment at Least offer FREE TRANSPORTATION options to people who may not have Resources or are concerned about their Elderly and Pets 🤷🏽♀️ The homeowner I believe mentioned something about her mother? ALso, she mentioned being concerned about Not being able to RETURN to her home AFTER the storm subsides. Of course, I thought it a bit Ridiculous, because with a hurricane of the Magnitude of Milton, there may not be ANYTHING left to Return to.
I did see that they were offering ubers up to $35 for people with no transportation
@@humonsage7195 👍🏽 oh okay 😊 That’s very cooL 💕
The Internet brings out the very worst in people. Even if she's not heeding the warnings, saying "she shouldn't expect help" or "that's the last time we'll see her" is disgusting. The interview mentions that she's helping people who are deciding to stay as well. Does her life not have value or purpose then?
RIP sis. You lived a good life. Lights out!
Fast forward to Ron DeSantis blaming Kamala for the hurricane come November...
It's sad to see stubbornness mixed up with helplessness.
I feel her.. she will leave, get displaced and never see her property again
If you have stilted home you need aluminum sheets or steel sheets to create some sort of angled deflection in front of the stilts.
Family was in New Orleans during sandy, and most homes got destroyed. We were fine, and we used that method.
Florida woman makes good sense….
Thanks for the way you explain
Have y'all noticed people that people on the beach that don't leave for hurricanes, LOOK exactly like you'd expect "people on the beach that don't leave for hurricanes" would look. 🤣🤣🤣
She has a Tan and the dreads, Shes on her spiritual journey with the most high, she will be good
Exactly. She's comfortable with who she is and is ready for whatever happens. People shouldn't criticize.
Great visual information. Thanks for the acumen. Love you CNN❤❤❤❤❤
Lots of Trump voters not gonna make it this time.
Katrina had ~30 feet of storm surge.
Praying for you from🇪🇹🙏🙏🙏
"We just don't leave" is a decision lady. 😂😂😂😂
