I've done full solo trips to Hong Kong Disney & Disneyland, and then partial-solo trips (friends would be with me for part of the trip) to WDW, Tokyo Disney, and Disneyland Paris and I 100% agree! I love going at my own pace, deciding what to eat/ride when I want, but also taking it slow when I want. I will watch the Carousel of Progress 3 times a day if I am alone 😂
I love solo trips! It’s so nice to do what you want when you want to do it. On my last solo trip for Princess weekend, I was in line for Toy Story Midway Mania and the cast members kept calling me a limited edition🤣 highlight of my trip!
I love visiting with the characters and having pictures with them that's why I go by myself a lot of people would not want to stop for the characters to have pictures
I absolutely loved my 1st solo trip. I highly recommend it to everyone. The funniest part was how nervous I was telling my boys ( young adults ) that I was going without them. They were so nice about it & actually excited for me
This is great to hear. I have been to Disneyland Paris solo for the day twice during trips to Paris, but I never dared to WDW alone, fearing I would feel too lonely. I'm retiring in ten years in South Florida and I am sure I will want to spend more time in WDW. I'm single and I don't know if I'll have someone to travel with. This makes me very optimistic! I love your Christmas tree circuit. I hope to do it. Pre-internet I remember a guide to WDW that included a chapter for solo travelers. There was a curious mention that the resort lobbies all had comfortable chairs that a solo traveler might want to sit in.
I love this so much!! I love listening to you talk about going to Disney 💗... Not my friends , nor my children nor my husband will talk to me about Disney as much as I would like 💕
I’ve done a semi solo Disneyland trip and it was FABULOUS! It was just as you said - you don’t feel guilty doing what you want to do and you can change your mind instantly and do something else. In this trip I was speaking of I was meeting friends and family different days while I was there alone - so part of my trip was solo.
What I wouldn’t give for a solo trip to the end of the driveway let alone to Disney. Might need to consider this after a full year of bring a suddenly work from home stay at home mom with a 3 year old. Did I also mention I’m pregnant? 😂 after I’m done nursing mom is going to need some time away ALONE
Jessica congratulations and YES. My first solo trip my twins were 18 month and my oldest was 3 and a half and I was losing my mind. It wasn't to Disney (just a local hotel) but it was a game changer!
Omg this trip sounds like a dream! Totally related to your comments about not being able to slow down and enjoy all the little details of Disney with the family in tow. Another money savings tip for staying at the Poly (or any DVC resort for that matter): rent DVC points!
I’ve never done a solo trip but I did take a day to myself when I went with my sister’s family way back before I had my own family. I really just needed a break from them and it was great to do everything I wanted to do and just take it all in :)
"I know a lot of us have our family with us...all the time" Tell me about it, wow. I have been watching "Disney solo trip" videos all day, just dreaming up my hypothetical solo trip. Great scott, I've been in the house since February of 2020, I am in desperate need of a vacation. I love my husband and my cats, but wow, I need some me time! Pardon me, I resonated with that, and am glad I'm not alone, haha.
I've done 2 solo trips & YES you were my inspiration! I was an only child, so being alone is normal for me. After raising my children, being able to do what I wanted, when I wanted, was WONDERFUL! Would do it again in a heartbeat!
Here because i just planned my first solo trip, never even thought of reserving in my husbands name! thats genius and for sure what ill be doing in the future, can never be too safe
Jen, I think I tell you this every week, but I adore these videos. Gives me some great trip ideas and something to look forward to. Best to you and yours! 😊
Being a single person, I've travelled solo all my life! And I love it!! It's so relaxing and you can do what you want to do, when you want to do for the most part. I've done a couple of tours to Europe, which is pretty fantastic too, because they do everything for you! Love this video. Gives me the Disney Itch!! Thanks Jen!!
I'm absolutely loving these videos! It was so funny, the muggles (non-Disney lovers) used to be so confused when my husband and I would go to Disney, just the two of us, without the grandkids. I'm saving now to take the entire family next year, but I do plan on working in a solo trip at some point. What fun!
I'm a big Disney fan and I love to drive. We love our family trips but in addition, my wife has her spa weekends with her girlfriends and I drive the 1000plus miles down to Fort Wilderness for a couple nights and then drive home. Sometimes I feel eyes on me while dining but otherwise I find those trips VERY relaxing. :)
I just got back from a solo trip. I stayed one night for free at the Swan and splurged for two nights (at a good discount) at the Grand Floridian! I was nervous to tell my kids but they understood - even though they’re young. They were excited to FaceTime with me throughout the day so they didn’t feel “left out”. But all the things you talk about at the beginning are 100% true! I spent most of this trip just looking at exhibits and details and sitting down in spots my kids would never have patience for. This won’t be my last solo trip, that’s for sure!
Yup. Once you've done it once you get it!! Sounds DELIGHTFUL and good for you for splurging on the GF! That's one place we've never stayed because it doesn't appeal to my boys but I'd ADORE it!
I went on my first solo trip this last year and it was amazing. Headed back for a long family trip soon and I know I am going to love it but really also miss that flexibility that came with the solo trip. I stayed at Yacht Club which I would highly recommend for a solo adult!
@@JenLefforge Wonderful. Thanks Jen! I want to hopefully purchase DVC next year. I have done 12 Disney trips with my two daughters and we probably could have bought a DVC contract with all the money we spent over the years ago but we never did. ; ( I think we have also done 4 DVC tours while visiting during our stays too. We love getting the $50 Gift Card. LOL My husband is not a fan of Disney but we have really enjoyed our girls trips so much over the years. I am hoping to keep our Disney Trips a tradition with my girls and hopefully with my grandkids one day too. If I am lucky I will sneak a few solo trips in : )
I am intrigued by a solo trip. Never done one. My husband and I are on the same page though and have gone twice just the two of us. Very relaxing. I love this series!
Hi Jen, just found your site and love it. After raising my sons (my husband still works and never wants to travel more than 2 weeks at a time), I stepped out of my comfort zone and started traveling the world and Disney, without kids in tow, what a blast!!. Life is too short to wait. I always use the "I'm a party of 2" safety tip. Everything you said about traveling alone hit home and I totally agree. I still get those who say "you travel alone, aren't you afraid." I always respond "afraid of what? Doing what I want, when I want and eating what I want." Insert a chuckle and a laugh). And start planning my next trip....which is Disney later this year, and when the world opens back up take my rescheduled trip to ThailandVietnam and back to Europe ASAP. Love your content.
Jen, you have a new subscriber. I'm a late bloomer when it comes to Disney resorts. My family didn't have the money when I was a child. In recent years, I've made up for lost time. I've been solo, and I agree with ALL of your sentiments in this video. There's something so special about being able to keep yourself in a zen state of mind while surrounded by the swirl of people in the parks. I particularly love to make magical moments for hard working cast members by showing them some form of appreciation. Thanks for all the great content, and for sharing your love of the magic with us.
Hi jen, thanks for this, it's been my favourite fantasy trip yet. I am always a solo traveller wherever I go. All of these tips can be used in whatever city you are in. I normally take snacks with me for the day and then have an evening meal. Its great to meander around with no specific timings and change your mind whenever you like. And you really do seem to have a lot of time. On a trip to DLP I will do everything you suggest sit on main street and watch the world go by soak up the atmosphere and have a very leisurely trip. BUT as a brit, trips to the US parks are more of a marathon from ropedrop to close!
This came at the perfect time!! I have a conference near Disney in March and plan on going to Epcot one afternoon/evening. I will also frequent Disney Springs for meals! I've done a park day (MK) by myself but my family was back at the resort so I feel like this 'solo trip' will feel the same as that did! I definitely just wandered around the park and enjoyed the details and background music. I actually took my nice camera with me into the park and took some photos I wouldn't otherwise make the time for. I'm excited to wander around Epcot this time and your Epcot day sounds like it would be similar to what I would want to do!
OMG I LOVE THIS... im a single mother. on the cusp of having an empty nest. I LOVE DISNEY.. and want to learn how to do this solo... i love watching this cause now it doesn't seem as intimidating... just the rides worry me cause i will miss my girls.. but i guess i can stroll.... idk... just wanted to say THANK YOU.
Omg I never have done a solo trip but I did do a solo day in Animal Kingdom when my family was waiting for Avatar. I literally did everything you mentioned....I saw the Lion King show. I saw the bird show. I wandered by the tree of life looking at all the critters. And my favorite part was I waited in line to have a photo with Mickey and Minnie and had a lovely chat with another guest waiting in line. I had a fabulous time!!
I love the new graphic in the beginning! This series is so much fun🤩 You have so many great recommendations. I would definitely love to take my time exploring Animal Kingdom and doing the Christmas tree tour around the resorts. Looking forward to the next one❤️
I just LOVE these videos they are sooo fun I look forward to each Friday! It feels like tgif is back like when I was little and looked forward to watching shows Friday night! You can just feel how much you love planning these and planning Disney vacations are my MOST favorite thing to do!! Can't wait to keep watching!
Only time I went on my own was when I was attending a conference at the Contemporary Resort in 2003. Loved it because I explored on my own and with colleagues :). Fun as usual and thanks for sharing.
I salivate thinking about being able to take a solo WDW trip. The ability to stop and browse or go real fast at my own leisure without anyone complaining sounds like heaven.
You make the best videos. Like little Christmas nuggets every day. Did EPCOT by myself one time and it was amazing. Love the family, but would love to do a whole solo trip. Just planning it would be a blast. Thanks for the vid!
Hi Jen you have inspired me your. And do a Disney solo trip. I have started couch to 5 k and I am enjoying it . Something I never thought would ever happen
I'm taking my first solo trip next month (actually my DVC Welcome Home trip at Bay Lake Tower) and absolutely can't wait. I know it'll be extremely different from usual though!
I went on my first fully solo Disney trip not long ago. I loved it! I do love being there with my husband and kids...but it was so freeing to be there on my own for a hot minute.
I agree that the water doesn’t taste as bad as it used to. Maybe they’ve gotten better at processing it over the years. This past year, we decided that we didn’t need to buy bottled water anymore at Disney. Just fill the double-walled water bottle with ice water and go!
I have my first solo trip next month!! It 4 nights, two of the nights my childhood friend will be with me and the other two I will be solo. Also going to be going to 3 different resorts, BW/BLT and Poly. So excited!!
I am loving these so much! I agree that the HS Christmas decorations are amazing! I love them. Keep this series going. There are so many possibilities. Thank you for all you do! Wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day!
In Feb 2020, I got to go for one night solo to experience Festival of the Arts. My kids are elementary age, so they're in school during this festival. I LOVED it! My flight was about $70 round trip, stayed at All Star Movies & my only luggage was my backpack. Such a great trip!
Well this was so fun and now I want to take a solo trip! 😂 But your next one, budget trip with young kids is actually much more like what I will be doing so I’m excited to hear your plans for that! Although we could probably not afford to stay at Boardwalk right now. I love that you stopped and to wait for the otters.
Coming from the UK I'm not sure I can manage to get a whole solo trip, however in yet another lockdown here, I'm dreaming of some solo days in Disney having just bought our first dvc 😊
I laughed at the “get real” on ordering some wine at Top of the World. Which is so what I’d do. Never taken a solo trip, but I have done a solo afternoon when everyone went back to the pool. I spent the entire time walking around the World Showcase and having so much fun. I could definitely do a solo trip. Enjoyed this. You could have a travel planning site.
I do love my solo trips but sometimes I stopped feeling guilty that I didn't bring my daughter and grandson but I just can't afford it I really enjoy the time to myself
This trip sounds SO amazing that I would love to take it! Oh my gosh - just doing whatever/whenever how nice is that? I had a one day sort of solo trip that, due to flight standby delays, did not turn out to be much of a trip so this trip that you’ve planned sounds heavenly! 👏😃
Our thing is we have a PBJ and carrots every late afternoon after swimming at our resort, then snacks at the parks later in the evening. We’ve saved so much money this way! We eat a larger lunch and it just makes life easier for my family and saves money.
I have a few (more than 10) solo trips under my belt to Disney. At first dining alone was strange and I did more counter service, but quickly decided that I did not want to deprive myself of the experience of a sit down restaurant. Gradually started eating at bars/lounges, which I still love as a solo, but also do sit-downs, too. Hope this strategy with dining helps someone. And, yes Jen - wholeheartedly agree about telling a "white" lie -- either a conference or going to a wedding and others in my party are arriving in a few hours. Also, I feel safe at all resorts, but do like the inside corridors of deluxe for a solo trip.
I suggested to my husband that before our family returns to DW again that it would be a good idea for me to travel solo (or at least with a friend, no kids) ... you know, as "research" ... since so much has changed. He fully supports this idea. I'm actually seriously considering it! :)
I would like to do that thing going to resorts Resort just to look at the different results but I don't think I could afford to stay at the Polynesian so I rather stay at Pop century All-Star movie Resort so I can take my vacation and I don't have to wait another year
This year 2024 I went to animal it was one of my last rides it was this young couple they asked me if I was alone and I said yes so they said why don't you come and ride with us I thought that was so sweet I was at the food court at all star movies there was this it was crowded on that day I couldn't find no seats so this lady was with her daughter she was why don't you come and join us so I thought that was very nice you always meet nice people when you're by yourself
I love this video!! I have my third solo trip planned for May at Old Key West( 1st time renting DVC at this resort). My family and coworkers just don’t understand the appeal of going solo-but they’ve learned to accept me for who I am. 🤣
Ughhhh I want to do a solo trip so bad. The hotel cost is what usually trips me up since it's pricey to do it just for me. Hubs gets frustrated with WDW costs sometimes & he says 'just go alone then', which is so tempting and he knows it lol. Appreciate the refresher on some budget tips!
I had finally decided to do a solo trip (it was going to be like three nights solo and a couple nights with my SIL, so a nice way to ease in) for my birthday last May. We postponed to July. Then canceled. Then postponed to this upcoming May. That’s not even looking good but after this past year and all the rescheduled trips, I’m like super duper ready for solo travel. 🤣
I've never done Disney by myself, but I have done many solo international trips, and I absolutely love it. This has definitely convinced me to try WDW! My frequent Disney travel companion is my best friend, and she also is keen to "stop and smell the roses," but I'm 100% sure that there is a lot that I have missed -- especially in Animal Kingdom!
Transportation aside, Kidani Village is my favorite! The pool there is so underrated. It’s a perfect, quiet spot for a day of relaxation. Plus Sanaa is soooo delicious. Sounds like an ideal resort for a solo trip! 😍
Hi Jen, you’ve actually inspired me to plan a solo trip of my own.
Oh my goodness, I love that, Jeni!
Solo trips are great. I have not done a solo vacation but I did solo park trips during my Disney College Program.
They were so nice about it & actually excited for me
Oh yeah, my kids are 100% on board with this! Plus then when we go as a family I don't make them do as many things they don't want to do!

Did EPCOT by myself one time and it was amazing. Love the family, but would love to do a whole solo trip. Just planning it would be a blast.
Thanks for the vid!
Oh my goodness that's my new favorite comment! Thank YOU for being so encouraging!
SOOO much fun!
I'm so glad you could make the premier, Chevonne!
This video is a great reminder to do some time at the resorts and the parks. I will be doing this!!!
I'm so glad! You won't regret it!
Hi Jen you have inspired me your. And do a Disney solo trip. I have started couch to 5 k and I am enjoying it . Something I never thought would ever happen
I love all of that!
My first post divorce solo trip was to Disney. I was nervous I’d feel “lonely”. But I loved it!!!! Thanks Jen!
I'm taking my first solo trip next month (actually my DVC Welcome Home trip at Bay Lake Tower) and absolutely can't wait. I know it'll be extremely different from usual though!
Congratulations on your contract!
This video was so helpful! I am taking my first solo trip in April
Last trip I went to Disney I only did one adult beverage that was at The boathouse
I got a Brita water bottle on Amazon and it is great for when you need to refill your water bottle in the park!
How did I miss this video!! Thank you for justifying my mommy time😂
For HS I love the kids’ pizza at the quick service on Sunset Blvd.
I went on my first fully solo Disney trip not long ago. I loved it! I do love being there with my husband and kids...but it was so freeing to be there on my own for a hot minute.
Yes exactly! And it’s not that we don’t miss them but it’s a different experience and that can be good too.
I also love grapefruit beer!
I agree that the water doesn’t taste as bad as it used to. Maybe they’ve gotten better at processing it over the years. This past year, we decided that we didn’t need to buy bottled water anymore at Disney. Just fill the double-walled water bottle with ice water and go!
Glad to hear it’s not just me!!
I have my first solo trip next month!! It 4 nights, two of the nights my childhood friend will be with me and the other two I will be solo. Also going to be going to 3 different resorts, BW/BLT and Poly. So excited!!
OMG! Thank you so much for planning my solo holiday trip! 2021 or 2022 for sure! I am so excited!
Love this trip! Hope I get to experience one day...thank you Jen for letting me daydream 🤗
I’ve never gone to Disney World solo but I’ve gone to Vegas solo a few times some of my best trips
I just got back from my first ever solo trip! What an amazing experience.
Right?!?!? People who haven't done it don't get it!
I am loving these dream trips! Thanks you. I find such good tips in each one.
I’m going for Christmas this dec for the first time. So excited to see the decorations.
I want this trip and itinerary so bad!! We all need it, don’t we? I’m really aching for a solo trip where I can wander and explore !
For the holidays you also should squeeze in the Christmas tree trail at Disney springs!
I think when my boys get older I will be doing solo trips!
I have never done a solo trip! I've been there over a dozen times and not one solo trip! I want one now!
Someday I would like to stay at the Polynesian
I do love my solo trips but sometimes I stopped feeling guilty that I didn't bring my daughter and grandson but I just can't afford it I really enjoy the time to myself
This trip sounds SO amazing that I would love to take it! Oh my gosh - just doing whatever/whenever how nice is that? I had a one day sort of solo trip that, due to flight standby delays, did not turn out to be much of a trip so this trip that you’ve planned sounds heavenly! 👏😃
I went for 2 weeks in December by myself for my birthday and then I just went two weeks ago for five days by myself it was wonderful
Our thing is we have a PBJ and carrots every late afternoon after swimming at our resort, then snacks at the parks later in the evening. We’ve saved so much money this way! We eat a larger lunch and it just makes life easier for my family and saves money.
Yes this is genius and would work great for my family and me!
Kimberly thank you for that comment! I'll admit I felt odd dining alone the first few times but now I love it even at really nice places!
I suggested to my husband that before our family returns to DW again that it would be a good idea for me to travel solo (or at least with a friend, no kids) ... you know, as "research" ... since so much has changed. He fully supports this idea. I'm actually seriously considering it! :)
Hello, BTW - and Happy Friday! :)
Kelly YOU MUST do it! You would love it!
I’m a big fan of grapefruit beer too... in fact I think the first time I had one was at the ESPN restaurant at the Boardwalk.
I can get them here locally but only do so for special occasions because I want it to stay special!🤣❤️
Fun fun!
I've often thought about doing a stay at AK and only doing Animal Kingdom. I love it that much.
Transportation aside, Kidani Village is my favorite! The pool there is so underrated. It’s a perfect, quiet spot for a day of relaxation. Plus Sanaa is soooo delicious. Sounds like an ideal resort for a solo trip! 😍
