- Here is the new hoist that my Dad and I installed recently to help us work on old cars and our new ones too.

Floor spec if your floor is 4 inches thick and I inches from and edges or cracks.
If your floor is not up to the job (drill a hole in it to find out) cut and pour a new pair of slabs a minimum of 4x4 and 10 - 12 inches thick with rebar. If your floor is very thin consider keying under the existing floor 6 inches for more distribution. This will give you 5x5 square.
Use a concrete saw to cut out the holes in your floor, dig to the right depth using a flat nosed shovel with a scraping motion. Compact the soil very well.
We used Toggler Wej-it PS 58 epoxy anchors and drilled with Bosch 7/8 8 inch SDS Plus Bit. These can be bought at northern tools under the MaxJax anchor kit. Buy an extra tube of epoxy and a strong caulk gun for use.

Nice job on the install !,Jack I know you are a young man I’m not as I am approaching 60 pretty quickly watching you lift all the lift parts to demonstrate how you store them made my back hurt you really should try lifting with your legs and not bending over so much trust me those things will catch up with you and cause lots of discomfort years from now as we get older everything takes way longer to heal I didn’t listen when I was young but I wish I had in my fourties I lived in a WheelChair for. A little bit and some of that as related on how hard I played when I was young

Nice set up. You should of just ran a 2-3" pipe under the concrete for your hydraulic lines.. just a thought..
The Hrysler Garage thought about that but the pipe would fill with salt water and stuff from the snow and ice.
John Kaufmann I was thinking just running a 3" PVC pipe to both ends and putting a end cap on.. have the pipe come up about an inch off the concrete then drill whatever size hole in the end cap for the lines.. I was worried more about mice making a nest then snow and ice.. but I think that could solve both problems.. any way like your set up. Hope to do the same.:-)
The Hrysler Garage great! I love having a lift and this an excellent options if you don't need to be lifting big diesels.
Have a longer hose made and run it overhead.
I've researched just about every conceivable lift for a home garage. I considered the Maxjax, but this one seems to blow it out of the water. I'll still have to do some mods to the garage for any lift I buy, but this may be the best option I've seen. 72" lifting height with posts that short is very nice.

A garage ceiling at 112 inches or 9 feet, 3 inches. ..our MY98 911 coupe, ..MY06 Jetta GLI, ..MY79 Beetle convertible and MY06 Outback XT wagon should be cake to lift creating access underneath. .. Having a wide open property setting allows for secondary exterior concrete pads. ..An outside lift allows for power wash removal, ..degrease, de-road salt of the undercarriage in late spring with the cruddy water runoff in the surrounding treed woods. .. With movable lift columns and set-up ease an exterior use should be cake. .. Thanks for the video tutorial !!

Really old video...hopefully Jack is around to answer. Looking at this Triumph C7000 for my own garage and I'm reading reviews that aren't very good....from not lifting evenly (like 5" difference between sides) to it not lifting higher than 5.5'....not the full 72" advertised. What's your experience Jack...now that you've had it for ~7 years? Will it lift to 72"? Is it still working as well as it did in this video?

cant tell you how great it was to watch this video, i worked at an autoshop for over 7 years, im now in a new field and let me tell you life without a lift sucks. ive been doing months and months of research with different portable lifts and this by far has the best information available. great video, thank, to anyone reading all your answers are in the comments.

Hey pretty close to ordering the UNIVERSALIFT 2 which appears to be the same as this lift. Just curious how it is holding up? Still going strong? Any issues at all? Thanks man!

Wish there was a tear down of the system to show us how it stows away!
I have only taken down 1 time since buying it. Really easy, disconnect the quick connections on the hydraulic lines, remove the arms buy pulling the pin, loosen a d remove the bolts with a breaker bar and ratchet, slide a dolly under the tower and move it. Or just waddle it over to where you want it.
Not hard at all.

Hey Jack! A few questions: 1) Do you know if other companies sell a similar lift- That's designed to fit in a normal garage (excluding the MaxJack, which according to many customer reviews is a sub-par product). 2) Can you make a video of removing one of the posts for "storage?" I'm curious how difficult of a process removing and installing a post is.
This is the only one out there that is like this. The C7000 also goes by the name universallift. They have a video on how to move it..
You unplige the hydraulic line with your hands.
Remove the arms. No tools required.
Undo the 6 bolts holding it down.
Move it with a dolly or walk I t across the floor.
I've had it for years and kmky moved it 3 times. Just don't need to.

At max height how high is it to the undercarriage? I know everything says 72" but i am curious on exact height at max with or without locks.

Nice demonstration. I have the Maxjax and it does the job with my nine foot ceiling, but if this would have been available at the time , I would have gotten this one. The ladder locks and arms are much safer and versatile. Space under the car is tight and it's hard to find jack stands and tools that work with the Maxjax. How high is your ceiling?
my ceiling is 9'9" so the VW goes up almost the full 6 feet. my fullsizebronco frame rails are 58" off the ground at maximum.
I really like this lift and redoing the floor was well worth the work just for the piece of mind and learning.
I looked at the maxjax but it had some limitations I was not able to accommodate.

Yeah, ..I hear that on the garage floor spec. ..After-all, hindsight is 20/20. ..Lift prep has started with a couple of 4x4 pads in the works. ..Hired a couple of community H.S. boys to assist,, making fast work of the garage/exterior pad creation. ..(H.S. senior's gas money exchanged for floor pads.... sign me up.) ..Critical Path Method.. 1,2,3.. etc. ..Can you imagine just winging it in terms of the existing concrete floor spec., and there's trouble down the line? .. No way.

Just bought mine. How far apart did you locate each post? Im building my garage and want to know wherw to fill with good concrete

Any reason why you used 5/8" wej-it anchor bolts instead of 3/4"?
The specifications called for 5/8" and I wanted to be sure the bolt fit through the hole on the base plate.

nice video. Could you measure the length of one of the arms from the silver pivot to the center of the lift pad? I have the same lift and can't lift a car the way you did because my arms are longer, very strange... thank you!
I can do that. My arms are 3 pieces. I'll do it in the morning.
Sorry my lifts arms are totally different than yours. Probably won't matter. If I measure.

looks like it fits perfectly in asingle car garage spot. What distance between posts did you use?
the post plates are 127" apart (outside of plate). It works great for various cars. I is adjustable for installation from 75" (lawnmower or something I guess) to about 135". Some guys have multiple sets of anchors in the floor so they can more one of the posts.
I highly recommend this lift.

Jack Kaufmann Ah, thanks for the measurement info. My biggest car is the same width as the Passat, so It's a good point of reference. I'm going to rearrange my garage and see if I can make this work. Just about everything, except for one heavy duty storage rack, is on wheels, too. Also, I just scored a used Liftmaster 3800 full setup for $65 so I can gain about 13" in ceiling height then I'll do the major garage mods later.😀

Trying to get placement and measurement before I pull the trigger to see if the garage door opener has to be removed and replaced with a wall mount.

That was a three car garage with 9.5 foot ceilings. We now have this lift in a 40x60 shop. With 12 foot ceiling. Thx for watching
Awesome lift. I have an 8' ceiling with a MaxJax but I really want to pick up one of these bad boys. Seems like a much better machine.

On your lift did you have issues with the base plates being warped?
Nope the plates are flat. Can’t imagine the hardware we not bring it true when torqued down

hi did you buy bags of concrete or have a truck come out? I'm looking to do the same thing
We used bags of 4000 psi quikrete for 2 4x4x11” deep holes but we also keyed under the slab about 6" so the footing is actually bigger than 4x4. We poured the slabs with a rented mixer from the hardware store. Make sure you use seal and cure on the new pours so it cures right and is easier.
We followed Mohawks instructions on how to do a slab for a hoist. That requires rebar and keying under. It's not hard. Just getting rid of all the old concrete is a pain.

how big is your garage leagth and width
Pretty standard size 3 car garage. About 25 ft deep on the side with the hoist. 35 feet wide
How high is the ceiling and how high will the lift go and who makes the lift?

Hey man, followed alot of your demonstrations. Does the bracket holding the top of your hydraulic cylinder seem loose or flimsy? I purchased the same lift? Mine only has screws on it? Did yours recommend using bolts and replacing the screws?
N. Chappy mine has a little strap held in with two machine bolts. Seems pretty solid
