JNY KINDERGARTEN CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION 2024

To foster cultural awareness and create globally minded educational experience for young learners, JNY Kindergarten celebrates Chinese New Year Celebration on Wednesday, 7 February 2024.
All students play an important role in a special performance which summarise one mythological story about Nian Monster, a fearsome monster that terrorises villages.
According to the legend, Nian would emerge from the mountains on the eve of the new year to devour crops, livestock, and even villagers, especially children. To protect themselves, the people discovered that Nian was afraid of loud noises and the color red. As a result, they started using firecrackers and decorating their homes with red items to ward off the monster.
Over time, these traditions have evolved into the celebrations we now associate with Chinese New Year.
