Excellent comparison. I have listen to a ton of these videos trying to figure out which Recording Custom snare to buy. This one has me convinced on the 5.5 x 14 brass model. Thank you!!
Good representation of Yamaha's new line of metal shell snares. I like that the 5.5 depth is still being offered. If only Yamaha would make 8 lug versions.
I bought my recording custom steel 5.5 snare in the strength of this video and it’s awesome! Beautiful drum. I use it for all different types of gigs and recording . Highly recommended! 🥁👌🏻
awesome video! the recording quality (mic setup etc.) was perfect, really the first ytvideo i found that showcased the different characteristics of the shells. wood was missing thou. also you could for example pick one shell material and make a comparison with die cast and wood hoops... also different sizes.... so much work but i tell you i would pay for that video!
@YamahaDrums Just wanted to let you know, that I’m a huge fan of your products and that I proudly use them since i started to play drums and also recommended you to others who want to start to play an instrument just because I heard your Keyboards and Bass Guitars already in person and they were usually as great as we all know your products. Please don’t stop manufacturing Drums as I don’t ever want to play any other brands Drums. ❤️
I have YRC 14x5,5 Brass snare drum. It's brillant snare - sound is so great, so explosive. It is also very sensitive instrument - I can play silently and loud, according to need. Ghost notes are very selective and audiable. And it looks beautiful. :)
This lad ere should calm down and play the drums instead of just shredding and backsticking because this is an advert for a product not a d***-measuring contest lololol
For starters, play the same type of cadence (less the DCI schtick) across all of the featured products and demo the drums consistently. For example, why play snares-off with just one drum? Why no side-stick comparison? Seriously, with very little effort, this showcase can be much more edifying.
I think it was a really well-rounded demo. Solo snare work was great to hear the range of the snare in question, then a solid groove was a handy way to compare each one to the others.
And Ludwig has drums made in Taiwan as well. You can get a Taiwanese BB or USA BB. I doubt you would hear or notice the quality workmanship if you didn't know where they were made. It's all about quality control where ever they are made. I had Supraphonic that the finish kept coming off. Quality control?
They all sound great.... my favorite? Brass
GREAT video. Not usually a fan of steel, but that 5.5" x 14" sounds KILLER.
Great vid! Totally diggin' the 14x7 Steel and the 14x5,5 Aluminium.

Was it the right choice?
Looks like he's just come off the snooker table! Nice drumsounds. Thanks
Half I'm not the only one!
Aluminium 14x5.5 sounds best to me. Pretty tight sounding

Brilliant video from Steve. Really good idea at the end to let us compare the various shell types and depths etc
Glad you enjoyed it
Great comparison snare video! Enjoyed it, David Curtis Drumming
So awesome to see newer footage of this legend.
Across the board the 14 x 5.5 size does it for me. My favourite? Brass 14 x 5.5 without a doubt!!
Still one of my favourite drummers.
Great format for snare comparison, really clear. All of them were nice, but JEEZ when the aluminium 14x6.5 dropped... that was fat! Thanks!
Great comparison-very precise and well-explained.

wow, just learnt that the deeper the drum the longer the sustain!
I think I like the 14x7 steel. Would have liked to have heard a little more of the 14x6.5 brass to compare, though.

We don't plan on stopping anytime soon!
@@YamahaDrumsEurope 🤟🏽 keep up the great work!
Great snare drums and great drummer. I prefer the steel 14x5,5
I really like the Steel 14x7!!
i like this whole demo...everything about it.......
this dude plays VERY well man!
He wanks, he doesn't play. He only works for irrelevant artists too
@@jaynebronson4098 You know nothing about playing drums, or music, or how to be a decent person.
13” brass and 5-1/2”x14” Aluminum wow!
I'll take one of each thank you very much.
Que gran estilo tiene Steve!!!! Es el mejor. Pero me gusta verlo sentado tras una premier!!!!
6.5 x 14 Brass for me. I just ordered it a week ago.
How’s the craftsmanship?
the RC 14x7 sounds good to my ears.
I like the steels...man, you have killer hands...
Great demonstration...Steel seemed the cleanest sound here, but wished bronze was included.
It’s the pick of the metal snares...
I would take any of them. Cheers
14x7 steel sounds very lively to me.
Just wondering the kick drum size and depth thumpity thump?🤘✌️
Lovely playing Steve!
What size kick was that?

Mateusz Gawron Official
Same here, and a live custom( same size) these two really cover it all,
Both Brass sound the best to me.
Alla Minion snare 👍
Are they all tuned high..?
Yamaha make some of the greatest drums.
Vídeo Top !
I like aluminum 14*6.5.
Wish the alumunium was offered in 13 x 6.
dude your technique though
14x6,5 Brass wins.
That dancing logo....
Brass 14x6.5 jazz
STEEL...14x5’5.....probably the cheapest too ?
Is it me or is aluminium quite ringy and steel rather dry?

14x7 steel.
Only thing i wish after these samples are just your hand .
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Why Yamaha doesn’t use rubber gaskets under the lugs? I think they know the secret.
Brass!
It's. Ot so long ago this guy was singing the praises of Mapex.
Yes, there are other good drums out there. So what?

Prefer Pearl Sensitone.Aluminium.

Denny Hargraeves, did you watch the movie to the end? The last minute may be for you ;-)
The bit where he grooved like a dead fish at the end? Aye, further proves he's doing a bit too much shred with his spare time lulz
@denny hargreaves: what would a perfect snare drum comparison video look like for you? Let us know what you are missing. Thanks!

Just another company
ripping off LUDWIG! Where
are these made? Taiwan?!
Someones talking bull...

How the hell is this ripping off Ludwig? It's not like Ludwig are the only company on the planet that make metal snares
Steel 14x7...wow...
