As they say, "fortis Fortuna adiuvat." Fortune favors the bold. Love that aggressive move to make it happen. Some purist out there may disagree, but on public you gotta make it happen.

That’s right! In my mind I had walked too many miles and hunted too hard to let a mere 15 yards stop me from success! 😂

I went turkey hunting once. Private 10 acre lot I was told no one else hunted. I set up at night with decoys and within an hour of daylight I hooked a Tom that was coming in gobblin. When he was near 1/8 of a mile, I caught a turkey head moving in my peripheral at about 10-12 yards at 3 o'clock. I took several minutes to turn myself around and get into position. I had one window to see and shoot through a real thick honeysuckle patch I was nestled into. His head popped up and I saw the blue and red and sent my lead right down range directly at its head. I didn't hear any flapping or movement, which seemed odd. My heart was racing, my nerves were electrified and my breathing was hard. I took a couple of minutes to gather myself together. Then I made my way toward the turkey to find that it was a decoy that the owner's nephew left in the ground. He forgot that he gave permission to his nephew to hunt the land, years ago. What was worse was that just about another 10 yards beyond that decoy was his nephew's blind. Thankfully his nephew wasn't in it.
That was my first and last turkey hunting experience 🤣

@@davidfleer5307 yeah, when I saw the blind just beyond the decoy, I was shaken with the horror of possibly having unintentionally shot someone. I was relieved and angry all that the same time

As a South Carolina guy myself our turkeys are probably less than half what they was 5 years ago
