The burden is on the carrier to prove this. If not satisfactory, you WILL be arrested and charged. They are very serious about this! Shops selling knives (even kitchen knives) may not have them on display in a retail area either! Only a picture, and then upon purchase, they will package the item for return to your home. I often feel a bit naked without my SAK!

To follow up on your knife comment: In Denmark you can use a pocket knife, if for a purpose, like going hiking and such, but you can't have a knife on you when going to public places, like school, efter school places and such. You can also have it with you on a bus or a train, but must NEVER be left unsupervised. Then there are a maximum length, some knifes are illigal and such. Denmark is the land of laws. You can also get arrested for calling our police names. It's pretty stupid.
