A very informative and thorough review! I think that she will put up a fight if someone's going to back-date her to 1941. Looking forward to Part 2!

Great video, I've built two of this class, the p.o.w in the early 90s,and I've not long finished the kg5 with all the accessories, they still make an impressive model.

thats really intresting, I know my grandfather and great uncle both did Murmansk and Rchanger, My great uncle went from KGv to Penelope. my grandfather stayed with Anthony from just before the war to late 42 then moved onto a US lend lease destroy. thier younger brother unfortunately drowned on Dutches where the Barham armed her in fog.

@@ModelkitStuff small world fascinating history that's need to be kept alive. I remember him saying Penelope and in you're video about shooting down a plane but unfortunately I remember him saying it was a allied plane he should not have been flying in that area but I cannot remember when it was or where. I also also remember him saying that someone flew into the rock of Gibraltar but it was kept hush Im still not sure about this though as I cannot find any info on it. Recently I went to a private tour of the reserve gun barrel used for coastal defence from the KGV. WINNIE and Clem an actually stood where Churchill stood when they were commissioned. Wow feeling history gives you.

Hi Jason, yes, for its age, its still a decent kit. I built Tamiya's HMS Prince of Wales in 2021. Added Eduards Cranes & Railings PE set, Royal Navy Crew set, some metal main gun barrels and a wood deck set. It was my first go at doing lots of PE. Oh boy, did I find it fiddly lol. But adding PE railings and crane parts, really makes a difference. I just have one point to question, which you haven't mentioned. I believe that originally she had all her ships boats on the top of the rear deck, in the same location as Prince of Wales. With aircraft catapults in the centre where the cranes are. But after the refit of July 44, her aircraft were removed , and the ships boats were moved to the centre. At least that's what the Wiki entry states. If that is the case, then quite a lot of work would need to be done to do her in the Bismarck hunt configuration.

Yes, you would have to check references but the Pontos set covers the boat deck changes basically taking KGV back to the same configuration as the Juke of York.
