I lived in Antaiji last summer in Japan, that was also very hard, cos technically is a autonomous farm-monastery. Do you think is possible to be accepted here?. I was trained in Chan Buddhism of Hsu Yun (linji/rinzai) lineage. And now we are in a Harada-Yasutani umbrella in México.
It is worth trying...they get many apllications and can accept only a limited number of people, but if you show them you are motivated and dedicated to do long term training, you have a chance...
I dont understand this.. SO he just wants to wake up from the dream of materialism? Can we say that somebody can come to that center and pray to the God with Arabic way or to Jesus the Christian way and thus >>> become less materialistic. I did not get this video... Is this video teaching a certain religious dogma that is contradictory to let's say >> christianity? OR they just want to become less materialistic and wake up from the dream of materialism, completely irrelevant how they do it? Is their goal more important or the practice how they do it? Is this a religion or just a tradition of becoming less materialistic? Can somebody teach me and explain to me... Thank you in advance
It is his reason to practizise Zazen. There can be thousand of reasons and no reason for beeing a zen buddhist. Me for example. I started with meditation because I thought; Oh man, thats prety cool. And today I am a Zen Buddhist.
Buddhism is non-theis religion.. non-theis is different with atheism..you can try read e-book Living With Siva, Dancing With Siva, Merging With Siva to understand eastern religion perspective about God..if you can find the connection between Shivaism and Buddhism your knowledge about this world and yourself will be clear
I am a little late here but I'll try to explain it. First, Zen is not a religion, it is not a dogma. There is no holy book or scripture, there is no God, heaven or hell. Zen is a form of mental training to obtain "enlightenment" which is a state of mind where you as the individual doesn't exist, you do not have an ego, are unselfish and are part of everything and everyone around you - that state of mind is your "soul" but it has been clouded by the external world and materialism. So zen teaches you to "unlearn" being a person and to learn being the soul (buddha) that existed before you were born.

Anywhere between 40 minutes and 60 minutes - sometimes longer. Depends on the Roshi. During a seshin, many zazen sittings are done in a single day for periods of up to a week.
Are you allowed to visit as a tourist? I'd love to visit it soon. Mag je deze tempel bezoeken als toerist? Dan zou ik deze binnenkort eens willen bezoeken.
Yes you can visit as a tourist. If you also want to do some zazen (zen meditation) and see some of the inner quarters you can go there at sunday mornings 8 pm, they have a one hour zazen meeting with tea afterwards for lay practitioners, which is lead by a priest. Come a little earlier or call ahead and you will probably recieve some instructions too.
@@kitevaldres Well, this lady came in because she had the clear objective of making a TV-documentary and spend time there as a documentary maker, which was agreed upon among the staff. BTW she was only there for a week or so. If you want to spend time there as a zen trainee and join the full training program, you might be able tot get in if you contact them by email of phone, but you gonna have to show them you are very motivated and dedicated and are willing to stay there long term. They get many applications, way more than they are able to accept since there is limited space and they are not interested in people who only want to try this training for a few weeks...
