Almost 7 years later and the opening music still gives me chills. I hope that others still come back to this video to remind them when CrossFit became special to them.
I started CrossFit a little while ago and it was one of the best decisions I've made. Before I started, I definitely underestimated how brutal it is. You really have to be committed, but it is well worth it for the feeling afterwards. The men and women that compete at the games seem to not feel pain. They are willing to push themselves past the point of exhaustion for the sport that they love and it is a huge motivator for amateurs like me. However, the only negative aspect of crossfit is that you need a lot of supplies for it. It is an expensive workout.
I love Camille. She is an amazing athlete, and she understands what kind of sacrifice and the emotional toll that takes to be the best at something. What I like about her is that you can see her evolve as an athlete from 2010 to 2015, and it is great to see the work that she put into it in those 5 years. And also she's a full time student for Chemical Engineering and she struggled with eating disorders before Crossfit, she is truly a fighter. She's a true inspiration.
I'm a crossfitter and I respectfully disagree. Calling people ignorant to the methodology of crossfit "idiots" is unnecessarily disrespectful and frankly, pretty unintelligent in and of itself. He's talking about METCONS vs. the complete picture, it's not serious enough for name calling. "Misguided," "ill-informed" or simply "they don't understand" would've sufficed. We get it though, he's passionate. I imagine discussion on topics outside of working out with Rich Froning to be inspiring and thought provoking.
***** He literally gets tested all the time. They show up at hotels and random places they know he's going to be. (this is what I've heard so I can't say this as a 100% fact. Just trust me, though… he's not on roids.)
Michael Wright Well, in my experience, there's a willing ignorance about CrossFit and crazy hatred and name-calling directed at CF. Having a conversation about how strength and conditioning are within CF and that metcons should be used to track progress or in competition settings doesn't usually work with the people I've encountered. So if they won't hear reason and are unwilling to have a candid discussion without getting caught up on something like kipping in a competition, they are idiots.
Ambis Magee I think we all encounter the same issues socializing the validity of crossfit. I don't debate with the uninformed about it and if I did, I honestly wouldn't mind being called an evangelist. Top "personal trainer" cert programs teach HIIT that looks alot like crossfit to me. It's evidence based, results driven and time tested. It's science. I predict our military to centralize their training methodology around cf in the near future (they're already incorporating it now). And no question, Froning is our Tiger Woods of the 00's. He's an amazing athlete and I appreciate what he's done for the sport through performance alone. My assertion was based upon the notion that the top reps of our community should treat their leadership role with respect. However, I'm pushing 50. 20 years ago, I would've been on board with "**** em, if they don't get it or refuse to try to get it, **** em!" Anyway, there's a more than a solid chance that only crossfitters have made it that far into the video.
I loved the part where Cam was struggling with the sled push. Watching these people in the Crossfit Games makes you think that they're superheroes - they make it look so easy. It's amazing to see the grit and grime they have to go through in order to make those movements look so effortless.
I'm glad that Chris Speller made the comment that there is a difference between what the average gym member at a CrossFit gym/box does, and what CrossFit Athletes do as far as training goes.
You can say anything you want about Crossfit but you just can't deny the fact that the dedication and the drive people have because of it is inspiring and just fun. You can go to the gym and see buff ass people just being miserable and not having fun during their workouts. But people that do Crossfit are just more open minded and go in the gym with a different attitude.
mike alley he said that buff ass people in the gym look miserable and assumes they hate their lives which isn't true. Different people like different things. I didn't know you had to cross fit to be dedicated toward fitness.
Lukas Pommerenke You could probably find crossfit people who don't have fun in their workouts too. All my bodybuilding friends freaking love pumping iron in the gym, as do I.

And you wonder why champions NEVER train in Crosshit, NFL players, Jon Jones, GSP, Ronda Rousey, Floyd Mayweather, Hockey athletes. LMAO! Just the mediocre insecure people that feel the need to stand out and swing around on the pullup bar like a fish out of water.
Gordo Thomas How can you call crossfit athletes mediocre weightlifters? Mat Fraser was an olympic weightlifter and is elite. Many og the athletes have 600+ deadlifts and 450+ squats. You also mention that other pro athletes in different sports don't do crossfit, which is a lie. Head Coach Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints has incorporated crossfit into the team's workouts. They actually benefit from that type of training. Boxers and MMA fighters usually don't do crossfit, although there is exceptions, but there's a reason for that. They train for a specific reason, which is to fight, and therefore they go through a specific type of training. So why should they do crossfit? To me you sound like the stereotypical tough guy that hates crossfit because it's "homosexual". Btw.. I would like to see you compete in a crossfit workout against any of the athletes that ever participated in the Crossfit Games. You would get crushed in every single workout by every single of them, so why don't you shut up.
Oscar Gonzalez You mean there are 1 or 2 people who were olympic athletes that turned to crosshit? No shit, there have been olympic athletes that have turned to everything. They've turned to drugs, they've turned to murdering, some have joined other sports like UFC, Hockey or wrestling. Is that your stamp of approval? "Well olympic athletes have done it so it's okay!"
