    A few things, the SSD cable you got is NOT a SATA cable, it's a USB to SATA adapter and limited to 480mb/s where as an actual SSD is capable of 480MB/s (8 times faster than mb). It's better to connect a SSD to an actual SATA port for that reason. The memory you bought is 4 gigabyte not megabyte, and because the linux kernel in use is only 32 bit, the maximum addressable memory size is 4GB. However, because some of those memory addresses are in use by the motherboard, the usable memory size is more like 3.5GB, which is still better than 2. Finally, the USB memory sticks you chose may be small, but they have significant problems with heat and longevity when used full time. They get quite hot, and start to quickly fail if used as a permanent USB drive. They are made for transferring data, not as permanent storage. The larger USB sticks are better for permanent installations because they spread heat more evenly. It is also possible to use thermal epoxy to put a small heatsink on many of the metal USB sticks to further help with heat.

      The usb sticks are ment as permanent storage, but not as permanent operating storage. I know that you know that but the sentence is probably easy to misunderstand.

    Hi Kris, I'm on the edge for shoot on a new Kronos 2 and I'm a samples geek, so may i ask something?
    1) what exact kind of SSD is the big 500gb you use with the adapter;
    2) where is adapter connected? Internal USB? and if yes so you use the usb 2.0 retro-compatibility of the adapter... is it correct?
    3) if I understand correct (I'm not so good with english... you see?) you have 2 mini-usb PNY internal and 1 external... correct?
    Tnx man cheers!

    Why not just install a 1tb SSD and call it day?
