Misha's artistry knows no boundries, he is one of a kind, generous a master teacher and has kept his humility throughout his life and career which was always evolving. Although he lives in america, it was canada and a lawyer from Toronto that helped him to seek asylum. The lawyer's wife drove the car, and they wanted to get him out earlier, he refused saying he was going to dance the last performance, which he did. The company denounced him. He didn't speak any english and had to run to the get away car! He was saying merci all the way. He has always been grateful to Canada and has come back on several occasions. What a wonderful man and of course the most outstanding dancer of his lifetime. As a Canadian I am proud we played a role of getting misha to freedom. He gave up everything up for his art , however he got his freedom to dance and gave us so much back. ❤❤❤love from Canada 🇨🇦 misha. It was our pleasure and honor to help you. 2:21

This year, 2021, a young Portugese 17yr old won the Prix de Lausanne. His name is Antonio Casalinho When I think of the extraordinary Baryshnikov, of his unmatched technical excellence, his extraordinary artistry, his musicality, his frame of mind and humility, I am reminded of this new young dancer, and how Baryshnikov enabled the pursuit of excellence by young men today. My 2 greatest moments of male ballet dancers are the 1 minute of Baryshnikov's drunken solo in Don Quixote, and the performance and potential in the young Casalinho's Acteon variation in the final of the Prix De Lausanne.

To me, ballet is kind of lame, but Misha is like watching Tiger woods play golf, Jordan play basketball and Federer play tennis. When I look at him like I’d look at Jordan playing, he’s amazing. The greats always make stuff look easy, sometimes too easy, so you don’t realize how hard what he’s doing, is. Looking at him and others as athletes is where I get it. He’s 5’5” and I’m sure could dunk. I get the artistry when I see videos of him compared to others doing the same, but it’s the jumps and landings that blow me away as a sports fan. Here I go down another UA-cam rabbit hole

When I was in Ballet as a child, my dad would make references to Baryshnikov hahah and I never knew who that was until I was a little older. I look at the clips of his art...and wow...SPECTACULAR!!!

Ms. Stone, what a nonsense you are talking about? Are you implying that he came on the top due to being corrupted? Do you you expect of him to form a "Baryshnikov foundation against corruption in my American Western Culture"? Baryshnikov is a great artist, this is his tool for spreading the art and set new heights. Corruption in art is something that artists-loosers typically use to justify their failures. A talent will always prevail since there is demand for it.

I meet Baryshnikov - in 1980 - I say the movie the Turning point - and wanted to be a dancer, so I walked into the backstory of that movie - meeting all the players as I studied ballet. He gave me a dirty look - bottom line - he may be great but he is just a person.

To dream about creating a new style of dance and advanced choreography was Misha's modus operandi. The creative force of positivity and innate drive makes dreams come true.

  • @victorjcolacchio610

Peter Martins - is delusional - he asks Baryshnikov to show him a move and Misha says sure - and that makes him generous - not really - Martins can't perform the tricks because his body is bigger, Baryshnikov is 5 foot 5 inches, 140 lbs - in other words - he's a light as a feather. Also Baryshnikov has been trained in a classical system - with a great teacher. Sure BAryshnkov has supernatural abilities - like is ability to have extraordinary balance.
