"Nobody does rocks as centerpieces" Geologist me here planning to have rocks as centerpieces. (And other stuff but rocks definitely will be present) ("love rocks" get it hah ha ha .... ok. Bye)
I love this its a great idea! rocks are underappreciated pieces of time and history. And its cute and personal having rocks as a center piece as youre a geologist !
I’m a groom planning almost my entire wedding on my own and sometimes begging for input from my bride. I know Im not alone in the world, I can’t be. But a lot of wedding expos and wedding videos and wedding planners I talk to really make me feel that way. It’s a bit upsetting to people like me that the entire industry can feel geared towards women and it never fails to push the “men are lazy and don’t care” cliche. That being said I love Jamie and this channel I feel like this channel is one of the best at feeling at least a little inclusive.
You are not a unicorn. My daughter and I were the "whatever" people and our guys were really all about a wedding event. I think there's always one person who has an idea of the wedding and the other is just in "I want to be with you" mode. To them the wedding is whipped topping and marriage is the ice cream. Don't ask questions about the freaking whipped topping, but the ice cream better be right! 😂
I have found with my fiancé and getting him involved, the “this or that” technique is working great! I just narrow down two or three things that’s I really like and I ask him do you like this or that. It’s helping him get involved but not get overwhelmed.
Elias is EVERY groom. Food is the most important part of the wedding and rocks as centerpieces 🤣 We've just ordered our wedding cake and my fiance agreed to an extra tier because he wanted another flavour of cake 😂
Everytime I bring up wedding planning, my Fiance asks "why are you obsessed with planning". Once I broke it down as "it's a huge expense for one day", he got it. Showing him 2 inspo pics and saying "pick one" has been helping.
I love how little my fiance knew about wedding stuff in general and how overwhelmed he was, it was hilarious 😄 "what color scheme do you want?" - "um. Idk. Maybe 'colorful'"? 😂
hahhaha I think there is a show where the wedding is paid for entirely but the groom has to plan everything. I don't know what its called but I remember seeing a picture of just like a bubblegum pink, bright orange, and yellow as the main colours and when the bride saw it she was like "Dude, WTF" and he said "You said you like these colours once." and thats what your comment reminded me of.
It’s always so funny to me how different men and women are when it comes to things like this. I can spend all day stressing out about how our invitations will look while my boyfriend will look at the first one and be like “yeah that one” and go back to playing his video games 😂 gotta love them. They make things simpler and less stressful sometimes.
Wedding planning is very eye opening. I never realized how indifferent my partner is and how many decisions I make on a daily basis. Delegating within his skillset? I'm going to hold that advice super close to my heart 😂
Groom here, wedding in a little over a year. We're doing ours about 50/50, and honestly I care probably a little more than she does about how the actual wedding is. We're paying for it ourselves so there's a lot of stuff we're trimming down for cost and there have already been a few moments of sadness that we can't do this or we can't do that. Ultimately the point is me and the fiancee getting married, so none of it will matter in hindsight, but I'm so glad we're both on a lot of similar pages regarding stuff.
Just want to put out a peice of advice, set expectations with your partner before planning the wedding. I asked my partner right of the bat if he wanted to be involved in narrowing down every decision, or if he just wanted to okay the decisions I made. It has really helped take stress off of both of us.
I asked her the same thing about a month ago 😍 I couldn’t wait for her video and we went ahead and planned it because my wedding is in like a month, but it would still be nice to see t.
Hey Friends! My future husband wants to be COMPLETELY involved with every step of the process! I’m feeling extra blessed by this after reading all of the “my fiancé just showed up day of” comments! When I tell potential vendors/involved folks that I can’t make any decisions without making sure Jeromy likes it, they are all FLOORED that he is so invested in the aesthetics of our day! We both agree and understand that it’s OUR special day, not just mine as the bride. So much love for your videos, Jamie!
My husband will be heavily involved as well, mostly due to the fact that he has way better time and money management skills! we are both so blessed I know your wedding was Gorgeous Hailey! The wedding planner and my husband are going to be the best of friends and he will be the one asking me, "ok this or that?"
Nice - my fiance is exactly the same, he's very interested in everything and we make decisions together. Exactly as we have done our whole relationship, we're a team - and like you said, it's our wedding not just the bride on her own 😊❤️ I like that you are the same as me with your planning... It's lovely to have a fiance so involved, I agree
Thank you, Elias, for taking part in this video. It is helpful to know the groom’s perspective, and now I feel challenged to figure out how to incorporate rocks into centerpieces. Granite river rocks and pillar candles? Or, pillar candles and rough quartz? That would make a beautiful light effect.
My mom and I have DIY most of my upcoming wedding. We were going to DIY food because we have less than 35 people that will be there. We decided however, to splurge so that we could actually enjoy the rest of the process and the day.
Loved hearing the grooms view! Can you make a video comparing a small intimate wedding vs a larger one? My fiancé and I are trying to keep our wedding below $10,000, but it’s so hard 😭 I’m leaning towards having an intimate wedding followed by a reception later on.
That was our original budget, but we blew that out of the water getting the venue we both loved *sighs* we are saving a lot of money by cutting the guest list. Only close family and friends. One coworker. It's made things a lot easier
I’ve been trying to delegate in my guy’s skill set too! He’s excellent at color and design, so he came to pick out flowers and he’s designing invites. I also put him in charge of his favorite food: the cheese plate. Seeing as we’re VERY low budget, I’ll need his help with more as time goes on, but I want to keep to his comfort zone as much as possible.
My fiancé got his best woman a pocketwatch to match his and engraved it. She was over the moon as he wants them all in matching kilts and pocket watches.
Absolutely love your videos! Not sure if you take requests but it would be awesome if you could make a timeline video of everything need to do starting from the day you get engaged all the way up to the wedding day! And if you already have a video like that, point me in the right direction!😊♥️
Jamie, HELP ME HELP ME HELP ME! I am getting married in 3 MONTHS, and I bought my wedding dress OVER a year ago... and I went to a fitting today, AND REALIZED I KIND OF HATE IT?! Why am I not in love with my dress anymore? I spent so much money on it and now I feel like I’m over thinking everything and have buyers remorse. What is an easy, inexpensive solution to my problem? I just want to feel beautiful on my wedding day, and not feel like the dress is wearing me.
Your husband is a legend!! On another note, your videos are a life saver to me, if I’m stressed about something it has always been on your channel! This video was so useful! ❤️
I’m getting married September 19th 2020 and I am enjoying your videos literally so MUCH!!! Your videos are life savers in this crazy process! Also your husband is soooo similar to my fiancé, especially when he said rocks and camo for the centerpieces 😂😂😂
As an electrical contractor, I had to laugh when he said he's a general after that spiel about his procrastination hahaha- but you two are so sweet. Really appreciated his perspective
Hello! I got married over three years ago and I should have gone to UA-cam instead of Pinterest for advice! I've been binge watching your videos the whole morning with a bittersweet feeling, our wedding was chaos, something that I look back with regret except for the few tears my husband drop when saying his vows, we were in a very low budget I couldn't make my mind over so much stuff let alone organise it or even delegate, we got married in Australia and since the very beginning we knew that we'll be doing it again in our home country where all our family and dearest are, so now December 5th 2020 we'll be having our 5th wedding anniversary and we want to do something like a weddiversary! And your videos are giving me so much insight as to how to prioritise the arrangements for our new big day! Thank you very much for your content! And if you or someone have any good advice for people that marries overseas and then want to do it again on their home country, please drop it down below I would really appreciate it! Thanks!
I love the grand entrance song! I could live without it, but I imagine it would be a good bargaining chip in planning. Something like, if the future mother-in-law insists that we do something a certain way that we really don't like then I'd say, "Okay, we'll do that and we will use Du Hast for our entrance song." I'm going to go put Du Hast on repeat now.
So at minute 16 when you revealed the entrance song, and played the clip, I immediately started crying and watched it over and over. Love to you both! 🤘♡ Heavy metal softy over here!
Same!! It's always been one of my favorite songs and I've been over here trying to figure out how I could incorporate it into our reception somehow (tougher than it sounds because we're in the good ol southern bible belt here) and this is such a perfect idea!! 🥰 🤣🤘
@@nottheRachelyourelookingfor Update! I told our dj during the interview process about this idea (forgot about it) and he and his wife introduced us as husband and wife to this song. Beat surprise ever!!! By far one of my favorite moments from the wedding. 🤘
I'm almost two months in into being married. My hubby was really into decision making with the wedding. I'm much more of anything goes kinda person lol so I provided options for stuff like the theme, suit options for groomsmen, locations etc and allowed him to pick. I'm really happy you suggested soaking it all in while walking up the aisle and having that private moment in between the day. The day really goes by so fast, it's important to be mindful of what's going on :)
This video just makes me smile ! So great to see you looking so happy and loving and still being super real about the whole experience, makes it super special and really stands out. You two are lucky for having found each other! Thanks for sharing this with us !
As a female... rocks as centerpiece idea is cool. Even more cool if one is a geologist. Sparkly geodes galore! Mystical rocky cavern ideas! Also crystals count, and painting rocks would be a fun activity. Also - This is why I think men should contribute to design and decor. :)
Thank you for all the help your videos give. I'm getting married on 25.08.2019 and your videos have really really helped with my planning. Greetings from Guyana, South America 🇬🇾.
This video is so cute and very helpful. Also, the order I watched your videos has been hilarious! Your husband mentioned he's just take a hose for bathroom stuff and the last video I watched your daughter told about her dad teachers her how to drink from the hose pipe! So cute and gave me a great laugh!!
This is so spot on. I recently got engaged and he is just so indifferent. At first I was a bit put off, but then i thought of it...Men really don't care for the details like women. We literally plan our weddings since we were little girls lol. He has only been adamant about one thing and that's with the cake, which I'm totally fine with. 🤷🏻♀️
Before watching video: “what the groom cares about?..... NOTHING!! Because even going over details give him a headache. My life...” Also ladies, have you gone through this? Before we were engaged, my fiancé used t say that this wedding was all for me. I made all the decisions. Now that we’re planning, he has opinions now haha half are his and half are his mom/sister 😝
My wedding is in 46 days and I feel like I still have so much to do! Aahhh! My fiancé is the same as your husband. lol he helped me with enough for him to say he was apart of it and contributed. lol we still need to get gifts for the bridal party though, thanks for that reminder. lol
I'm not even getting married anymore, but I still love watching your videos. What you have to say is interesting, and your personality comes across so well!
I'm new to your channel and am beginning to plan my DIY backyard wedding. I've learned soooooo much since I started watching your videos. So happy to have found you! We are going to be doing a backyard wedding/reception. We are also thinking of doing a potluck reception. Do you have any advice for going about this kind of reception?
I think I have one of the only FH who cares way less about food than I do haha our food is mostly what I want to eat that day. The fun little roasting is so real though and I love your entrace song! You looked so elegant on your day!
Reminds me so much of my own fiance saying: "It's her wedding". He doesn't care about the ceremony. What matters is what comes next. The life together, the common house...is a lot more interested in the next part.
I love this video!! Please do more like this!! I'm getting married in September and your videos are helping through this and making things easier! Thank you!
How do I become a coordinator? I’m loving the different type of stress that comes with wedding planning and the process in general.Do you need another assistant?
My man is in charge of food, and for other decisions I want his input on I give him two or three things to choose between. It's not that he doesn't care, he just doesn't have preferences for most of the things we have to decide on so he wants me to pick whatever will make me happy.
This was really cool the watch! From what we’ve talked about, it’s seems like my boyfriend would be very similar. He is not interested in the stress of planning and Is in different about the specifics which means that I would have the freedom to choose everything. The only things he seems to care about are the food, the cost, the honeymoon and maybe the location. I know there is also a certain wedding dress that he really likes. That is so cool you surprised him with his song that is so unique!!
I just read an article that lightly insulting your significant other is actually good for your relationship... my FH does it to me a lot so he linked it, lol. I thought of it at your little goofy thing at the end. You guys are cute.
I love this video. I have been giving my fiance little tasks here and there but I hate that I have to, I wish he was more interested in the wedding. So this video made me more at ease and not take it to personally that he doesn't care about the wedding as much as me.
You and your husband are so cute and great together!!! This video was such a great insight to what my future husband may or may not be feeling through the wedding process. Can I suggest the next video be about estranged relationships with parents? I have a friend who’s getting married but her relationship with her mom is extremely rocky and I really want to give her advice but I don’t know how.
I second this suggestion because I am in your friends boat. My mom and I dont have a great relationship and our wedding is in September. She didn't get an invite (yikes I know)
I completely understand because even though I’m single at the moment, in the future I KNOW I’m going to struggle through the entire process with my mother because my whole life we never got along too well and I can’t imagine what it’d be like going through wedding planning
This made me laugh my Fiance is pretty much the same hes says..... "I'll pay you plan" lol he is like "I don't care about anything but the food and beer" lol hahah ;)
I love your videos but I never comment but this is soooo funny! He is great and the chemistry between you two is lovely!! Make sure you're friends first, then marry your friend, totally agree!!
Yeah... I feel him at the end. Everyone thinks that I'm so lucky to have my husband. No one really thinks he's lucky to have me (he does, of course... I hope).
I would LOVE to see more footage from your actual wedding! Do you already have a video in a different place or would you consider making one for your channel? Love your content 😘
Aww this was a super cute video. I’ve been binge watching your channel, leading up to my wedding in April. Thanks for all the tips! I hired a day of coordinator because of you.
Rammstein is so horrible! Some texts are so NOT okay! If I found out my guy appreciated something like Rammstein, the wedding would be off. Really. But then again: my husband would never marry a witch! (Is what your UA-cam name means in German.) To each his own, I guess. You take hell. I rather go to heaven.

Rocks as center pieces... that's totally what we would consider :D since my bf is an environmental engineer specialized in geology :)
Geodes, crystals, river rocks, floating candles with rocks at the bottom, rock painting as an activity. I think the ideas are endless!
To be fair, I think geodes would be a cool "rock" centerpiece. Or maybe like a Zen garden theme with river rocks :) or rose quartz!

We literally plan our weddings since we were little girls lol. He has only been adamant about one thing and that's with the cake, which I'm totally fine with. 🤷🏻♀️
Before watching video: “what the groom cares about?..... NOTHING!! Because even going over details give him a headache. My life...”
Also ladies, have you gone through this? Before we were engaged, my fiancé used t say that this wedding was all for me. I made all the decisions. Now that we’re planning, he has opinions now haha half are his and half are his mom/sister 😝
Oh that clip of your wedding! I loved it!
Rocks as center pieces is an amazing idea!
My wedding is in 46 days and I feel like I still have so much to do! Aahhh! My fiancé is the same as your husband. lol he helped me with enough for him to say he was apart of it and contributed. lol we still need to get gifts for the bridal party though, thanks for that reminder. lol
I busted out LAUGHING when you showed the clip of you guys walking out to Du Hast 😂 that’s so awesome!
Y'all are freaking adorable! Obviously made for each other ❤ such a great and much needed Q & A! Super helpful E!
P.S. what did you dance with your mom to?
Amazing!! Rammstein for your entry song, I cant stop being impressed and happy for your groom
Not Du Hast!! 🤣🤣 I love it so freaking much
Thank you for the wedding coordinator question and answer I’ve been wondering it about it and I’m really considering it ! Love your channel ! ❤️
I love this video. I have been giving my fiance little tasks here and there but I hate that I have to, I wish he was more interested in the wedding. So this video made me more at ease and not take it to personally that he doesn't care about the wedding as much as me.
I would 100% watch him do your make-up... only because he looked so freakin excited to do that video lol and that makes me look forward to it.
I'm pretty sure your husband and my Fiance are the same person lol 😂!
"I think that leaf should be a different leaf" ROFL 🤣
LOL this is a funny conversation. Love it! Thanks for sharing!!
Will watch later... loving it already though!! You and your great videos and good ideas!
Yeah... I feel him at the end. Everyone thinks that I'm so lucky to have my husband. No one really thinks he's lucky to have me (he does, of course... I hope).
He is adorable!!!!!! But the procrastination, far out, my husband drives me nuts doing that.
What would you have sacrificed from your budget in order to afford a wedding coordinator?
^RT 😅
This is so cute! OMG and BTW that guys sharing a hotel room story ... man I was dyyyying!
Just found this channel and so glad I did! You guys are meant to be! Such great advice! 🤗
I would LOVE to see more footage from your actual wedding! Do you already have a video in a different place or would you consider making one for your channel? Love your content 😘
Thank you for this! 😁 Y’all so sweet! & you gave me great ideas for my wedding. ❤️ your videos!
Aww this was a super cute video. I’ve been binge watching your channel, leading up to my wedding in April. Thanks for all the tips! I hired a day of coordinator because of you.
I enjoyed this video so much. Your grand entrance song is killer. I might totally do this!!!
You guys have such a great dynamic!
Such a great video, great points and good humor.
Rammstein as the entrance song, I love it!!! :D (Even though the text of "Du hast" is an interesting choice for a wedding^^)
