    UPDATE: I tried this palette again with a set base. I had the same problems. I used fix plus on one eye and my finger on the other with the sequin formula on the lid. On the side with the finger, the glitter was gone within 5 min. The side with the fix plus did apply a lot nicer, however....after that dried down, it only lasted on the lid a little over an hour. I still like the metallics and the glitters but I am giving this palette to a subscriber who missed out on it and really wants it. I want to mention again that this was a review about a palette, not a person.

      Mel Thompson If the palette doesn’t work for you then I would get rid of it, too. You love the ND Lila palette and I hate that darn thing. It cost me over $100. Everybody has different eyelids and faces. One palette may work on one person and not the other. Thanks for giving it the old college try. I’m still trying to get my Lila palette to work, ugh. 😐

    • @Elaine_S
      @Elaine_S 5 років тому +29

      @Jacy Miller I could not agree more! Tati could have gone about it in a totally different way and still been respectful about it. She was over dramatic and her techniques when she applied it all was a joke. She acted like someone who had never applied makeup before and the colors she chose (out of all the ones to chose from) were a poor choice imo. She acted like a total bratty victim when called out on how she acted and reviewed that palette. Then she got nasty towards Kiki and Emily herself.. I lost every bit of respect for Tati after that. Now I see her and just gag over how self absorbed and overly dramatic she is. That girl has no clue about the real world. Sorry for the rant. But I've remained pissed about all of that ever since it happened.

    • @SprucedandGussied
      @SprucedandGussied 5 років тому +12

      Tati handled that whole situation like a petulant child. Emily Noel and Kiki Chanel got caught in the crossfires because Tati didn't like that people thought her review was total BS. She should keep away from reviewing other youtuber's products. She loved James Charles palette and look how that all turned out.

    • @EgoBrain1
      @EgoBrain1 5 років тому +4

      @@Elaine_S self absorbed is the perfect way to explain Tati. I used to be a fan but lost my taste for her over time, as she got bigger and bigger. Watched her be a cool, fun person to a stuck up drama queen. I haven't watched her in a long time.

    • @jennifernessling9732
      @jennifernessling9732 4 роки тому +1

      @spooky katt totally agree! I see those palettes in every TJ Maxx/Marshalls now! Why? Because word of mouth gets around that they are just meh colors and so so quality. They did not sell and/or they were the palettes that had formula issues and had to be pulled which Tati mentioned in her follow up video saying perhaps she got one if the defective palettes.

    • @ALT-vz3jn
      @ALT-vz3jn 3 роки тому +1

      @@Elaine_S I have to disagree that Tati purposely used bad techniques to apply the eyeshadow. She used the exact same techniques as for her other videos, that’s pretty obvious. I didn’t hear any ‘jokes’ either. The palette was terrible, that’s not Emily’s fault it’s Makeup Revolution’s formulas that are very much hit and miss. However, Kiki Chanel’s video about Tati was horrendous and make Kiki look idiotic for fabricating drama. I’m suspecting that you heard about Tati’s video from someone and didn’t watch the video yourself. But then again you’ll probably double down on having ‘watched’ it just because I called you out on it. Have a nice day.

      Megan Sarah Idk. I’ve seen a lot of influencer reviews from people who didn’t receive the palette in PR and didn’t have the same issues with blending and such. It might be that Mel used a base that was far too emollient for these shadows. People describe most of the shadows as “creamy” and the glitters as a tad dry. Check out Taylor Wynn’s review and What Would Lizzy Do. They bought the palette. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    This is honestly, one of the best, more complete reviews I’ve seen of this palette. I appreciate the sincerity. Nothing against Tati, I used to watch her, not as much now because tastes change but I felt from the beginning, her popularity will colour most reviews. If Too Faced released this, it would have been dragged as boring, repetitive and unnecessary. It’s incredibly unlikely for people’s affection for her and to be honest, fear of backlash not to bias the situation somewhat.
    She’s a smart business woman and her idea of having pre orders (before any truly legitimate reviews from people who weren’t sent the palette come out) is brilliant. As far as I know, she doesn’t accept returns. And having seen a million “I’m so broke but I have buy this to support Tati” or “I have these colours but I love her sooo much I have to buy this” comments, I will say this: You can support your favourites by watching their videos. Your money and financial health are more important than spending what you don’t have on something you don’t want or need. Tati isn’t supporting you by paying your credit card bills. She’ll be juuuuuust fine.

      I 2000 I agree, I’m mostly a neutrals girl with an occasional pop of colour type makeup junkie (though for me personally, this leans too orange which doesn’t look good on me). I’m not actually dragging the palette, I’m just saying in the YT landscape when critiques come in, it usually seems all neutral palettes get dragged as boring but Tati’s didn’t. Outside of YT, they’re certainly the ones that sell. I find the two different worlds fascinating actually. Rainbow palettes have been a huge trend all year and yet I’ve never seen one person (friend, family, teenager, stranger on the street) in real life wearing anything close to bright primary colours on their eyes.

    Just like Tati didn't deserve the nasty responses she received when she didn't like EmilyNoel's Makeup Revolution collab, you certainly didn't deserve it for this review. Makeup is so subjective and used to be about expressing individuality but now, abuse is heaped upon anyone with a differing opinion. I'll just never understand why people get so angry at strangers on the internet that don't like something they do!

    • @ALT-vz3jn

      Exactly. That Kiki Chanel video was beyond idiotic. She was just trying to increase her viewership by inserting herself and fabricating ‘drama’ just because Tati didn’t like another UA-camr’s palette. People are allowed to have an opinion without others piling on them.

      I’ve been using it everyday and it’s been amazing. Mattes are easy to blend with great pigment. I’ve been using the sequin formula with the iconic London shimmer spray that came in last months boxycharm. I’ve done all over the lid, but my fave way to use them is as liner. Poet sequin liner is gorgeous. That spray is like magic for this formula. Try it out if you get Boxycharm.

    Bummed that this one didn’t work out for you Mel, the looks you created are beautiful though. I have had a great experience with this palette. I do prime and set my eyes though (I’m 50, and starting to see the ‘maturing’ on my lids 😂 so I need to set for the smoothest application) the sequin row is actually my favorite, the tiniest glitter but gives my eyes an extra spark of glimmer ☺️ and my husband even noticed ❤️ he said my eyes looked extra beautiful, he very rarely comments on my eye makeup (what man does though 😂) I can’t wait for our next ‘date night’ so I can use the ‘grownup’ glitters 💜

    You're definitely not the only one who has had problems with this palette. Specifically, the blending. I can't get it to blend to save my life! Not that I'm an expert or anything... but at the end of the day it has to work for ME. Me with my skillset and my tools. Everyone's skin on their eyes is different so you can't expect one eyeshadow to work for EVERYONE. Jacy Miller for sure. Makes me so mad because the same youtubers were bashing Anastasia Beverly Hills subculture palette and prism because it’s too pigmented and you need the very light hand with it. I’ve got the prism palette and it’s fine for me. And then everyone were bashing colourpop glitters but Tati’s are totally the same issues as the glitters and matts...but everyone saying just use the light hand and fall out is not bad and get over it. It’s like what? I understand people want to support their favorite youtubers...but don’t be all lying and promoting something that ain’t that good. I believe Jackson hill got the same backlash from her vault collection as Anastasia Beverly Hills. But Tati’s palette is like a gold and if you mention something to Tati she’d block you and then make a video about how people are mean to her lol too funny to me. Stacey7742 I believe customers should be able to return a product if they don’t like it. No return policy to me is just companies being greedy and don’t care about customer satisfaction. It’s a huge hassle to return items and means loosing a lot of money.

    Thank you Mel for a great review. You are certainly one that has such a unique way in applying eyeshadows and the way you blend them effortlessly. I was curious about the palette and your review confirmed this might not be the right palette when I look for easily blendable formulas.

    Thanks for doing not one but two looks, it's appreciated. I watched another channel that had slight patchiness with the matte burgundy shade as well. This was a great review!!

    OMG Mell this is a great review of the pallet I haven’t heard anybody talk about how those two rows are exactly the same, and yes all sequin shades are annoying the glitter never stays on them no matter what you do you might get one or two Little specs that states but that’s it. Thank you for such a good review Mell really🥰

    I trust your reviews so much you are so thorough. People shouldn’t be mad this is your opinion and experience with the product. Your so right about the two bottom rows didn’t notice that in any other review. Besides the black their essentially the same colors. I was undecided about getting it but you definitely made up my mind. Nothing against Tati I absolutely love her thanks so much for your input ♥️♥️♥️♥️

      dobcsek I have ABH, Tilbury, Too Faced, Color Pop, Lancôme, for palette collections. So far Tilbury’s velvet formula is my fav, so I’m anxious to try Huda’s formula.

    I'm in my 50s so the sequin row gave just enough shimmer to enhance my eyes and not have me trying to look like a teenager. I love the palette and found that it blends out better when you start out with very little on your brush and build up from there. Also, FWIW, Allie Glines did a review and said that the sequin shades work well with a small, dampened fluffy brush laid down gently onto the eye. All in all, though, I really appreciate this truly unbiased review from a legit artist of makeup. Love you, Mel!

      That's what I was hoping for. I'm in my 60's and I currently do apply a pop of shimmer in the center of my lid so I was thinking the sequin row would be up my alley. I probably won't get a lot of use out of the actual glitters but the neutrals are what I love. My palette should be here next week....can't wait!

      I never order anything until I’ve seen every review possible. . . except this time.😔 I was so excited about this pallet and dazzled by how gorgeous it is visually. It’s so well thought out and I LOVE the color story. Plus, I expect Tati’s products to be perfection so I ordered at launch. Received it today, got on you tube and am now seeing the challenges with blending that weren’t there previously. Very bummed and wish I would not have spent $58.😢 I am 55 and don’t wear glitter soooo am hoping I can make this pallet work. I am encouraged by @kim’s experience and would like to hear about yours too @cherbear. I keep thinking Tati is going to release some looks with the pallet and wonder why she has not. I think that is strange. Hoping she teaches all exactly how to use the pallet for success.

    I swear you can make anything look amazing! You’re truly skilled in the art of applying makeup. Since you’re an OG MAC girl, I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you review some of their pigments &/or loose glitters. I will always be a die hard fan of their pigments, even when I’m
    Old and gray. They’re such a hidden gem most people don’t use because they either don’t know about them, or their intimidated by the loose formula. Either way, I’d REALLLLLLYYY enjoy seeing you do a look with some. Thanks chicky!! 💜🤩✊🤩💜

      skincareaddicted maybe but keep in mind that makeup is different for everybody because everybody is different. There are makeup items that the masses rave about that I’ve tried to love but they just doesn’t work for me. So even though a lot of people might like those products, I don’t care for them. Regardless, I think we all appreciate honest reviews either way

      Actually after her "bye sister" drama, she came out looking really bad cuz basically most of her allegations were debunked with proof. So not everyone is that eager to kiss her ass.

    I struggle with coconut on my face, too, so it's good to know that you didn't have a problem on the eyes! And thank you for the honesty about the mattes. Good tip to try to set it. Mine is coming soon, so it helps to know what to expect! And oh my gosh, I saw a sweet puppy! Oh my goodness!

    I like your honesty. You're considerate with the explanation of the lack of glitter in the second row which in all honesty, I expected it to disappear, so I'm not upset. I bought this pallet and am still happy with my purchase. I now know I have to be a little careful in the application, so thank you for mentioning that.

    Mary (Glitzy Fritzy) always talks about you. I’ve watched your videos but never subscribed. I am now subscribing. I have watched several review videos on this palette, and you are the first person who has not ‘oohed’, ‘ahed’, and drooled over it. Wish I would’ve been able to see this before ordering. Great info! At least, now I know what to expect when mine finally arrives xoxo, Swoozie

    I’m actually excited for the sequins row for more daily use-just a little sparkle vs a BAM of glitter. Love the glitters but I wouldn’t wear that every day and the in other reviews I have seen them wet their brush and the sequins sparkle stays perfectly. I see most BGs use wetting the brush on most palettes so it isn’t just this one. I can’t afford PM or TF or even ND so I like that this gets me close without a huge price tag...even though it is more expensive than my normal CP or drugstore stuff.
    Are you going to review JS and SD?

    With a palette this big, I wpuld expect about 3 matte transition colors. Thanks for the review. I am passing on this one and getting the Natasha Denona gold pallette for the Rouge sale.
