    Love your podcast and work Grace! I enjoyed this conversation, I would just like to request or "suggest" (unsolicited lol) to possibly insert photos of the specific products she is mentioning in the video, just a suggestion for maybe the next person you interview xx

    0:20 my mom had this exact same bag in the early 80’s when I was a little kid (yes I’m old). She bought it at the Aloha Stadium swap meet here in Hawai’i, from a vendor that sold goods imported from the Philippines 🇵🇭. It was made of bamboo, and I always thought it was super cool😎. This woman did not design this bag. I don’t know who did, but this design was in existence long before she was born, and I have the pictures of my mom using it to prove it 🤗.

      Important to note. This bag is Asian. I bought a bunch in Bali.

      Cult Gaia actually sued Michael Kors for copying this bag that they did not invent MK counter sued and had them pay their legal fees!

    Jasmin seems sleepy and bored. I think CG has some beautiful designs, but she's an example of a founder who had the means to outsource every aspect of her business. All she had to do was have an idea, and she had the resources to hire experts to execute for her. She never acknowledged the insanely privileged place she started from. Love this pod but I'd like to hear more stories from founders who had to be scrappy and have a hand in building every aspect of their business.

      AMEN. So so true. It's almost like she's forced to be there for this interview. Doesn't feel authentic and like you said, she's outsourced everything so it's not something that was built by her from the ground up. I'm so with you on this :)

      It's partly the LA accent (think Kourtney Kardashian) but I also wonder if she's on the benzos. Especially when she said she doesn't remember the "fires" she has to put out lol

    Similiar to her I was never good at patternmaking and or sewing, I think it's absolutely so separate to have a brand version vs good at being a seamstress, so I could relate to her story. What I did notice though is it sounds like Cult Gaia's success started with her having a very strong network/knowing the right people and her degree in marketing probably helped her a lot in her process of making it the big brand that it is. Love the brand, & enjoyed this interview very much!

    I didn't enjoy this guest. Grace nailed it for me, as always asking smart questions and being a great listener. However, I find the guest superficial and while being so incredible nepo baby and privileged, she didn't acknowledge that not even once. In my opinion there is no shame in coming from a more privileged background, but I think it does make a difference being aware of the major advantages you have in your journey trying to succeed (in business, in school, in life etc)

    • @Judgement494
      @Judgement494 4 місяці тому +6

      She already mentioned that she grew up around creativity and art. what more do you want from her? What difference would it make in her business if she announced that she acknowledges others not having a privilege; at the same time not doing anything about it. Wouldn’t that be superficial?

    • @ABCClassroom9
      @ABCClassroom9 4 місяці тому +9

      @@Judgement494 mentioning creativity and art does not mean privilege and her huge helping hand in life. she skips over this intentionally by saying creativity and art.

    She hates people who sell their Cult Gaia pieces on eBay which goes against sustainability because they want to protect their brand image and not have their stuff on a secondhand marketplace but how can she expect customers to continue to support the brand when they have to throw away their pieces instead of contributing to circular fashion and giving someone else a chance to buy their stuff! I LOVE Cult Gaia so you can imagine my shock and upset when they took down ALL of my Cult Gaia eBay listings!

    Dear Grace, I totally understand the psychological bonding, that is done consciously or unconsciously through the voice and that american creaking... but you have such a lovely british authenticity - it's unbearable to listen to, when you do that voice too... please just be you - you're amazing - then listening to both of you, would be a huge joy, because she is lovely and who she is - and you are obviously anyway too ❤

    Spend $20,000 on a handbag instead of $200 on a Spend $20,000 on a handbag instead of $200 on a H Q D U P S bag. Spending $20,000 on a handbag is worse than spending $200 on a replica #hqdups bag. Then invest the remaining $19,800. The obvious choice, since a $20,000 bag is unlikely to appreciate in value.
