When Pierre Poilievre gets in office (positive thinking), he will negotiate with Trump. He will not be able to get rid of the tariffs, but he could possibly get them down to a percentage that both sides would be okay with
@johnstewart2473 He won't be able to negotiate it down. Not that it's much of an issue, as long as he does what he has said and builds the necessary infrastructure so Canada can trade with the rest of the world. If Pierre does that, these tarrifs probably go down in history as something that benefitted Canada in the long term, as we'll have become less depending on America.

He is making other countries pay us back. He wants American businesses to come back and build manufacturing in this country instead. Competition between local products and imported products. Buy things made in the USA instead and make our economy great again. If you are a businessman, you'll get a great deal if you build it in our country instead. We should rely on our own resources, not get cheap materials from another country, and stop sending money to other countries. They need to learn to use their own resources too and help themselves without the USA's dollars.

@@no.1spidey-fan182 He is making businesses come back to our country. Most businesses left America back in the 90s because they could franchise their business there cheaper. Now, the other countries have to pay us tariffs; that would make them charge more for being American businesses. If they come back to the US, we will not charge them twice in here. The more businesses we build here in the USA using our own resources without relying on imported products, the more jobs will open up, and we can use our own money for infrastructure and the economy. We've been paying tariffs to another country and also giving them billions of dollars for decades. They should do the same. The same analogy can be applied to many different scenarios including what we will have to do to handle the out of control spending and national debt problem. Won't be pretty but we must go through the pain so our grandchildren don't have to.
I will give him a chance. Partly because I literally don't have an option. My complaining about it isn't going to help. At the very least I will wait and see until all the doomsday predictions actually happen. I seem to recall a lot of the same in 2017 that never happened either. @TheBlueDragon86 trump can't collect money directly from Canada or Mexico on the export items he imposes tariffs on. That means whoever imports those items, your companies or suppliers are the ones that will have to pay the tariffs. Because that is an additional cost, they will have to raise the price of the goods by 25% to offset the costs. That means that they will either have to close shop or lay off some people so that the tariffs don't hurt their shareholders. So not only does the American consumers have to pay 25% more, but some of the workforce may be laid off.

The failure in US economy as whole started during the last year of Bush Senior Administration with the proposal of NAFTA. Since then the horse as we say in Eastern Europe is drown . The other issue which US soon will encounter in next five years it will be that the country will be no longer the biggest market in the world. I don't like trade wars. The price of goods and services are gonna skyrocket. So now businesses are gonna pay more on goods exported from these countries.
The USA doesn't subsidize Canada (or any Nation). That would mean that the USA gives Canada free money so Canada can stay afloat. That's not how anything works. Canada sells their crude oil to the USA at a major discount, which turns into 1000's of jobs in the USA to process that raw oil into processed petroleum (gasoline/diesel/etc). A 25% tariff means that crude oil going from Canada to the USA will cost AMERICANS more money to import that oil. That's a huge mistake, as the US Dollar is worth WAY more than the Canadian dollar right now, so instead of importing crude oil and an even CHEAPER price, Trump is adding a 25% tax on Canadian oil imports, so that dollar exchange-rate advantage is erased. With the 4 years Trump has in office, the USA doesn't have enough time to start drilling for American oil at a rate that replaces the amount of cheap oil they were getting from Canada. Meanwhile, Canada will not struggle to sell crude oil elsewhere, as everyone around the world uses it, and needs it for fuel, one way or the other. Canada and the USA have been best friends for decades, trading between each other more than any two nations, and helping each other with every disaster or emergency that either Nation has faced (fires, hurricanes, wars, 9/11, etc). Within a week, Trump has destroyed that relationship.

Its exactly why you have the majority of illegal immigrants picking our fruits and vegetables because they can be paid less than an actual American and keep the product costs down, now throw in some Americans to start picking them, your fruits and vegetables will sky rocket in price because americans aren't going to do back breaking work unless they are compensated well.

How can you keep more money when everything will be 25-50% more expansive. Yes you wont pay 20% income tax but everithing is going to be 5 to 30% more expansive?
Not really. It’s a 2 way street. At least, with China, at the moment. Their economy needs our dollars, but our economy needs their incredibly cheap goods. As for Canada and Mexico, American companies have used them as a way of avoiding tariffs on certain goods, but their manufacturing could be brought back to the U.S., further punishing their economies with higher unemployment. Trudeau knows this, and that’s why he’s resigning as Prime Minister. The Mexican President is just as stubborn and wants to fight, but she’s in the same situation as the Canadian government.

to answer your questions, or make note of things, Disputes explained in my opinion, 1)Canada is not subsidized, they have a trade surplus meaning they sell more to US than they buy. Trump uses the word subsidize cause it sounds better, 2) Canada spends less than the agreed upon 2% for NATO, 1.of only 6 member not to reach the goal, this has always been a sore spot during negotiation, but to defend the a nation that size would bankrupt them, the US Military expenditures have indebted US trillions imagine spending that much with 1/10th population 3) canadian lumber is a natural resource in Canada therefore the government profits directly and I directly in any transaction meaning lumber firms pay for the trees and in tax of profit. This is another sore spot for at least republican circles. 4) American national debt is 36 trillion in It has been said that the US will not be to support it citizens through debt again , on or around 2001 population was 280 million and national debt was 6 trillion that trajectory national debt should be at 9 trillion. the additional debt are found in a 20 year war Afghanistan, 10 year war Iraq, support for Ukraine cost unknown. bush, obama, trump1, Biden all blew up debt. I mean I thought 12 was too much but here we are at 36 5) FENTANYL a big problem not so much mexicos problem even less Canada's it comes from China even state sponsorsed so yes tariff them 25% or even more. 6)border coverage. yes Mexico should do much more but apparently should have done it years ago. its been a political football, for at least 2 decade. bush obama, so on really missed the ball of that. 7)trump tariff real goal will fill the treasury best way to build maybe even payoff debt 8) real reason for tarrifs is to build capital any other Easton
I do wish the US would stop outsourcing everything. We used to make great products. Yeah, things would cost more if you had to pay Americans to make them but should we be supporting low wage workers overseas?
Mexico has had tariffs on us for as long as i can remember. As far as canadia is concerned, i don't care. This is just the start of negotiations. If not, we will have people here make whatever they made. Canada imports 10.4 billion dollars per year more food from the us than we do from them.
1:31 Yes, and that's also what Javier Milei (the President of Argentina) said, and look at the now; they are prospering once more. That's what we need.
People are saying its actually the American companies that import the goods that will be hit by the tariffs, not the actual foreign country. So Americans are the ones who will be hurt by these tariffs. Is this true or false?
Politicians passed crazy regulations forcing companies to go overseas for cheaper production , I'm sure getting money through stocks and "donations" from these companies. Tariffs are going to give incentive in bringing production back to America which benefits America.
What you said about groceries is exactly how I feel about gasoline. It will be bought either way, so a dollar or two difference does not change much. That being said, gas will never be $1.50 per gallon ever again. Oil companies are not in the business of losing profits.

I don't know about tariffing the EU, the EU is basically every country in Europe combined into one economy. We might be able to win a trade war with other great countries like China, India, or Russia, but picking a fight with an entire continent might be just a little too much when we have 33 countries united in a trade war against us.
The EU is a bunch of relatively small economic states united into a single whole more competitive with the USA, which itself is most of a continent and a union of 50 states, the average GDP of each one is basically equivalent to the GDP of an European Union state. And we still have more states. It may be "like 33 countries", but like 5 of those are places like the UK and France and Germany, the rest are the European equivalent of North Dakota or Wyoming.
Actions have consequencies in politics I don't think Trump think that far...🇺🇲🤡

@@zach177 this is hilarious take... no they definitely will not be cheaper.. if products are going to start being made in America, American employees are going to want to be compensated with American wages... those are not cheap... meaning the American stores will rise up the price to be able to provide their American employees that wage and you as the consumer have to spend more. Its exactly why you have the majority of illegal immigrants picking our fruits and vegetables because they can be paid less than an actual American and keep the product costs down, now throw in some Americans to start picking them, your fruits and vegetables will sky rocket in price because americans aren't going to do back breaking work unless they are compensated well.

to answer your questions, or make note of things,
Disputes explained in my opinion,
1)Canada is not subsidized, they have a trade surplus meaning they sell more to US than they buy. Trump uses the word subsidize cause it sounds better,
2) Canada spends less than the agreed upon 2% for NATO, 1.of only 6 member not to reach the goal, this has always been a sore spot during negotiation, but to defend the a nation that size would bankrupt them, the US Military expenditures have indebted US trillions imagine spending that much with 1/10th population
3) canadian lumber is a natural resource in Canada therefore the government profits directly and I directly in any transaction meaning lumber firms pay for the trees and in tax of profit.
I mean I thought 12 was too much but here we are at 36
5) FENTANYL a big problem not so much mexicos problem even less Canada's it comes from China even state sponsorsed so yes tariff them 25% or even more.
6)border coverage. yes Mexico should do much more but apparently should have done it years ago. its been a political football, for at least 2 decade. bush obama, so on really missed the ball of that.
7)trump tariff real goal will fill the treasury best way to build maybe even payoff debt
8) real reason for tarrifs is to build capital any other Easton
I do wish the US would stop outsourcing everything. We used to make great products. Yeah, things would cost more if you had to pay Americans to make them but should we be supporting low wage workers overseas?
Yes prices of things will go up but these bumps in the road are expected in order for us to get back on the right track.
Happy Groundhog Day, Tyrone!
People are saying its actually the American companies that import the goods that will be hit by the tariffs, not the actual foreign country. So Americans are the ones who will be hurt by these tariffs. Is this true or false?
Yes it's true. The tarrif is paid when the goods reach the port. So the USA will pay it not the other
Politicians passed crazy regulations forcing companies to go overseas for cheaper production , I'm sure getting money through stocks and "donations" from these companies. Tariffs are going to give incentive in bringing production back to America which benefits America.
Tyrone you’d educated me more on world topics than the news channels in general. Keep doing the thing oooohhhh yeah!!! Dig it!
Canada really doesn't like maga or the American government right now
What you said about groceries is exactly how I feel about gasoline. It will be bought either way, so a dollar or two difference does not change much. That being said, gas will never be $1.50 per gallon ever again. Oil companies are not in the business of losing profits.
That's what people said during BO, then DT came and it got to $1.58
I'm waiting for Thomas Sowell to drop some wisdom
I miss the talking outro Tyrone does at the end of each video as he walks away from the frame of the camera 😅maybe it’s just a sign of not wanting his videos to end😂😂😂
Tyrone you’re my kind of dude -> “I’m the type of dude that will make a pot of soup and eat it for two and a half weeks.” Dude I am the exact same way, I can easily prepare a nice home cooked meal and eat on it for a week straight lol! 😅😂
I'm worried for lumber coming from Canada. I'm finally building a home for myself.
Yup and California has to be rebuilt. The housing market in America is about to take a major hit.
California going to be making smaller homes 🏡
So exactly how would this mean more money in our pockets? In order for that to happen, either wages would have to increase or taxes would have to go down or away completely.
He did talk about doing away with the income tax and using tariffs instead (which was what the US did initially way back when). In fact, I'm sure you know the income tax thing was supposed to be temporary, and not a permanent thing.
It like you’re not even trying to think about this.
Less illegal workers leads to higher wages and Trump hasn’t been shy about cutting taxes.
It’s almost like he can do multiple things at once
Real, I don't know the specifics but it sounds it won't change anything anyways
More money in our pockets thats just going to go right back to them anyways
@@EdenMB-w3x If you think capitalist businessmen, who like to make a profit will want to increase wages for workers, then i have snake oil to sell you.
@@cirstincurry7259 you think it would hurt us more? you do realize with Trump burning bridges with other countries and trade unions, that Canada can join those and even be more profitable than they were under the treaty with the US? Canada had already been working on plans to join the EU before Trump opened his mouth. If there is a deal between the EU and Canada, Canada will now be trading with all of Europe as opposed to the States.
Scar-Lo Vs a week of soup! Can she do it ? 😂
The fact of the matter is he cannot ensure you’ll have more money in your pocket nor does he care. Also Trump isn’t this savvy business man y’all think he is and it’ll show.
Big Business opportunities with these tariffs, companies can shift the sources of the product from different sources, opportunity to start manufacturing in the USA find different sources make big profits.
do we have the raw materials, man power, and land to produce in America?
I’m looking forward to the No tax on overtime
These Tariffs aren't going to do a DAMN thing...But I still like Trump, but the photo of him makes him look EVIL!
Treating ur closest ally like that is leaving u with a bad rep. There are other things above money that Canada has given the us.
Ever heard of a piggly wiggly 😂 glad I live down south we got plenty cheap groceries stores
Just saw Mexico and Canada's economy is going down the toilet.
I've heard Sanctions are better than Tariffs. I don't know how, but Trump may want to look into that.
Hard to lose a tariff war when you are already at the bottom of the barrel
I thought Justin Trudeau resign.
And they all rely a lot more on free "aid" fun the US than we rely on them.
In any case who l what you and I think doesn't matter. Are werent elected president, we can't do anything to change it, we aren't responsible for the outcomes. Trump is. All you can do is wait to and hope for the best. But like what do you think the EU is going to do, go join Putin instead? Or just exist with Putin on one side, the US on the other, hostile with both? That might be interesting. Maybe China engineered this all. 😅
@@justforever96 The EU has 100 million more people than the US. If you think you won't feel a trade war with the EU, China, Canada, Mexico, I don't know what to say. If the US thinks it doesn't need any other country, I have to say you are just nuts.
@@justforever96 China is the number 1 exporter of goods on the planet. A trade war with them alone would be devastating. You combine them with Canada, Mexico, and the EU and we’ve got an unfortunate situation on our hands. Countries that would usually trade with us will turn to china.
Any thoughts on China just imposing 15% tariffs on the US?.
Even when it comes to Canada, the US has a trade deficit of nearly $64B. This indicates a significant increase compared to previous years - in 2022, it was $53.5 billion. And that doesn't include the cost of porrous border security with illegal and drugs flowing in - not as much as Mexico but that's not saying much. Level playing field time.
Maybe if the CIA stopped funding the Cartels and Americans stopped using drugs, then it would not be an issue.
'How to lose all friends and make everyone enemies' - Donald J Trump 2025. With a foreword by the entire American population on why sky rocketing prices in the US is just GREAT! And how its all worth it cause orange man says it is so it must be true.
At the very least it will bring them to the negotiating table. Trump is absolutely right when he said these deals are one-sided. Deals have to be mutually beneficial.
I live in the hills on a cattle farm that has chickens, I will surviiiiive.
