The only time Hawthorn or any other team won the pre season final and the regular season final in the same year!

Carlton were scoreless in the first and last quarters of this game - something that has not happened in a V/AFL regular season game since St. Kilda against South Melbourne in 1919.
Ironically, Hawthorn were later that year to be South Melbourne’s 23-8 (146) second half in that game with 25-7 (157) against Geelong in front of a mere 9,848 at Princes Park.

That second half by Hawthorn against Geelong in Round 21 1986 I think will never ever be beaten again in a half of VFL/AFL football ever Guodade. It's just a shame that only over 9,000 people saw the match that day.
