Yoo another beautiful one brother! Question: you got all those sends set up based on the CLA video you did and you’re using them quite extensively (and brilliantly if I might add!) and you’re also using reverb on these individual tracks or busses. Can you explain your process there a little bit as to why you’re not just adding more verb with the sends as opposed to adding another reverb directly on track? Thanks man, really appreciate your content!
Thanks man! And for sure... basically If I just want a tiny bit more space or effect for, lets say, the main vocal, I'll put some verb directly on it because I like the vibe or the colour I get from that instance of reverb. If I instead put that verb on another reverb send I have, then all the instruments going to that return track will get that added instance, which may or may not be a good thing. In my case, I just wanted a few specific tracks to get that colour or that extra bit of space, not every track that's being sent to the return tracks.
I think I didn’t specify that correctly. Sorry. What I meant is, say you already have your regular hall or plate send on your vocal and you’re even sending a bit to them already. Why, as opposed to just sending more of the vocal to the already engaged sends, add another reverb directly on track? And if you created a new send for another reverb and you just sent the one track you wanted it on to it, why would that interfere with other tracks? Thanks bro!
When you get these stems, are they all dry? Are you making the decisions to add all the flavor to the vox group or is that a collaborative decision bt you and the artist? The song sounds fantastic. I’m fascinated with how big you were able to make such an intimate song.
I get all the vocal stems dry yep! As for the instrumental, everything else is what I produced and recorded, and I tend to record and mix as I go. With Jay, we've worked with each other for a while, so typically he will send over a demo with some rough ideas for how he wants the sound, and then it's basically just a thing of trust. I'll produce the instrumental and send it over to him, sometimes he will give notes, other times everything just works so he records the vocals and sends them back
Can yall tell my dogs to STOP BARKING OH MY GOD

@@mtchlrtoo seriously great work. Knowing your guy and having that trust allows you to just work and I love that. Thanks for pulling back the curtain!
