    Lyrics:
Towers in the sky and slums where they lie
Where we live and die for un-Godly causes
Greed in their eyes, disguised with the lie
That they're helping us, and yet we can see through
Their intentions, they don't match their words at all
The ghetto knows the shame of submission to man
To fight a war, a sacrifice must take place
It sure ain't fun, but it sure beats being enslaved
Nine steps ahead, to beat dead foes where they lie
'Till Santa comes, it's just one more lost Christmas
    Rebels avoid the Gestapo march
To distribute arms and literature that
Commands us to not oblige to the debt
They've passed onto us, so they can indulge in
Deadly pleasures we're contracted to provide
In the end that's what they really want from us
At the expense of the world
To burn a throne, we set light to the black coal
That Santa left behind for all bad children
Ten steps ahead, to burn down lodges where they meet
'Till Santa comes, it's just one more lost Christmas
When you can't run away, what do you do?
    More plastic, more nitro
Slapped down beside all the windows
    Rolled cable, now unfolded
It's rigged up, ready to explode
Our time will come when we are free
From what traps us in this city
All souls get ready for countdown
    5 4 3 2 and a 1, BOOM!
When bombs explode, CCTV gets shut down
With weapons packed, we infiltrate and ransack
For what we've lost through unfair tax and debt bonds
To claim what's ours before these vampires catch us
Rewind the quest, we're relegated back to
The ghetto slums after a violent beating
Behind cold doors, we'll miss the Sunday sunrise
'Till Jesus comes, it's just one more lost Christ Mass

This is an excellent piece. I find the different textures fascinating to listen to. Did you record any instruments or was the majority of it done with soft synths and your DAW? One of the lyrics near the end of the song got my attention. I think it went as follows, til Jesus comes. I thought I might ask, do you think that Jesus is who He says He is and that He's done what the Bible says?

Recording instruments is a bit of a hassle for me, so I only recorded my voice. Everything else is mostly soundfonts with some soft synths and prerecorded samples I got for free from a few sources.
As for the lyrics near the end where Jesus is mentioned, for your question, I will answer yes, and as for what the last lyric line means, it means that the people represented in the song are one step closer to the second coming of Jesus Christ and the final judgment, a more serious shift of tone from the coming of Santa Claus to give coal to all the bad children. Additionally, "Lost Christmas", the name of the song, has two main inspirations. Firstly, it comes from the anime Guilty Crown, where it refers to a virus that is central to the story (and sounds cool in a bittersweet way). Secondly, it is a reference to Britain or England under puritan rule by Oliver Cromwell, where celebrating Christmas was banned. I can't remember if he ruled just England or Wales and Scotland as well. This expands into the universe of this song and the next 18 songs I plan to write, where the city the characters live in is ruled by a "woke" oligarchy not too dissimilar from 1984 by George Orwell.

A further elaboration on the instruments: I use almost a full orchestra (minus a few unpitched percussion instruments) along with the instruments of a typical heavy metal band, plus some extra plucked string instruments like acoustic bass guitar, nylon and steel guitar, Chinese guzheng, piano and dulcimer (this instrument is the weirdest to me out of the ones I use). I also have a Rhodes keyboard, a Hammond organ and a pipe organ thrown in as well. As for electronic soft synth sounds, I have two supersaws, one has a phaser on it and the other does not, and I have two saw and square based acid leads, plus filtered noise for some cool FX. I will probably expand my sound on the electronic front. As for orchestrating it all, it's mostly as simple as melody, harmony and bassline. Harmony is where it really gets fun, because you can literally design it to support melody and bass up to 11. The most you can do with melody is create countermelodies that harmonise or create call and response. Otherwise, I don't really think too much about how I write my music and I just put down what sounds good and makes me feel good in my head while imagining some fantastical scenario or something. There is always a strong visual element tied to my music that I usually try to reflect in the cover art.

@@ArkforestMusic I read 1984 when I was a teen. I didn't finish it though. It was very frightening for me then. It was really sad how both Winston and Julia ended up. I will listen to your song again; only this time I'll give more attention to the lyrics
I practiced piano on and off for years ( mostly without a teacher ). As a senior I've gotten more into it. I wish to form a small ensemble of people ( preferably in my age bracket ) who can do tribute material of legacy R&B, jazz, gospel and praise and worship. Basically a lot of old school material. Right now it's just me learning the ropes. As a senior, I'm passionate about learning new things. I've always been a nerd and always will be. My point being that I'm soaking up as much as I can when it comes to technology while at the same time preserving and developing legacy skills that I value.

@@ArkforestMusic Wow! This is something that you have really put some effort into ( and obviously developed the skillset along with it ). You work with a very intricate sound palette.

I don't really care, to be honest. I personally like somewhat of a squashed, aggressive sound with some of my music, and this song leans on the conservative side of how I typically master my music. It will sound even better if you download it (for free) from arkforest.net/shop/lost-christmas
Go wild with fake details if you really want, I want to release my music for free now to get paid in more exposure. It's that simple.
