Very educative
I agree with much of what the man shared, he over stated and placed undue weight on the role Asantes play in the hatred towards everything Asante. Asantes are mostly accepting, respectful and supportive of other people than the other way. The people who hate and harbor adversity for Asantes do so not, for the most part, the reasons he propounded. They do so for mere visceral hate, envy and jealousy.
Dikoman is in the Eastern Region but Otumfour elevated the stool to paramountcy. Therefore, the guest’s submission that Asantehene can only elevate stools in Ashanti and the former Brong Ahafo Regions is false.
Moreover, it was not the colonialists who gave Asantehene the power to elevate stools to paramountcy. Asantehene has the power of elevation as the very beginning of the formation of Asantehene. One of the requests of Ejisuhene, Diko Pem, who was one of the four people to sacrifice themselves for Asante to triumph over Denkyira was to elevate the Ejisu stool to paramountcy. I think he meant the regions Otumfuor controls, notably Ashanti, Bono & Ahafo. Of course he knows Worawora is also part of Asanteman.
Note: No President in Ghana can turn down the King of Asante, the paramount chief created.
The Ghana constitution which created the President position, is the same constitution that retained that power to Asantehene.
The same as if any constituency has elected its member of parliament, there is no speaker of parliament or President who can revise it.
The power of the people to elect their representatives is the same power that the constitution has given to Asante King to elect a Paramount chief in his jurisdiction.
Ghana is not a “Nation-State” but a Unitary state. The same as United Kingdom is a Monarchy State, in which The head of State remains the King/Queen of England permanently.
The story he just narrated about the elevation of Sunyani to paramountcy is half truth. When the then Takyimanhene, through the BA House of Chiefs, requested that Otumfour Opoku Ware II cease the elevation of the four Tano-Subin towns to paramountcy, Otumfour (IN HIS OWN WORDS) said Awua-Dominasehene informed him about the government’s intention of elevating Sunyani to paramountcy. And to correct the guest further, Ghana is NOT a nation-state. A nation-state is a group of people who live in a defined geographical area and have a common ancestry…Ghana is a state; not a nation nor a nation-state.

He got just a few wrong, but I think the host is not well-versed in culture and history, hence those questions. When you are 'smart in your questions', it helps your guest to deliver. Don't you think when Mr Agyemang mentioned only Ashanti region, Bono & Ahafo, and the host also brought in Dikoman and Worawora, it would have helped in the convo?
