What an amazing movie! The suspense builds with every new situation, the ending is the most creative and surprising. Moira Lister played a dramatic role that keeps you spell-bound throughout the movie. Definitely worth telling your friends to watch, they won’t be disappointed!
What a *_Gooood_* suspense thriller.... THX PizzaFlix = I don't know how I've missed this film for the past 3 years in your frequently used / much appreciated film catalogue. 👌 Definitely a well-developed plot with unpredicted twists-n-turns!!! Lloyd Bridges was never one of my favorite actors, but he was well cast here, and delivered a very "focused" and believable performance!!! 😮 *OH.....* And definitely a somewhat bizarre ending, however anti-climatic.... 🤐
Excellent - thanks for posting. Like Ralph D. below, I remember Lloyd Bridges from SEA HUNT as a boy in London - it used to be on Sunday evening at 7PM, as I recall, either before or after WILLIAM TELL with Conrad Phillips. But back to SEA HUNT, Beau and Jeff have good genes indeed. And I remember Alan Wheatley as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham starring Richard Greene ( and my first crush Driscoll as Maid Marion ). Ah, innocent days.
No way!! You really pulled that one over on me! I had absolutely no idea. Awesome and truly surprising ending to a wonderful movie. Great acting also, I've always admired Lloyd Bridges. Thanks for another winning oldie but goodie! 🌈🌈🌈
I don't know much about Lloyd Bridges personal life but as an actor he certainly had a great screen presence - captivating. He had a distinctive and unmistakable voice and to my mind played no fuss characters as is exemplified in this film. On the funny side maybe this would be a great film to view on inflight entertainment if someone nicks your magazine.
Another intriguing movie with a surprise ending. Leslie Philips, one of England's character actors is still living at age 96. Not many of these fine actors left now.
Nice surprise to see Rachel Roberts and Jean Marsh in early roles as well as Moira Lister and Lloyd Bridges. Enjoyed the old scenes of the river Thames. Thanks for upload.
Wow, I totally missed Jean Marsh as the landlady's daughter. I know her first from Upstairs Downstairs reruns and later (for me) a Twilight Zone episode rerun. I did not recognize her on the stoop or following her mother around. What a strange part. She looked a little too old and sophisticated, imo, to be such a tag-along who didn't say anything. But, still, what an actress to play the part!
Oh yes!!! The wonderful British tv shows that we were able to get in Australia!!! Handsome, charming Richard Greene!! I used to have the most incredible rush on him...Sir Lancelot...William Tell...what a time it was!! Magic...
another great over looked gem of film noir. Bridges is great in the lead role. great story. so many of these movies are so much better than new Hollyweird crap.
The ending is pretty funny. I like old movies in part because the endings are usually happy or bittersweet, not depressing like most movies/T.V. show finales today.
This is very good movie! And the small part played by Jean Marsh -- fantastic. Also to see Lloyd Bridges was great. As a child I used to watch him on TV in Sea Hunt. And Moira Lister, whose name I didn't know, did a wonderful job, fine acting. Thanks very much to PizzaFlix.
Yes, Yvonne, so am I. But I was always taught that the it-was-all-a-dream plot was a cheap and gimmicky way to write. (But I have to admit I smiled at the ending because I was happy for Frank.)
Trivia: That pub on the banks of the river Thames, was called the Spread Eagle and Crown. Built in 1780, as a rebuild of the original building, it was the very site from which the Mayflower set sail in 1620, whose passengers went on to build the USA. In 1957, just four years after this film, it was renamed The Mayflower and still stands today. All americans should make a pilgrimage there, and contemplate the fear and excitement of taking a journey to a new and terrifying world, in order to build a nation. Signed Melbourne, Australia
Thought movie was ok, with a plot that was weak to begin with & poor ending. Seeing Lloyd Bridges again was the best part. What a classy man, husband, and dad he was off screen. Have read both sons are fine family men as well. Saw Jeff & Dad in a film together, told all three stars might have made one together. Should this be true PLEASE run it ! All you do show are very appreciated. Thanks
those were the good old days , the Queens coronation , the picket laws , television , the jet passenger plane , the Comet , frosted cornflakes and cocoa , what a time to be alive .
Just watched this movie and recognized the actor who played a dancer it was Lionel Blair. I am English and I remember Lionel well as a TV PERSONALITY AND ACTOR. I looked him up on Wikipedia to find out that he had died ONLY A FEW HOURS BEFORE I WATCHED THE MOVIE. That is a very strange coincidence.
Love to watch such movies as this, especially all the old automobiles , price signs, like gasoline, $.16 cents per, ham and eggs 35 cents, fryers 29 cents per pound, soft drinks 5 cents, gold, $15.00 ounce, new Fords, Chevies, Studebakers, Nash and Packards for 6 to 9 hundred brand new. Of course, 50 t0 seventy-five cents per hour for a work day those things were not such bargains. Oh well, yesterdays are gone for good, believe me there were NO good old days. It' good to think that they were. . . .
It's instructive that so many who "hated" the ending have no knowledge of literary and cinematic precedents for this type of (trick) ending. Short story writer O. Henry wrote 100s of such stories; Newhart had TWO separate TV shows that ended with them waking up, making the entire series a dream; then Dallas tv soap with "Who shot JR?"--another dream. Such complaints belie an amazing lack of knowledge of not only these but an entire genre of fictional technique.
What an amazing movie! The suspense builds with every new situation, the ending is the most creative and surprising. Moira Lister played a dramatic role that keeps you spell-bound throughout the movie. Definitely worth telling your friends to watch, they won’t be disappointed!
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.
May the pepperoni be with you, too. 🍕
Great film. Lloyd Bridges up to the mark, as usual. Love the end!!!
Great movie, good plot & acting. Hollywood could never make a decent & entertaining movie like this, no CGI, the horror, the horror!
Classic film noir. Thank you for the upload pizza flix!!!
They don't make them like this anymore !!! Great cast, directing and awesome screenplay !!! You will LOVE this movie. Bridges is just awesome !
Creamstp hi
Exactly just what I think love the old films cast and storylines and yes they don't make them like this anymore.

this movie was great! LLoyd Bridges at his best. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
No way!! You really pulled that one over on me! I had absolutely no idea. Awesome and truly surprising ending to a wonderful movie. Great acting also, I've always admired Lloyd Bridges. Thanks for another winning oldie but goodie! 🌈🌈🌈
That was totally unexpected!!!!!
Bravo
I really like these classic dramas and mysteries they are great and fun to watch.
Great suspenseful movie. I first watched Loyd Bridges in "Sea Hunt" as a kid in the 60s. "Mike Nelson" was kinda like an underwater P.I.
Loved the unique twist at the end. Great movie.
Wow, what a surprise ending, did not expect that. Great movie!

This movie is first rate. Wonderful story, plot direction & acting. . .
"His room is on the first floor". Proceeds to climb up three flights of stairs.
Another intriguing movie with a surprise ending. Leslie Philips, one of England's character actors is still living at age 96. Not many of these fine actors left now.
Great movie! Loved the ending. Big fan of Lloyd Bridges.
This was one of the best movies I've ever seen. Totally unexpected ending. ☺️🙏
Good film. Well worth a watch. Lloyd does a great job acting out his part.
Blokes are the greates actors in the world. I say that as an American.
That was well worth watching this is just one of many reason i keep coming back thanks for sharing PF

After seeing him in comic roles, it's really hard not to start giggling at a movie like this.
I recognize Alan Wheatley, (Inspector Braddock), as the Sheriff of Nottingham from the old Richard Greene Robin Hood series that I loved as a kid.
Oh yes!!! The wonderful British tv shows that we were able to get in Australia!!! Handsome, charming Richard Greene!! I used to have the most incredible rush on him...Sir Lancelot...William Tell...what a time it was!! Magic...
Oh, I forgot about the TV show Robin Hood.
Thank you for the great movie.
❤
Good movie! Incredible ending! Thanks, Pizza!
Leslie Phillips already well into character as the young rake about town. He just got funnier as he got older. Brilliant.
Ding dong.
Many thanks for uploading. God bless you my friend.
The Young Leslie Philips playing a straight roll !
DING DONG!
Wasn't he cute, even back then
Even though it was a straight role Leslie Phillips still portrayed a comic lasciviousness.
Leslie Phillips a most underrated actor.
Great ending in my view, even if.. well, no spoiling ! Thank you Pizzaflix
deguilhem corinne Thanks
Very clever ending! Enjoyed it.
Excellent movie; including great shots of the venerable Lockheed Constellation.
Hypoxia at a all time high
Good movie, thanks for sharing it with us here on UA-cam. 👍
How odd! I just had a wild dream about watching an old movie w/Lloyd Bridges and when I awoke,well...
another great over looked gem of film noir. Bridges is great in the lead role. great story. so many of these movies are so much better than new Hollyweird crap.
ok boomer
Great movie a lot of twists and turns good for a movie made in1953 thank you 👍🇺🇸
A real gem with Leslie Phillips, Rachel Roberts and Jean Marsh - brilliant!!!
Crazy ending, I did not see that coming. Great writing, cast and plot though.
Great Twist in the end
Good movie
I must say these British are long winded in the Dialog
😉😉😉
Cool movie. Love Lloyd Bridges.
The ending is pretty funny. I like old movies in part because the endings are usually happy or bittersweet, not depressing like most movies/T.V. show finales today.
Thats why I only watch old B&W movies
Lloyd Bridges was a hottie back in the day!!! I love classics like this.
Have you seen Jeff Bridges?
This is very good movie! And the small part played by Jean Marsh -- fantastic. Also to see Lloyd Bridges was great. As a child I used to watch him on TV in Sea Hunt. And Moira Lister, whose name I didn't know, did a wonderful job, fine acting.
Thanks very much to PizzaFlix.
Yes, good old Sea Hunt. We never missed it. Every week Lloyd got caught in the kelp!
Ralph Dratman did not recognise Jean marsh, saw her name on credits, she must have had a nose job, nice job.
Lily Marie I was about 6 years to Young to see Sea Hunt. But I've been watching on here. Good show on the last season
The Sheriff of Nottingham ...
Thank you for this movie
Great movie. Thanks for the upload.
I injoyed the film like Lloyd bridges good actor
([:>o):::I was born in 1952 and I like seeing the old cars as a boy growing up in west Texas!
Thanks for the movie...
Wow!! Wish I could get away with a surprise ending like that. I'm a struggling writer. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, Yvonne, so am I. But I was always taught that the it-was-all-a-dream plot was a cheap and gimmicky way to write. (But I have to admit I smiled at the ending because I was happy for Frank.)
Bridges quit "Sea Hunt" he felt the scripts were too violent and stupid, way to go Lloyd the father of the "Dude"..........😎🎸🍀
Ok, I didn't see that ending coming, especially the last few seconds.
Great movie. What a surprise at the end. Very witty from the director!
Thank you!

Another British film good cast
Never saw that coming. Fabulous x
Thank you for another FABULOUS gem !
Keep up the great work.
I really enjoyed this cliffhanger !
Thought movie was ok, with a plot that was weak to begin with & poor ending. Seeing Lloyd Bridges again was the best part. What a classy man, husband, and dad he was off screen. The ending seems to be quite polarising with viewers. Personally, I liked it. Can understand that some people might feel cheated, but I didn't.
those were the good old days , the Queens coronation , the picket laws , television , the jet passenger plane , the Comet , frosted cornflakes and cocoa , what a time to be alive .
Alan wheatley aka the sheriff of nottingham never miss that!
A brilliant film ...........what a climax
Fantastic! A surprise twist! Good movie! A++++
Love these twisty movies,lol.
15:07 "By this time my lungs were aching for air."
Very good with a nice twist in the end!👍👏😊
Great film, with a FaB ending!
The beginning brought back memories . I flew back to London from America in a Super constellation of BOAC in 1958.
Hi that was good I did not see that coming, they need more movies like this!
LLOYD BRIDGES WAS A LIKABLE CHAP AND HIS SONS BEAU AND JEFF ADORED HIM!
Just watched Starman with his son Jeff...🦁🦁🦁🦁
Hide under the bed. No one will ever think to look there.
Thanks for the LOVE..
And Love is the most important thing. 🍕🍕🍕
Lionel Blair
dancing the xylophone
Pauline asks Scotland Yard to come back because she's expecting guests and has a headache???
The British are so polite. Even when they arrest someone. Gotta like their manners
I fell for this too! Great movie.
Very enjoyable
Great, thanks for posting.
11 years after directing this movie, Cy Endfield directed ZULU
That’s the longest night mare.
The ending WTF - Great Movie
Best use of a whip pan ever!
What accounts for this wild ending? As Loyd Bridges says in another movie, "I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."
Count Vlad did he really? Nice line.
I don't get it... it was bizarre what the?? A different Frank at the end? just weird
Maria Pierce well he dreamed it all I suppose. I know, corny as they come!
@@stevef9530 😆😆😆
The story is a dream he has while sleeping on the plane.
Another one of those dream movies just lik the "Woman in the Window". Are there any more like these? Anyone.
Only joking.
Philips is a great long standing actor
LOL, that's how school children end a story that's gotten too long and they want to end abruptly. Still, I enjoyed the movie.
What a fabulous ending. I felt dumb for having watched through the film after seeing what the reality was. Anyway, it was well worth it.
Terrific old movie -thank you PizzaFlix!

Good filmnoir well conceived
Looks like Sea Hunter picked the wrong week to mess with The Sheriff of Nottingham, Prince John's tax collector.

Common it may be, but still a cop-out. Very disappointing to be robbed of closure and for the writer to be absolved from making sense of the plot.
Everyone has a dream something like this one. I just did.
Sooooooo Cool! Thanks!
That was good!!!!! Thanks Pizza Fix!!
Loved the ending
Worth it just for the Lockheed Constellation at the start....
Now I know where they got the idea for the "Who shot JR" business. That also was just a dream.
You fucking idiot.
@@gogmorelane4493 I guess watch the Movie before nosing into the comments, lol.
Thanks for spoiling it.
I also got the ending spoilt by this idiot!
@@ClassicAustralianTV He also spoils it for the UA-cam because people won’t watch and that’s the whole point of monetizing the videos.
