This is amazing. I tried to play Midtown Madness a while back but I had no idea the game permitted this sort of out-of-the-box play. Thank you for showing me that it does.
IBETHISNAMEISTAKEN This is a pretty shitty run actually... I have done it without smashing into my oppnents. Also, the vus just sucks so hard, but it's worth it to unlock the Panoz GTR. The truck is WAAY better and is my favorite :D
@@DragonUltraMaster really? I always found the truck handling to be rubbish and felt that the bus was more durable. Just tried to run the game on a new pc but unfortunately none of the tricks on the internet worked so far without it crashing the game art startup
I tried with the city bus too, without trying to crash the opponents. I followed the red Panoz Roadster which luckily crashed near 0:55 and I was able to destroy it with one hit while it was stopped. Then I just followed the rest of the checkpoints and reached the finish first in time 2.01.75. Five thousand points have never been easier.
This was my childhood game, my favorite car was ford 350 since it didn't skid around tight turns I did so many circuit races with it and set personal time records.. Like the North end navigator was my favorite Man I loved this game!!!
Is there an easy way of damaging the Ford F-350 with the City Bus or Freightliner Century? I tried it about a hundred times (I already did this, but I came in second or so, so I didn't damage the Ford pickup truck) and I want to earn a lot more points and win the race.
I've been using this strategy since I was a kid, so I guess this was a natural run for me. Sadly, I don't exactly know what else you can do besides what I did here to damage the F350. I don't really want to smash my opponents, it is a cheap way to win. You can do with without smashing into them if you're faster.
@@DragonUltraMaster me too, if I tried anything slower than the panoz roadster the others would win, and I would crash prematurely with the roadster. Then I tried this trick with the pickup but also died, finally with the bus it worked

In which graphics settings is the game set?? I remember having a desktop computer in my childhood (the PC was from 1997). The game was set maxed out, but it ran at like 5 fps on that PC. With this type of settings, it looks like a PSX game, and might have run well on that computer.
All races are hardly possible with it. Beginner's Luck. I wrecked all opponents. Tough Turns & a Tunnel and north river sun. I won both of them and uploaded them. Soldier Sneaker. Even I uploaded that with a city bus. Freeway Flyer. EASILY DONE. Nocturnal navigator. Done with a City bus. Beat the bridges. Easyyyyy. Crosstown Switchback. HARD AS POSSIBLE WITH WRECKING ALL AI. Perimeter. Uploaded it. Aptitude and beetle blast. both easy. Frosty Finale. CRASH ALL OPPONENTS AND WIN ALL RACES :DDDDD
Haha I was such a smart kid when I realized to do this back in the day :D I was not good enough to win all races by racing (always crashing and making mistakes) so my brain invented this strategy. Fun to see I was not the only one doing it.

I never knew anything about changing the gametype when I was a kid. I only used the "Driver X" settings :| I also did it with the truck, I believe I have another video on that... but with the truck this strategy is so much easier.
Have beaten every checkpoint race with the Freightliner Century which equated to 60,000 points (5,000 * 12 races). Also it is way more fun to destroy cops and other opponents with the truck since it is quick and easy to maneuver!!
If you're talking about the Panoz GTR-1 (exclusive to Professional mode for unknown reasons), 5,000 points isn't enough to unlock it. You'll have to do more races to earn 3,000 more points.
As a Kid, I couldn't either. I didn't know about the gametypes. The game has "Normal" difficulty as default and to unlock the Panoz GTR you have to change that manually to professional. I was so angry about it. To be honest, I'm slightly disapointed to how it turned out to be. Not beign able to run over the edges was frustrating. But it was amazing to hear the guy say "you have now unlocked the panoz GTR" - I didn't believe him first xD

City bus used here: CTA’s 1990-91 TMC RTS-08 before 2001

hard to believe..... the first map is a straight map, you can't get in front of the other cars to smash them and win

I set the maxdamage of the police car to 900000 instead of 1400000 so they aren't op…
I tried this all those years ago but was never able to wreck the pickup without either getting wrecked or having it finish!
