- Ready to explore Pluto? NASA’s New Horizons - the fastest spacecraft ever created - will speed past Pluto on July 14, 2015, beaming back high resolution photos (and invaluable data) of the dwarf planet’s surface for the first time in human history.
We, the members of the National Space Society, believe exploring the unknown for the betterment of all is among humanity’s most essential pursuits. We honor the historic New Horizons mission by commissioning the inimitable Erik Wernquist to create this video.

Impossible not to shed a tear while watching this video.
money voted to the trash, never the human being will be able to live in pluton.
Only humans who have Christ will live in a more distant place than Pluto, we will live in the Kingdom of Heaven. So if you want to go further than Pluto, look for Jesus
That is by far the most amazing soundtrack I've heard in recent memory!!!
I love that Pluto looks like that in that image, when in reality, it really looks different
The heart shape was a surprise.
Even just on this UA-cam Page, I see people of all different cultures and languages, speaking for their own mystery and wonder. I see no fighting, no supremacist, no complaints about borders or politics. This is what humankind is, and we are Planet Earth. What will it take for the rest of people; the ones who can't see beyond their own rock, to look up and realize how small they are? How do we get the governments to stop tracing acres already discovered, and start exploring again? To everyone complaining about crampedness, and overpopulation I say LOOK UP. This is where the future lies, and keeping you head down deprives your grandchildren's children from their dreams.
Something like that makes me proud to be a human being
I wish mankind did more of this instead of fighting each other over petty issues :(
Last moment make me cry , How something of our industry goes there and is seen from the surface of that planet
Please mankind
more this,
less stupid.
Thanx
#science #awesome
Good stuff. Something to look forward to.
this was exactly what i thought.... so sad to see how people are stupid while we do and can do so amazing stuffs... anyway...
Not gonna lie...I cried a little bit. I was a year old when Voyager 1 passed Neptune. My dad always said he wished he could have talked to me about it and showed me the pictures as they came. I just wish he could have been here to see this. :') Thank you, NASA.
I've got mass effect vibe from this video :D
SekretZdzicha me too! Cannot wait for Andromeda...
Anthony Reddan Er, is that like, a new ME title?
SekretZdzicha We don't even know how to live on the moon yet. this video don't mean jack. Stupid propaganda making it feel like your tax money is being spent wisely.
Leave this nonsense to yourself.
Mami Burger
Leowulf The Second yep! Announced at E3 yesterday!!!
I could watch this clip over and over again.
It shows how far we can come if we work together!
That awkward moment when a trailer of a scientific event tops those of all the fictional movies.
I've loved space since I was a little kid, I always been fascinated with what Pluto looks like, so this is a big moment for me.
01:47, nearly tear inducing.
Why waste so much money on something that will be useless? no human being can ever go to pluto, God did not design pluto for human beings.
No human being can go to Pluto, only humans who have Jesus, we will go to a place farther away than Pluto, we will go to the Kingdom of Heaven
This is going to be amazing; and it's just under 3 weeks away! I'm glad they showed Pioneer passing Jupiter in 1973, and Saturn in 1978. Very nice tributes to the probes who ventured far before New Horizons. And don't forget Voyager II with Uranus and Neptune!
As a kid I cut out a newspaper article covering the launch of this spacecraft around a decade ago, it's actually so incredible to finally hear that it's completing its mission!
I call dibs on any extra moons of Pluto.
*****
It's not up to NASA. They don't own Pluto. No one owns Pluto except the first to call dibs. But Shatner doesn't count because... I'll think of something.
Cabhan Listis ... You can only call dibs if you actually go out there and physically claim them.
Hurricane Floyd Not necessarily, the way that the "dibs" system works Is for who ever discovered it first, and If there was another moon NASA could and most indefinitely will since they found it first
Yuuko Aioi I'm probably butchering how it works but there is a Crash Course Astronomy video about it
Yuuko Aioi NASA didnt discover pluto. And it is impossible to claim a planet or celestial body due to some agreement that I forget the name of.
Аж мурашки по коже...Hello from St.Petersburg! С:
July 15th, Charon Relay discovered.
Seeing this brought a tear to my eye. It is one of the times that I'm proud to call myself a human, when we can put our petty things aside to accomplish amazing things like this. Stunning!
Finally! I've been waiting half my life for this! I'm 18 now and New Horizons launched when I was 9! :) Super excited ♥
goosebumps!! cant wait :D
This video gives me shivers down my spine....I like this alot!!
Hell! Yeah!
omg yes, i'm excited
Skylord Luke Yeah, can't belive Jack Black is staring in it!
me neother
Congratulations, from the bottom of my heart, to all the brilliant minds who made this beautiful dream a reality.
Utterly amazing! Tears in my eyes.
Carl Sagan would be proud! :)
His full name is
Carl Drew Sagan
I got the chills! I'm so lucky to have been born in this time! ^_^
Something like this really reminds me that this place we live in is so much more than we give it credit to be. Space will bring us to new heights, and I can only hope our curiosity marches on.
This is the most stunning video i've ever seen about the New Horizons Mission since 2006. Pluto Encounter in July 14th,2015, I've been waiting for nearly 9 years, the last planet unseen before.
"We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still."
Это просто офигеть. Наконец-то исследуют еще одну планету.
I did notice it had a bit of a "Wanderers" feel. Erik Wernquist cooks up some amazing space imagery. Kudos to him!
Simply Beautiful, also this really reminds me of the Mass Effect Trilogy.:D
Невероятное и захватывающее событие!
8 years ago TODAY, New Horizons flew by Pluto, showing us its heart! Clyde Tombaugh would have been thrilled to learn that Pluto loves us the way we love it!
1:47 that part always gives me chills
This is so Beautiful and Breathtaking, I think This is what it means to be human
I'm actually crying.
It's things like this that made me pursue becoming an astronaut. Space exploration is just so beautiful and amazing and I don't think we appreciate just how awesome it is, that 50 years ago, we put people on the moon. 20 years from now, we'll have people on Mars. And that's just the beginning. Space exploration is so endless and I only wish I'll live long enough to see us in places we never thought possible to go before.
Increíble - Great Video
i want the soundtrack from this. full version. I'll cry myself to death otherwise.
I've been waiting for this since I was a kid.
We are so lucky to be living in this era. And luckier are those who will be witnessing and experiencing the next generation of space explorations
Is that Gus Fringe talking?
SANFRAN TROLLS DOE "EXPLAIN YOURSELF"
SANFRAN TROLLS DOE Probably some dutch guy.
SANFRAN TROLLS DOE IS THE FOOD TO YOUR LIKING?
zak bro haha thats a good one.
no00wa He sounds decidedly Swedish.
congratulations! You've taken my breath away - I am full of awe here -
I bow down in respect to who so ever created this video.
MORE! MORE AMAZING WORK LIKE THIS!
Also, MORE SCIENCE!
beautifully done.. Pluto is finally within out view...Best news I've hear from this planet in a long time
greeding to the National Space Society from Germany👍 you guys doing a great job
I have been waiting for it since 2006. We will finally have the normal photo of the Pluto in the school books!
太棒了, 作为人类和地球的一份子, 我感到非常的骄傲
As a common person i must thank all scientist that made this possible. i mean, all this knowledge you give free for all the humanity, as a kid i always read books about the solar system and i always wondered how they really look like.
you and people like you made this possible, for free... for the humanity, you send us there.
That's so amazing , guys can you realize the technological development ?? 523 years ago we learned about the new continent called America and now we have reached the borders of our solar system... What will happen in the next 500 years??
Wish could live when a big interstellar exhibition would take place in the far future !!!
Although the narration appears a bit lofty the whole thing gives me goosebumps. I think the name of the mission is spot on, because those who are not willing to fund that kind of science have a limited horizon...
I just love love LOVE this video. As much as Wanderers. This is so… Truly amazing ! Thanks for doing that !
Explore! Not war.
So what they're flying something past Pluto really cool I love everything about space and the stars
What an incredible achievement, literally day by day the images being sent back from NH are getting clearer and clearer.....its amazing the probe is less than a month away from closest approach after nearly ten years en route.
Then in a couple more years we'll have at least two Kuiper Belt Objects to fly-by..
3:01 that scene (epic song + saturn) gives me goosebumps :d
Do you mean 1:01?
En la parte final del video me sentí en la superficie de Plutón, observando la pequeña estrella moviéndose en el cielo, justo como lo hago en la Tierra viendo la Estación Espacial Internacional sobre mi cabeza. Cuanta inconmensurable belleza.
The way he said it, it almost seemed like Pluto was still a planet.
It'll still be exciting to see the pics come in though all the same.
Damn, if only there could actually be a movie about that, I would be so exited.
To say ... I am ridiculously excited ... is a mammoth understatement ...
Ready since late tomorrow and all time of our life, thanks God.Thanks NASA, Explorers and UA-cam by share it. The soundtrack is also amazing.
This is like a trailer to an award winning movie!
Simply awesome! Looking forward to 14 July!!!!
My salute to al the people that have been part of this mission.
i wish one day i will work on something like this.
Space exploration has come a long way ever sense Russia launched Sputnick 1. It's so amazing how we as a human race have accomplished so much, including the Apollo missions and sending a satellite from Mercury to Pluto. But what other new horizons await us?
Твою ж мать! Аж мурашки..)
This could be cut up into a thriller/intense drama movie trailer! I am so excited to see new discoveries from the New Horizon's data! :)
1:46 gives some excellent chills
2 days and counting .. This is Awesome . Only a mission to Mars is bigger
And yes , for the purists out there , I'm aware Pluto is not officially a planet .Doesn't matter , we've never been there before .. and is the 1st of the KBO , Kuiper Belt Objects, to be explored. A whole new frontier of the Solar System to be explored . And we're there
I am still wondering how we still are in contact with the space craft after nine years. What a miracle.
2015... discovery of the Charon Relay.
Аппарат New Horizons подлетает к Плутону. Восхитительное видео.
PS. Надеюсь, Маркин уже отправил запрос в генпрокуратуру?
please, soundtrack, please...
I feel like NASA has been watching E3 and felt inspired to make a similar trailer for their New Horizons next upcoming mission.
what a time to be alive...
WE DID IT !!, what i'm feeling right now cannot be put into words
This felt more like a movoe/game teaser than an exploration mission
Have they given a round-about time of when this is going to happen? (Morning, afternoon, night). I'd stay up till the wee hours of the night to watch this firsthand!
hopefully one day we will be able to capture real high def video from all of the planets in our system and see them as they really are
I'm going out to celebrate when this happens been waiting since 2007 when I first heard of it.
A small container carrying Tombaugh remains is affixed to the insider of the upper deck of the probe bearing the inscription: “Interned herein are remains of American Clyde W. Tombaugh, discoverer of Pluto and the solar system's 'third zone'”
If this mission inspires "them" to reinstate Pluto's planethood, I will be on the moon, because I will have jumped there out of joy.
Maybe should add an USSR probes to the list? For example Luna 9 - first man-made object to soft land on the Moon, or any other extra terrestrial surface.
Venera 7 was the first spacecraft to successfully soft land on another planet (Venus) and to transmit data from there back to Earth
Or "the humanity " again means only U.S. ?
I know I'm answering a 3yo comment but... I don't care.
This video is about the first flyby of the planets. And while the USSR undoubtly achieved a lot in space exploration, they never were the first to make a flyby of one of the planet.
If the first flyby of another planet had been done by a USSR spacecraft, it would have been on the video.
@@khenricx I know I'm answering a 1yo comment but... I don't care.
n1 mate
Manly tears have been shed
It's a cliche, but yeah: gave me goosebumps!
As soon as i saw this i thought of the Wanderers video! Great to see this team doing well.
Your epic voice makes me cry with joy.
So amazing... Difficult to comprehend.
so cool cant wait to see beautiful pluto
Video gave me goosebumps such epicsity.
Great to see mankind involve itself for the better ; Instead of wars we should be advancing mankind for greater good
This is so, so, so AWESOME!!! Science FTW!!!
Fantastic movie and really beautifully made. Just a couple of questions though. In this movie, New Horizons is seen to fly past Pluto on the 'right' of the planet (as seen from the sun). Other movies, the New Horizons website and even the Eyes on the Universe simulation show NH flying past on the left. Also, the movies and Eyes on the Universe show Pluto as being much further away (about 7000 miles i think) than shown in this movie. I have to admit though that this close fly by is simply gorgeous and very awe inspiring. I guess at the end of it all I would have to put it all down to some very wonderful 'artistic license'. Congratulations!
Wow this is fantastic!!! And the music is incredible mindblowing!
This film reminds me the Mass Effect!!!
Can't wait to see more pics as we zoom by!!
I am so pumped for this that everytime I start talking about it, I just cannot stop talking about the wondrous things we humans have accomplished in such a short amount of time. From the Greek legends to 400 BC when China started flying kites and started wondering what it would be like to be on that kite to Leonardo da Vinci's drawings to hang gliders in the late 1800s, we are about to witness closeup out outer most planet.
I am so ready to witness this in my lifetime.
Amazing! Can't wait to see what is in store.
Out of all the probes we sent out this is the longest shot and our greatest glory.
Long live the human race. 2015
Imagine if New Horizon spotted an alien research station/building on Plutos surface, it would be so surreal.
That soundtrack was epic!
