Love it! I do this stuff in the living room too, but my wife isn't so enthusiastic about it. LOL! Your DIY, low-budget way of doing things is great; shows others that we don't have to have all the fancy tools and equipment to get a great looking product.
😁🙏❤️ I’m so happy that comes across, thank you!
I will be watching this vid many times.
I want to make a leather bag/case for my macbook pro as a first project learning leather crafting. I LOVE that you've lined it. I have a ton of extra heavy fabrics around, like denim. My 400 pound x left his clothes behind and I am upcycling them into useful things! So I will line mine with denim.
penelope 2232 😂 good for you girl! Get some actual use out of all that fabric! 👏🙌♥️
Beautiful. Great Tutorial. Your visuals and verbal instructions are very helpful. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
Thanks so much 😊❤️
I don't see any imperfections, ive seen high end bags that have the darker spots. it actually makes it look nice and gives it character.
Imperfections and all are absolutely beautiful.
Thank you so much ❤️😊
Remember, your stitching line should be the same distance from the edge as the thickness of the total thickness. You could've trimmed off another 1/6" off each edge to bring the stitches closer and getting rid of some of the separation of glue and leather that I was able to see. This is good for a first or second medium-sized project. Overall, well done.
Beautiful project! A couple of things to try in future: decent size foam sponge for laying on dye (you coat a larger surface area in each sweep and can control application better) and tokonole for smoothing flesh side and burnishing edges. I went from water to beeswax to gum trag and eventually gave in and ordered the tokonole. I’m also a lover of mink oil for final conditioning as it keeps your veg fan soft and water resistant. Cheers!
Thank you for the tips! Cheers 😊❤️
From Spain, I like your works and your talent.
Turned out great!
Very cool! Am going to make my son one for his laptop!
Nice job. to help with a bigger project instead of using a dauber use a wool pad and go in circles. it will help with evening out the dye and help with no streaks. Also maybe check out saddle stitching. it is a better stitch to use then one needle. Hope these tips will help you out.
That was GREAT ! Exactly what I was looking for. What a beautiful outcome. Thanks a lot ! Love
Yes..there r a few imperfections but i still like what u did an how it ends👍🏻good job🎈
The imperfections makes it look unique and great! Good job man!
I cheap Harbour Freight air brush might help you get a more even dye job.
You can never have enough CLAMPs ;) that's a nice looking bag and I like the idea of using some old pants to line it. Great job man!
Never! Thanks man, that old pair of corduroy pants has really come in handy!
Practice makes master. Pretty awesome project. Congrats
Thank you 😁🙏❤️
Use an oil-based dye and rags or sponges, as applicators, to get rid of the streaks.
Pretty dope to see your skills getting so broad dude, cool stuff.
Bet you used square space for sewing classes😊😊😊!!!!
I use a fine china bristle paint brush for dye. It always comes out even. full wide strokes ya know. i was skeptical myself but it does work great
Looks fantastic!
Thank you
Not bad at all and it will outlast the laptop it protects, several times over.
Beautiful
Thank you!
lol,i wanted to learn make a bag for my laptop ,found your video and recognized you have laptop same what i have )
This is wonderful and inspiring! Thx for the video!
Thank you
Love your work, your videos should be newer. I hope to see something you made last week even though I love what you made last year and would be more than happy to attempt it. Where does one buy leather goods like that? I would like to make something first out of neoprene
Thank you! I have lots of newer project videos 😊
I've bought most of my supplies at Tandy Leather. The employees are really helpful and a great resource!
Great job and Great Video!
The tools just made me lose hope lmao... I don't have that much or that complete set of tools.
I just want to make a custom laptop bag damnit! xD
Aside from the swivel knife, I think most of the specialty leatherworking tools came in a leatherworking starter kit from Tandy. To make the holes for the closure, I used a $10 hole punch from tractor supply. If you're interested in getting started in leatherworking, I think that kit was about $100 and worth every penny - it gives you the tools to make tons of projects. Good luck!
@@MorleyKert Thank you so much for this... I'll definitely get it
This is super cool!!
bonjour, j'aime bien ta vidéo car tu a fais des erreurs et tu les a laisser , comme ça on voit bien ce qu'il ne faut pas faire. merci
Thank you!
What weight leather did you use?
5-6 oz
Nice
The stitch exposed on the bottom of the case at 10:07 made me sad.
Me too, especially when those knots failed within a few months :(. You live and you learn! I've since moved the knot to the side of the case.
From where do you buy the leather sheets?
I cut the pieces for this case from a large portion of a hide that I bought from Tandy Leather.
@@MorleyKert What kind of leather did you use? I like how firm it is. I'm wanting to make a simple fold over bag for my laptop and a few documents.
@@jaredshearer7989 Veg tan leather, I think it's 6-7 ounce.
Came out amazingly! 🙌🏽
Thanks!
