At SafetyQuip we have many clients working in industries
where personnel are required to clean up needles and
other sharps in public spaces or public buildings.
That would cover industries like local government...
councils, maybe parks and gardens maintenance
personnel, building and facilities managers, maybe in
prisons, maybe emergency services.
We now have a new needle stick resistant glove.
It's part of the ProChoice range of safety gear.
It's called the Sharp Shield glove.
I'm wearing it now.
It's available in the hi-vis orange or in the black.
It's available by the pair.
Now, there's a whole pile of standards that cover this
glove that I won't bore you to tears with.
However, the key feature of the glove is its excellent
resistance to punctures from needle sticks.
I see many clients using a whole variety of different
gloves for needle clean up.
Often people have traditionally used a riggers glove
like this, which, although it looks strong and thick
doesn't actually provide adequate protection from
a needle stick puncture.
I've got a little demonstration needle here...
I'm not sure if you can see this needle...
If you can see that, there's a very fine needle there.
This is the leather glove.
If I try and puncture that...
You'll see that the needle can really go straight through...
It punctures the leather immediately.
However, with this Sharp Shield glove...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Just joking around... You'll see it's bent the needle
rather than puncture the glove.
