I love how they did this scene. Jiang Cheng was finally able to let out his frustrations, all the insecurities he held against Wei Ying. All the things he wanted to say years ago. The cause of him being emotionally constipated all the dang time, and he can finally let it all out!
The way Wei Ying wipes the tear from Jiang Cheng’s eyes is so painfully satisfying because FINALLY! Finally, there is a glimmer of hope for reconciliation.
Wang Zhoucheng acted this scene out so well, kudos to him for making this one of my favorite moments of the show! It’s hard to believe that this is one of his first acting gigs! And he performed so well, you could never tell🥺

JC was devasted when Wei Ying chose to leave Jiang sect and protect the wen clan. Him going on repeating that 'you promised' shows that all he wanted was Wei to be by his side but yes he did let his jealousy, inferiority complex and pride get the better of him but he is one person I think who had redeeming qualities because afterall, he really did lost everything!!

I like how in this scene the supposedly "childish" Wei Ying is clearly the adult and the older brother in a way, while Jian Cheng is the child.
One of the things I loved about the show was how they portrayed Jiang Cheng! Did not like him in the novel, but he’s a character that I always wanted to see redeemed because he’s so interesting.

Lan Zhan and Wei Ying fell for each other at first sight. Lan Zhan's love is unconditional, he loved, cared, protected and believed in him for whoever he was whether right or wrong, sane or insane, good or bad and was ready to heal, and mend for him for whoever he might become.
Lan Zhan wanted and took him to Gusu to live together safely. Wei Ying loved, cared and protected Lan Zhan too, at last Wei Ying knew Lan Zhan's love and sacrifice for him too and that Lan Zhan loves him, have feelings for him but he is and was and will always be by his side and that Lan Zhan's love for him unconditional, reciprocated as well as without attachment. In the end, they are together ❤️

I just realized this just now but I think Jiang Cheng was more hurt when Wei Wuxian wasn't with him when he became the clan leader. It was probably his dream to have him by his side.

No matter how many times I watch this seen it always break my heart 💔💔💔 And as far as I believe that Jiang Cheng don't hate Wei Ying for the reason of his family's death but he was disappointed that he didn't keep his promise and let him all alone all by himself 😔😔😔

Jiang Cheng really loved Wei Wuxian. Of course, there is the anger of losing his family, and then jealousy of not being acknowledged by his father, but at the very end, after he gets the rage, and the inferiority out, underneath everything, at the root is a scared boy, who, when he suddenly had the world thrust on his shoulders during a war he was too young to fight in, lost his big brother, because his big brother never learned how to show love in a way that didn’t give up chunks of himself.

All he wanted was his older brother by his side! Cheng felt he was at first traded for Lan Zhan, just like a little brother being jealous of their older brother’s spouse. And then, his shije saving Wei Ying, and he was left all alone. He broke! He’s too much like his mom making sure everyone else feels his pain and insecurities. If he had been more like his dad, then no matter what they said about him or Wei Ying it wouldn’t have mattered. No one would have dared to harm them if they had stayed united so much of this is his projection for his own guilt. At least, we find out later that he visits him often in the Cloud Recesses
This scene is so wholesome and one of my favorites .
Jiang Cheng was always jealous of Wei Ying because he always knew Wei Ying was better. He resented him for it. And Wei Ying giving up his core for Jiang Cheng proved it. That's why he was so pissed when Ning told the truth of what happened and did it in front of Lan Zhan,. A witness to how much better Wei Ying was than Jiang Cheng. I don't feel the least bit sorry for him. He's a disgrace.
I think that rather than disgust, I feel more pity for him. He has a rather awful inferiority complex concerning Wei Ying, compounded by the fact that he was emotional abused (yes he was) by the parents and has never felt that he's had the opportunity to prove any form of superiority otherwise. Every form of triumph that he's earned could be argued to have been given to him, whether it be his inheritance or his cultivation. He might know that Wei Wuxian is not at fault for the majority of his trauma, but he's been conditioned to instinctly blame it on him. It is right? No. The ability to suffer never grants everyone the right to inflict it. But understanding someone's suffering puts us closer to healing it. I do hope in the future, Jiang Cheng will find someone who judged JC for himself and can guide him out to the self-hatred and anger he allows himself to wallow in.

Wow I like the actor who plays Jiang Cheng acting. The way he said his lines and combined his expression created very nice, awesome performance. He did excellent job.

Wei Ying reminds me of me, and Jiang Cheng reminds me of my siblings. I always wanted to help other people and I was a gifted child and musically gifted -- my abusive parents took advantage of this, put me in piano lessons for 9 years, and often compared my siblings to me.
I constantly strived to be a better person, and my siblings could never measure up (in my parents' eyes). I never wanted to be my parents' favourite, I knew it was unfair.
I was their favourite because I genuinely desired and tried to be a good person, and because my musical abilities made the family look good.
Ironically, it's BECAUSE I constantly strived to be a better person that I left my family and the cult that my parents raised us in. All my beliefs changed because I began to understand what it means to be a good person.
Because of all this, I am now outcast and looked down on by my family. I'm no longer seen as a good person to them because my belief of what that means is different than theirs.
The thing they loved most about me is the very thing that led me to have to leave them.

readers who cant forgive and give room for certain character flaws, indicate that they themselves are unforgiving. JC haters makes me realize, there are still some hateful people in the world. they hate JC being hateful to WY but not realizing they themselves have hate in their hearts too...pitiful

@@allenrjking JC's sacrifice is more impulsive action and he was not fully ready for the consequences. He had been trying to go back earlier, still sad from loss of his home and parent's death etc. However Wei's decision was taken with more self awareness and stronger resolve and clarity of thought. He fully understood the consequences, still bared with it and battled through the loss later.
Wei has a strong sense of justice that JC lacks. He sacrifices righteousness frequently enough for his own family, sect or self.
he did apologized in the novel. he said IM SORRY while crying. he even mock himself for being sensitive.
@@svetlanalvova1128 No one denied that but the point remains the same. I don't even blame him for his anger towards Wei. However he quickly backed down the Wen Qing and remnants issue, because someone said Wei had been bad mouthing him left a bad taste in my mouth.
He should have trusted Wei better than that and not let such people affect his stand.
Lan Zhan instantly intervened and pointed that Wei never said it still JC let himself be influenced by others. It was his own deep seated complex towards Wei where he loved him and still couldn't get over his inferiority complex.
JC had contributed enough in fighting back in the campaign and so had Wei. If he ignored those people and stood his ground he could get Gusu support because Lan Zhan and Lan Xichen were not unwilling. And Nie leader could be won over if he mentioned Wen Ning and Wen Qing helping him survive and reasoned with him. He might have been unconscious for most of the time but he must have had known how he escaped. Nie leader was the type with strong opinions but he appreciated when others were able to stand their ground. He appreciated MIan Mian.
Funny part was that JC backed down and yet later on he complains to Wen Qing that she didn't ask for his help.

I just believe that JC is socially, emotionally far more stunned, fragile, far less capable of trust of any kind than WWX, thanks to his parents, especially his mommy dearest and her social conditioning of him. The way I see it, he desperately wants walls around him. Social, emotional, political, financial, the routine of life, in short, any and every kind. Walls are his security blankets that prevent anyone and anything from getting close enough to hurt him, like his mother, his father, WWX, his peers, his acquaintances. Something of a hermit crab that can't allow himself to rely on anyone except himself. He was about 18-19 when WWX stormed out of Jinlintai for Qiongqi Pass? I do no see how teenager with such a background could have stood his ground and opened his mouth at a conference. Two scenes in episode 45 of the drama I find tell the most about JC. One is after the second siege of the Burial Mounds with Sect Leader Yao, when Jin Ling and Sizhui are more assertive than JC, the second is how JC acts at Lotus Pier when SiSi and Bicao are introduced. Basically, he either retreats at the first sign of opposition, or doesn't do anything at all, leaving decisions to the popular opinion. I see him as much weaker than what I assume you think of him.

Practically yeah Jiang cheng should get on his knees and thank Wei Ying because he was the only one who was willing to give away his golden core. What a great sacrifice so Jiang Cheng could be the Leader of the Jiang clan. And instead of doing the bare minimum to thank Wei Ying he shows his hatred towards a person who allowed him to reach the leadership

However, for WY to stay in lotus pier is not an option. JC cannot stand together with LZ. JC saw LZ as rival in getting WY to stay by his side

Actually it's also the other way around. Wei Ying was about to get caught when he went to buy medicine and food but Jiang cheng used himself as bait and got caught tortured then golden core destroyed to cover for wei Ying to escape with medicine for their sister. It shows the scene later but wei Ying never learned of this either.

I guess I get why some find JC unsalvagable. But I just see him as human. It was wrong in a way for Wei Ying to keep something of this magnitude a secret from him, and he's right in a sense to be angry that such a monumental event in their life was kept secret from him. And now that he does know, he has to live with every past moment seen in a new and more painful light. How would things have changed if they had all know about Wei Ying's sacrifice from the beginning? We shall never know. But at the same time, as an older sister myself, I understand the willingness to sacrifice yourself for your little sibling. You want them to be safe and happy.

No reconciliation both in drama and novel. In drama, only to be on neutral ground (JC no longer hated and hunted WWX).
In novel, no reconciliation as well, worse than in drama though.
