Spray Painting a Slurry Tanker for a Farmer New Holland Tractor Pt 1 and 2 (oor wee spray shop)

Spray painting 2 pack paint (Devilbiss Gti Pro Base Coat Spray Gun) Seat Leon blue which is a better colour match for the New Holland Tractor, that will be pulling it round the field, I'm spraying in the Farmers shed so there's over spray, but is something different rather than doing Autobody repair on classic cars at Oor Wee Spray Shop

Hi, what size fluid tip would you recommend for the GTI Pro when spraying a tanker like this with 2K direct gloss without a dedicated booth.

1.3 set up i used, it depends on how fast you can paint and how thick the paint is, i had the paint quite thick 10% thinners, if i had to do another one i would take the Devilbiss PRI primer gun with 1.8 nozzle set up with me as an option as well as the GTI pro

Thats a nice job you did there after a month it'll never look that good again with crap on it. I used to paint lots of tractors and JCB Backhoes When I lived in the U.K and have done a few tractors since moving to Canada. I was watching you painting on that ladder and thinking I hope he don't fall off on the side of it. We've got some pretty big bugs here compared to what we had in England, As you know some little thing that nose dives in the paint and bulldozes across as it makes a mess trying to die can be annoying spraying without a sealed booth.
These bugs here sound like a Hercules transport plane coming in to land, and make a mess like a D10 dozer went across. I'd hate to think what you'd do with 2 pack paint and a person imprint in the side, that won't buff out in a hurry !. I'm guessing as you don't have forced breathing air that 2 packs not a real nasty toxic one, If it was I guess he'd be getting the tanker painted and the vermin fumigated in the barn as well. super6954 This was a once off paint job outside the norm, with booth and air fed mask, spraying 2k in a barn isn’t the best for the health I agree it was the farmers compressor I didn’t want to breath the compressor air either, sanding old paint can be just as harmful, ISO count would have been through the roof on this one, I think the farmer never used the slurry tank they sat outside for 3 months on display then were sold for a good price, only small insects in Scotland called midges eat you alive (bites) and fly into the paint they come in there millions luckily it wasn’t midge season ..never trust a farmers barn floor or ladders,..Canada has some size of farm machinery cheers

Great job 😎, I’m just about to tackle a similar job....1650 gallon slurry tanker. How much paint (also hardener) will it approx take me to complete ? looks about the same size as the tanker in your video

Martin Freeburn thanks, it took just under 3L paint, for 2 coats, 2.5 L of hardener and 1L of thinners...the first coat was set up 2 paint to 1 hardener and 10% thinners, the second coat I wanted to be faster and the was 2 paint to 1 and a bit hardener and 30% thinners,,. The more thinners that is added the faster it goes on but loosing a little bit of shine,,., 1.75L paint was used first coat and about 1.25L on the second, the paint is 2 pack, Genrock
I had the benefit of painting 2 over 2 days, I ordered up 5L of paint

£300 for spraying 2 tankers, all the preparation was done for me all i had to do was mix the paint and spray, and he bought the materials and it was his compressor which was only single phase 150L, which could just about keep up with me, but not if was wearing an air fed mask it wouldn't have
