      @@mellovestodraw, A hurricane is always known about in advance, its expected path is predicted usually days before. People can prepare, leave the area, board up their houses, and easily make themselves safe with lots of time.
      An earthquake is sudden, with no warning (maybe a few seconds with a very advanced early warning system.) More than 20,000 people died as a result of this earthquake and the tsunami it caused.
      I would definitely choose the hurricane too.

      @Feetup. Yeah, obviously. Everyone would. I don't think there's any shame in calling your mom? What's the problem? She's probably terrified that you were injured or dead.

    That day I was sitting with my dog in the kitchen. He started to cry and I was worried. Suddenly I big shake came. My parents ran down the stairs. We went out side to see if anyone needed help. There was one older lady who was holding on to a fence. She was crying. We gave her a glass of water and she started to come down. We went back inside and started to contact our family and friends. The only thing we could use was Facebook. My sister was still in school. When you live an hour away from home it's bad. She didn't come home intill 9:30. That was the only time I cried for my sister. I thought she wouldn't come home. Some kids in her school didn't come home till 12. The bus drivers where a struggle. A lot of there family's died. I am so happy that where I live is prepared for a earthquake. Most buildings still are alive. My house that has been here for 80 years survived and is still alive. I pray for those who are still recovering and who lost love ones.

    Wanna learn a fun fact:
    The Eiffel Tower's architecture is earthquake-proof. But there's no earthquake in Paris.
    This is probably how the Japanese architects drew their inspiration from (and how the Tokyo Tower was made). It was a prelude to the earthquake-proof buildings we know, and Japan did it 1000 times better.

    • @nolanspiva467
      @nolanspiva467 8 місяців тому

      It is not 9.0 magnitude earthquake proof, at least by design. It’s scored a 9/10 for structural integrity in regard to typical natural disaster. A 9.0 is NOT typical. And Japanese use seismic isolation base to combat earthquake damage and from what I have read, there is nothing like it. I’ve seen videos from the 2011 quake from inside 50th floors and there was hardly any noise or movement. And the sway is minimal considering the movement of the fohndation

So the people who look unfazed may actually also be terrified. Japanese have earthquake drills from preschool on up. Japanese districts also have earthquake drills. They are taught to be quiet, walk to safer area and sit down.
