Centurion D5 Smart sliding gate motors are well known sliding gate motors which are used to automate steel sliding gates up to 500kg.
Centurion D5 Smart gate motors are a new version, upgraded from the well known and trusted Centurion D5 Evo sliding gate motor system.
We recently re installed and repaired this Centurion D5 Smart gate motor after it was struck by lightning.
The initial installation was poorly done.
the Centurion D5 Smart gate motor was leaning over towards the steel sliding gate.
The Centurion D5 Smart gate motor steel base plate was also poorly secured into the ground.
In essence, to make sure that your Centurion D5 Smart gate motor lives long, one needs to make sure that the installation is correct as per factory specifications.
a Platform was created by using a steel base plate also known as a Hansa Base plate.
it is a steel plate which is at least 3mm thick and measures 400mx350mm.
The steel base plate was placed level on the ground and then welded properly to the steel gate track.
The steel base plate is then welded to the steel post on the side.
Steel rods are then placed into the ground to support the last section of the steel base plate.
A hole is cut into the steel base plate, which allows for the placement of the electrical supply cable from underneath the Centurion D5 Smart sliding gate motor.
While doing all the prep work, it was found that the electrical supply cable was never placed in a conduit pipe and the concrete paving bricks also started pinching the electrical supply cable.
A new electrical supply cable was fitted into 20mm sabs conduit pipe after the concrete paving was lifted.
The Centurion D5 Smart gate motor was assembled onto its steel base plate and all steel nuts were properly tightened.
the Centurion D5 Smart gate motor was then placed onto the Hansa steel base plate. the gate motor was aligned parallel with the steel sliding gate with the gate motor in a upright position "no leaning over to the steel gate is allowed".
The Centurion D5 Smart sliding gate motor is then welded down onto the steel Hansa base plate.
The steel gate rail is then welded onto the steel sliding gate by using steel connecting brackets. These brackets could be anything from steel flat bar 25x5mm, 30x30x3mm or 40x40x3mm angle iron brackets which should not be more then 600mm apart "all depending on steel sliding gate weight and build type" The steel gate rail should be supported on the start up areas "fully closed and fully open position"
When all welding is done, one needs to paint all welded areas with a primer paint to prevent rust from forming.
Programming of the gate motor limits is via the MyCentsys app.
One need to monitor the programming cycle as it can show problems in the installation.
All remote transmitters and gate settings are also programmed through the MyCentsys application.
