What a great goalkeeper he was. Ondoubtedly one of the best of his area, top10 of all times in my opinion. And strange enough, the goalkeeper who also will be remembered by one of the most iconic goals ever, Van Basten his volley in the Euro88 final. That remarkable goal deserved a classstyle goalkeeper like Dassayev was.

After Lev Yashin, Dasaev is the best URSS goalkeeper of all time. As a Brazilian, I remember in 1982 not being too concerned with URSS’ attacking players (not that they were not good), but I was more concerned about Dasaev blocking our shots. At the end, Sócrates and Éder managed to beat the incredible Dasaev. (And there was a penalty in favor of the USSR that the referee “failed to see”, but we all saw that).

Amazing GK and certainly one of the greatest of all time. Unfortunately he is been sadly forgotten, because due to the rules in Soviet he never played for any giant european FC that's why most of the people specially young generation don't him or how amazing he was.
