The short film was parodied on The Disney Afternoon series The Shnookums & Meat Funny Cartoon Show in the Pith Possum segment "Darkness on the Edge of Black" (part of episode 2).
I actually got the Blu Ray of this just for the animation alone. I fancy myself as more of a Spider-Man fan but the disparity between this and Spider-Man's 60s show is ludicrous. This is decades before but looks straight out of a classic Disney movie. Kudos to the folks at Fleischer for creating such beautiful visuals. Just for fun, each of those robots must cost thousands or even millions to make and he's using them to steal money. I know it's a regular bad guy thing but it'd probably take forever to make back the initial cost even without Superman thwarting him.
