Merry Christmas to all my friends and subscribers, and all those out there that just love the sound of the vacuum cleaner. Many people find the sound of a vacuum cleaner soothing and relaxing. This type of white noise may be helpful for concentration, sleep initiation, blocking out background noise, ASMR, or soothing a colicky baby. I don't know why, but the sound of the vacuum cleaner gives me shivers and always gives me a sense of comfort and peace.
The sound of a vacuum cleaner and a hair dryer give me the same exact feelings as you said, ever since I was was a kid. I'm now 44 and they still make me feel similar when I hear them. When I was a kid I thought I was the only one. It's nice to know many others feel the same and that it actually has a name... ASMR.
Darren Deist Hairdryers also give me that feeling, but I prefer vacuums. I don’t like other ASMR things, such as people whispering and such. I’m also in my 40s and have felt this way since I was a kid. Sometimes if there is a vacuum in the distance, I’ll get goosebumps before I’m consciously aware of the sound.
38 here and get the same with both hair dryers and vacuums, also thought I was the only one until UA-cam provided me with these videos.
Tony Robson I feel like those of us who have this reaction probably have other things in common in our personality or way of relating to this world. Wish I could meet some fellow “vacuum sound appreciators” in person so I could test this hypothesis.
It's an extension of nostalgia that causes that!

Not feeling great today the sound of a vacuum is something I've found comforting since I was a kid. This is no exception it's so calming and relaxing.

When I was a kid, I assumed that everyone got the shivers from a vacuum cleaner. Only when I realized that others had no idea what I was talking about did I realize it's just a special subset of the population :)

So many people find it strange. But yes, we feel good, warm, at peace or sleepy while listening to this kind of sound. I believe this is great for us, so many people need medicines, this is free and with no side effects.
