I've had more than a dozen Porsches including two Macan's, currently have a 2020. A phenomenal car. Kick ass styling and kick ass performance. It's my winter car.
The Macan S was always the best choice in terms of usable performance, looks (marginally different) and price (unreasonable high). Despite the Turbo is more powerful, in real life traction issues limit power exploitation two-third of the time (few exceptions in summer). What I miss in in this facelifting ( to smooth the introduction of the new generation) are revised seats like in the Cayenne, current one are quite old-style and do not match with Porsche vision. Definitely a marketing choice to avoid jeopardization with the upcoming versions ...
I have air suspension on my S. In Sport+ mode it's pretty firm. Too floaty for me in regular mode. Sport mode is acceptable, but I'm in lowered and S+ 99.9% of the time.
No rear aeb, no heads up display, terrible voice control commands, poor safety integration and $3k option for basic safety options. I really want to like the Macan S and even buy one but Porsche are really taking us as fools with the lack of a safety rating and safety equipment.
The launch GTS where I live was advertised at nearly $170K aud the launch S came in at just under $140k that’s still a significant difference. Both had really good options added like panorama roof.
That’s all well and good, but Porsche is a sneaky mob. If you want ANY added extras that are basically standard in most luxury brands you pay - and you pay through the nose. Case in point: I designed an S model with some basic additions I’d expect in a luxury car and the DAP was >$170,000.00…… that’s far, far too much for a mini SUV….
You must have ticked every single option incl paint to sample to get a Macan S up that high. I have a fair number of options on my S (PASM + Airsusp, 18way, torque vectoring, 20" etc) and it was half that.
Going through the configurator I could not get it above 130K. That includes options that you'd likely never put in an S, since they come included cheaper in a GTS.
@@macans5010 hey mate, yeah we have a luxury car tax. Luxury car tax (LCT) is a tax on cars with a GST-inclusive value above the LCT threshold. LCT is imposed at the rate of 33% on the amount above the luxury car threshold. It sux big time…!!!
Every Aussie reviewers seem to say the same thing - the S is the sweet spot. I genuinely do not think that the base S without any option is the Macan to get - $100,000+ just for the badge. It’s like buying an A1 and tell everyone you drive an Audi 🤦🏻♂️ Add the options that most Porsche buyer would and the S is no longer as sweet a spot as the GTS in my opinion. GTS all the way or save up a little bit longer to get one.
I agree - once optioned the price isn't that far off and there are a few exclusive aesthetics you cannot get on the S either. I'd get the GTS over the S and fork out the extra $ hah. It's more I can't decide between a base Cayenne with some options vs. Macan GTS and how much space I can compromise T_T
Wow 😮 now I understand why used vehicles are so expensive now. The prices are insane and not worth it especially for the basic model. With options you then go to another level of insanity. Performance is not good either. While the ride quality is excellent the ICE has no business being there. Too dam slow for a Porsche. The Tesla model Y long range will zip of the line just as good for 20k less and spend an extra 2k and you will blow the doors of a gts macan. We now see who inflation ruins everything
I currently have a GLC63 and drove a GTS and X3M Comp, back to back. Have you driven a new GTS? It is a far better vehicle than the BMW or Benz, and it’s not even close.

5:30 first reviewer to hit the nail on the head. feels like a hot hatch. no one else got that. that is how i felt.
Recently picked up my S in the Uk. Changed from a Mercedes GLC43 AMG and find it a much better drive. Love it.
Which years amg model did u have .
One thing missing : reasonable price
Few things missing in Andres: a conscience, a heart, and a life.

Great review!!
Why don’t you guys review the GTS.
Very good video. May I know what kind of blue was the Macan you tested please?
I think its the new Gentine Blue borrowed from the 911.
Is your test car fitted with air suspension? I wonder how firm the ride is without it?
The Macan I'm driving here is the S model, so no air suspension. The GTS has air suspension fitted as standard.
I have air suspension on my S. In Sport+ mode it's pretty firm. Too floaty for me in regular mode. Sport mode is acceptable, but I'm in lowered and S+ 99.9% of the time.
Keep saying it : go S in base spec. go GTS as soon as you want to feel special

As soon as you start adding options to the S, the GTS makes more sense and is only slightly dearer

@@MrHoogoorock my order in a decently Specced GTS is just over 153k.
It's really a beautiful car
The one thing It’s missing for me is a manual transmission option.
Why no turbo?
There is none.
Turbo will reappear with the all-new Macan in 2023-ish. Possibly as an EV.
@@cheeeesto aren't these bi turbo?
@@Drewww71 ah sorry. Yes the engine is bi-turbo, but there is no Turbo model this time around.
Love my Mercedes but this will be my upgrade!
The crucial thing missing is that most people don't have that kind of money to buy one.
