Nice project car dude! Say, if you're not trying to keep this Camaro as original as possible, the best upgrade you actually can do is to make those hood vents on top of the hood actually open and install Trac Spec Hood Vents, since running your engine hot on summer days is a very common thing to experience, ask me how I know. By installing the Hood Vents you'll never ever run your engine hot anymore, no matter what engine is in there.
Talking about engines... yeah do your research dude... see In the 80's GM did not want to spent too much money on their products, so they spend the bare minimum, which means that everything is just matching, and there is no room for just a little more:
    My 1987 Iroc-Z28 305 V8 with a Borg-Warner Non-World-Class 5 speed manual transmission was available only !!! with the 305 V8 with 220 Hp.
The 350 V8 (5,7Liter V8) came with 230 Hp and was NOT !!! able to get with a manual transmission: the one and only available for the 3rd Gen Camaro: The Borg-Warner Non-World-Class, because GM feared many warranty problems because the 230 HP would chew up this Borg-Warner 5 speed gear box. Yeah... so we're talking 10 Horses difference...no more... and that's obviously enough to chew up the entire weak Borg- Warner drive train, because not just the gearbox was Borg-Warner, nope, the entire weak drive train was Borg-Warner.
A much better solution would have been the choice of Ford: They actually had a Borg-Warner 5 speed gearbox - Drive train in their 80's V8 Mustang, but this was the World-Class edition, which was a lot stronger than the NON-World-Class edition GM choose, but it was cheaper...
So choose carefully what you want to do with this Camaro, I mean an LS solution is great, but has to come with an entire drive-train swap, able to cope with the additional power the LS of your choice will generate... Just so you know.... :-)

I’ve done LS swaps before but I’m going to try to keep the Tuned Port in it. Got it tore apart now for new injectors and fuel pump regulator.

The T5 is fine behind the L98. Running slicks and powershifting is what breaks them. I know of several people with souped up cars running the wct5 behind the l98 for years. Gm didn't want the Camaro to be too similar to their posterboy Corvette.
