Def agree with you! I can't imagine MX without Minhyuk. He's the sunshine of the group after all! This show was demoralizing for him, and I'm not even shocked that he thought he would be cut because we saw his confidence go lower and lower with each episode because he was close to last, if not last. ik this is old but yes! minhyuk going straight to hyungwon and then immediately to jooheon after and just holding him. it was especially hard on jooheon to not get to debut with gun and he knew it. he was always the right choice for the group, and as sad as it was for the others, it helps knowing they still made it later on. but mx simply would not have been the same without each one of the 7 it was a horrible rough path, but the result was perfection. 🥲♥

I understand why the others were upset; I don't think I would do better than they did, but it takes a very empathetic person to still reach out.
Yes Gun and Jooheon might be on par as far as rapping, but what they mean about Gun being too hyped up is that he lacks control....or restraint might be the better word. Jooheon knows when to go hard, but he also knows when to pull it back when he needs to. That requires alot of discipline which Gun unfortunately lacked. His main downfall was his lack of dancing skills, which might have been the deciding factor. Plus they needed a rapper to compliment Jooheon...2 different rapping styles that blend and compliment each other perfectly, and that was I.M. Two rappers with the same styles on stage wouldn't look or sound as good, and they saw how well Joo and I.M worked & sounded together on the last couple of missions.

I think they took four members to the MAIN positions. Main rapper, main dancer, main vocal, main visual - Joohoney, Shownu, Kihyun, Hyungwon. And then they took three to the leading and sub positions - Wonho, I.M, Minhyuk. Wonho won most of the missions, but this didn’t give him the main position and leadership🥲 I don't think they knew the lineup from the beginning. Perhaps they decided in the last episodes. For example, I think at the beginning K.Will, Hyolyn and Soyou were sure that Yoonho would debut. I think they chose I.M. and Minhyuk in the last episodes. #Gun and Seokwon didn't have a chance anymore. Changkyun is better at rapping + his english skill. Minhyuk is stronger, more confident and more charismatic Maybe they where sure about Shownu, Joohoney and Kihyun from the beginning
Ahhh the fact that I was so excited all throughout my work shift earlier to come home and watch this reaction lol ❤❤ But congration! You've made it through No Mercy, which meaaans...you've now graduated to the next level of Monbebe~! 🎉🎆🎊 So chronologically, the next TV show that Monsta X did is called "Right Now", and it was filmed less than a year (!) after their debut. There's some last remnants of their group's debut that get sorted in the show, but it's otherwise a really fun watch :) It also feels, idk, more "real" to watch - like, less of that idol persona filtered sheen is on the bois at that point, making them a bit more "raw" in a way. (It also has confident Shownu, which we love to see~ and cute moments with I.M, which soothes away all the No Mercy aches :3 ) From my understanding, the reason both Hyungwon and Minhyuk (and Kwangji) came to Starship together, is because their past companies would offer only one of them to debut, not both. And Minnie and Wonnie were like, "No, either it's both of us debuting together, or no dice." So they had to keep working hard to improve and shop around for companies to make sure that neither would be left behind. So, I wouldn't be surprised if Minhyuk had an extra layer of stress during No Mercy, where because he was consistently at the bottom and on the losing team during missions, he was anxious that he and Hyungwon wouldn't be able to debut together. And, since Minnie is such a sweetheart, I'm sure that at the same time, he wouldn't want to hold Wonnie back from debuting because of him. I truly think Minhyuk did not expect to get picked for MX, considering his No Mercy ending speech was that despite some of the trainees having to go their separate ways, he sincerely hoped they'd all stay in touch. I'm sure he was saying that more for himself than anything, because it's clear our beloved puppy had formed close bonds with everyone there, and Minnie was anticipating being cut. That's why the constant demoralization and losing missions hurts deeply to see, because we can tell how badly its affecting Minhyuk (and Shownu too, ofc) as we get to the later episodes. As for the Piglet plushies/posters in the audience, that's actually a reference to Jooheon! Honestly I have always thought that Monsta X had the perfect formation, the group just clicked, all members are great. I will always be salty on how SSE has been handling the group for years, and how monbebe are overall and in general a fandom that to this day still lacks, but oh well. Thank you so much for your reaction to this show. I couldn't get to watch it again, but I did it with you which made it more bearable.

Thanks for the reaction guys. I don't have to much to say about this episode Ig. I cried so much when I first watched it and I'm just glad they all "made it" now. All of their reactions to being chosen as a member are so emotional, I just love them so much. I can't help but feel bad for Jooheon (and WH & SN too as they were all part of Nuboyz with Gun). Minhyuk's reaction broke me, he really thought he wouldn't make it. Seokwon and #Gun took it so well. I.M hugging Honey at the end is the absolute best moment in this whole show periodt. I hope you have some more uplifting programms in ur watchlist for the future. For the team songs I can't help but think that it's really unfair how Honey's team was the only one who got an original song, all the others had to perform covers and especially for rappers that's really a huhge disadvantage.... Like they should have at least let Gun either write his own verse/ given all of the groups original songs or covers/ or have all the rappers in one unit. Kinda manipulative me thinks. Interstellar and No Exit(the final song with all nine) are both tracks on their first album Trespass btw. They rearranged Seokwon's and Gun's parts but it sounds about the same. I absolutletly love No Exit as a song but the performance was really weirdly edited as Beth already pointed out (I.M did have his part tho, it's the same on the album too). You can watch the dance practice of it on YT, Jooheon and Shownu pop off. Idk if you know but the part where they showed WH, SN & JH together was because they helped a lot with the final choreo as they are the main dancers so to say (Hyungwon is a dancer too but he really only got involved in choreo after debut and him having the official dancer position). (IDK why some Mbb say that Honey isn't in the dance line when he auditioned for Starship with dance and got accepted but that's a different topic) Anyways at the end of the day I loved all the performances and I'm so happy that this show is over once again. Thank you for putting yourself through this, editing all the episodes (dealing with copyright), reading all the comments and responding, having your long discussions, etc. Ur channel is such a blessing, it's so nice to see how much honest passion you have for all the things you react to. Although the other group did covers, maybe it was their choice to do covers? I can't tell because it felt like it was sooooo rushed. I wouldn't mind re-watching episode 10 again just for the stages. However, because it's an original song, maybe it help catapulted them even further for originality and this worked for this sub-unit so much. I see it as a positive thing (of course I'll always find the positive from something lol). For #GUN, I wonder what the discussions were about if they should add his own rap to the song or not...that would have been nice if he could have. =( This song was def a disadvantage to him. They did well but Shownu and Minhyuk were def memorable and connected with the crowd. Although #GUN didn't make it to MX, it was probably best that he debuted solo. Although I see comments that SSE didn't treat him well, I'm glad they saw potential in him and signed him when they did. He may have lost in the show, but they knew he had star potential. I think what the judges meant by "too hyped up" was #GUN back then could get away from the rhythm whenever he got too excited. We saw it happen in the last mission, when he was rapping too fast that it was confusing for us listeners to get a sense of the beat. Of course, #GUN improved over the years, and I really liked his style when he released "Lord" and "Orange Room." It's a shame Starship didn't take care of him well enough that he had to leave eventually.
That is so disheartening to hear that SSE didn't take good care of #GUN. =( Another mbb said that he didn't release new music since 2020? We'll have to check out his catalog at some point. Allow me to add more cynicism to Beth's lol. I think at this point in the competition Starship already had in their minds a core batch of guys whom they want in the final lineup and a couple of others whom they were still on the fence about. It was pretty much obvious to me when they put Jooheon, I.M and Hyungwon together - the 2 rappers have complemented each other well back during their first mission and Hyungwon was given the opportunity to stand out as the sole vocalist. It just felt like they were trying to steer the voters' choices towards what Starship wanted. That aside, it was my fav performance as the 3 boys looked amazing together. Interstellar became my fav song in their debut album. I too wondered what would've happened if there was a tie in any of the votes and what/who the tiebreaker was.... I think it's Deokspatch that you were talking about lol. Apart from Vacation there's also Monsta X Right Now and their Twotuckgom series but I'm not too sure if you'll risk getting blocked especially with the latter. But yes there's loads of variety for you with these bunch of lovable dorks

You could really see on all of the guys faces. It was such a bitter sweet moment. They made it but how could they celebrate without the other two. From my understanding #GUN is a solo artist. And the one who was eliminated right before IM got there he’s in the group VAV. Last I heard he was still in it but inactive? So I’m not sure.
I'm so glad #GUN made it in the industry as a soloist, though from another mbb, she said that he hasn't released anything new since 2020. Totally agreed that the guys were relieved that they were chosen but also heartbroken because they had to move forward as a band without #GUN and Seokwan.

Este último episodio fue toda una montaña rusa de emociones, jamás voy a superar la presentación de Kihyun y Wonho, son tan sexys. La primera vez me sorprendí mucho que Minhyuk fuera el último en ser elegido, yo creí que sería I.M, casi nadie tenía fe en Min incluso por lo que sé, creo que muchos pensaban que no lograría debutar pero me alegro que lo haya logrado; I.M me dio mucha pena porque no podía ni siquiera levantar la cabeza, debió sentirse culpable más que nada por Jooheon, él esperaba debutar con Gun, ellos eran amigos además que ya trabajaban juntos en NuBoyz. Que momento tan duro pero que admirable que han logrado formar una familia y que se apoyan en todo momento. I think #gun had a problem staying on beat sometimes and this is just something that is unacceptable for a rapper. Rapping really fast is only impressive if you’re following the rhythm. This is why Mad Clown called him old fashioned from the beginning because some old fashioned rappers tended to do this

Ahhh the fact that I was so excited all throughout my work shift earlier to come home and watch this reaction lol ❤❤ But congration! You've made it through No Mercy, which meaaans...you've now graduated to the next level of Monbebe~! 🎉🎆🎊
So chronologically, the next TV show that Monsta X did is called "Right Now", and it was filmed less than a year (!) after their debut. There's some last remnants of their group's debut that get sorted in the show, but it's otherwise a really fun watch :) It also feels, idk, more "real" to watch - like, less of that idol persona filtered sheen is on the bois at that point, making them a bit more "raw" in a way. (It also has confident Shownu, which we love to see~ and cute moments with I.M, which soothes away all the No Mercy aches :3 )
From my understanding, the reason both Hyungwon and Minhyuk (and Kwangji) came to Starship together, is because their past companies would offer only one of them to debut, not both. And Minnie and Wonnie were like, "No, either it's both of us debuting together, or no dice." So they had to keep working hard to improve and shop around for companies to make sure that neither would be left behind.
So, I wouldn't be surprised if Minhyuk had an extra layer of stress during No Mercy, where because he was consistently at the bottom and on the losing team during missions, he was anxious that he and Hyungwon wouldn't be able to debut together. And, since Minnie is such a sweetheart, I'm sure that at the same time, he wouldn't want to hold Wonnie back from debuting because of him.
I truly think Minhyuk did not expect to get picked for MX, considering his No Mercy ending speech was that despite some of the trainees having to go their separate ways, he sincerely hoped they'd all stay in touch. I'm sure he was saying that more for himself than anything, because it's clear our beloved puppy had formed close bonds with everyone there, and Minnie was anticipating being cut. That's why the constant demoralization and losing missions hurts deeply to see, because we can tell how badly its affecting Minhyuk (and Shownu too, ofc) as we get to the later episodes.
As for the Piglet plushies/posters in the audience, that's actually a reference to Jooheon! The affectionate (not mocking) joke in the fandom is that Honey looks like Piglet, and Shownu looks like Winnie the Pooh :3 And if you want a wholesome laugh, people have made photoshops and moodboards with this meme that you can google 😊

We were supposed to watch "Right Now" after "Monsta X-Ray," but I convinced Beth to move forward with "No.Mercy" even tho we were both kinda cringing thinking about it. haha. I'm glad we did though. We already loved the band but now we have a much deeper appreciation for them (is that even possible?). Woo hoo! We graduated! Honestly I have always thought that Monsta X had the perfect formation, the group just clicked, all members are great. I will always be salty on how SSE has been handling the group for years, and how monbebe are overall and in general a fandom that to this day still lacks, but oh well.

I cried so much when I first watched it and I'm just glad they all "made it" now.
All of their reactions to being chosen as a member are so emotional, I just love them so much.
I can't help but feel bad for Jooheon (and WH & SN too as they were all part of Nuboyz with Gun).
Minhyuk's reaction broke me, he really thought he wouldn't make it.
Seokwon and #Gun took it so well.
I.M hugging Honey at the end is the absolute best moment in this whole show periodt.
I hope you have some more uplifting programms in ur watchlist for the future.
For the team songs I can't help but think that it's really unfair how Honey's team was the only one who got an original song, all the others had to perform covers and especially for rappers that's really a huhge disadvantage....
Like they should have at least let Gun either write his own verse/ given all of the groups original songs or covers/ or have all the rappers in one unit.

Interstellar and No Exit(the final song with all nine) are both tracks on their first album Trespass btw. They rearranged Seokwon's and Gun's parts but it sounds about the same.
I absolutletly love No Exit as a song but the performance was really weirdly edited as Beth already pointed out (I.M did have his part tho, it's the same on the album too).
You can watch the dance practice of it on YT, Jooheon and Shownu pop off.
Idk if you know but the part where they showed WH, SN & JH together was because they helped a lot with the final choreo as they are the main dancers so to say (Hyungwon is a dancer too but he really only got involved in choreo after debut and him having the official dancer position).
(IDK why some Mbb say that Honey isn't in the dance line when he auditioned for Starship with dance and got accepted but that's a different topic)
Anyways at the end of the day I loved all the performances and I'm so happy that this show is over once again.

It was so hard to watch Minhyuk and Shownu's confidence drop every episode. Ugh! And poor Minhyuk, he was mentally prepared to be cut and the look on his face when he was chosen. 😩 Can you imagine MX without Minhyuk?! I sure can't!
The hug with Changkyun and Jooheon was such a special moment! Love them together so much and so glad they get along so well...they're truly inseparable brothers. =)
As for the stages, let me give you a spin on here. Although the other group did covers, maybe it was their choice to do covers? I can't tell because it felt like it was sooooo rushed. I wouldn't mind re-watching episode 10 again just for the stages. However, because it's an original song, maybe it help catapulted them even further for originality and this worked for this sub-unit so much. I see it as a positive thing (of course I'll always find the positive from something lol). For #GUN, I wonder what the discussions were about if they should add his own rap to the song or not...that would have been nice if he could have. =( This song was def a disadvantage to him. They did well but Shownu and Minhyuk were def memorable and connected with the crowd.
Although #GUN didn't make it to MX, it was probably best that he debuted solo. Although I see comments that SSE didn't treat him well, I'm glad they saw potential in him and signed him when they did. He may have lost in the show, but they knew he had star potential. He "won" in the end, you know?

I think what the judges meant by "too hyped up" was #GUN back then could get away from the rhythm whenever he got too excited. We saw it happen in the last mission, when he was rapping too fast that it was confusing for us listeners to get a sense of the beat. Of course, #GUN improved over the years, and I really liked his style when he released "Lord" and "Orange Room." It's a shame Starship didn't take care of him well enough that he had to leave eventually.
That is so disheartening to hear that SSE didn't take good care of #GUN. =( Another mbb said that he didn't release new music since 2020? We'll have to check out his catalog at some point. He was very charismatic on the show and has such a great personality.

It was rough indeed! We always loved the guys but now we have such a deeper appreciation of them because of what they wen thru.
Allow me to add more cynicism to Beth's lol. I think at this point in the competition Starship already had in their minds a core batch of guys whom they want in the final lineup and a couple of others whom they were still on the fence about. It was pretty much obvious to me when they put Jooheon, I.M and Hyungwon together - the 2 rappers have complemented each other well back during their first mission and Hyungwon was given the opportunity to stand out as the sole vocalist. It just felt like they were trying to steer the voters' choices towards what Starship wanted. That aside, it was my fav performance as the 3 boys looked amazing together. Interstellar became my fav song in their debut album.
I too wondered what would've happened if there was a tie in any of the votes and what/who the tiebreaker was....
I think it's Deokspatch that you were talking about lol. Apart from Vacation there's also Monsta X Right Now and their Twotuckgom series but I'm not too sure if you'll risk getting blocked especially with the latter. But yes there's loads of variety for you with these bunch of lovable dorks

And the one who was eliminated right before IM got there he’s in the group VAV. Last I heard he was still in it but inactive? So I’m not sure.
I'm so glad #GUN made it in the industry as a soloist, though from another mbb, she said that he hasn't released anything new since 2020.
Totally agreed that the guys were relieved that they were chosen but also heartbroken because they had to move forward as a band without #GUN and Seokwan.

Gun is a good rapper for sure but i thing his style like suits underground rap and his look like a solo rapper more than idol group member. Don't get me wrong, he such a cutie pai but they would be like a different group within the group especially with Joo. Now he is a solo rapper and am happy for him.
Joo and IM they were made for each other. im glad they put same unit so we can see they cemistry and we got best rapline in kpop, thank God.
I think last episode performances is the best, songs suits them more than other songs and performances.

Este último episodio fue toda una montaña rusa de emociones, jamás voy a superar la presentación de Kihyun y Wonho, son tan sexys. La primera vez me sorprendí mucho que Minhyuk fuera el último en ser elegido, yo creí que sería I.M, casi nadie tenía fe en Min incluso por lo que sé, creo que muchos pensaban que no lograría debutar pero me alegro que lo haya logrado; I.M me dio mucha pena porque no podía ni siquiera levantar la cabeza, debió sentirse culpable más que nada por Jooheon, él esperaba debutar con Gun, ellos eran amigos además que ya trabajaban juntos en NuBoyz. Que momento tan duro pero que admirable que han logrado formar una familia y que se apoyan en todo momento.
Espero que puedan reaccionar a Deokspatch, son vídeos cortos pero muy divertidos, para pasar el trago amargo de No Mercy.

Diré que a pesar de que #GUN no llegó a debutar con los chicos; en retrospectiva, de todos modos fue un mejor solista. Sin embargo, no quita el dolor y el dolor por el que pasaron todos los muchachos.
Changkyun, me sentí muy mal para ser realmente honesto contigo. Pasó por muchas cosas y estoy muy feliz de que haya podido debutar con los muchachos. Changkyun y Jooheon realmente se complementan muy bien. No puedo verlo sin ser parte del grupo. Fue muy difícil ver a Changkyun "ganar" y su cabeza estaba baja todo el tiempo. Nos entristece ver eso también.
Además, ¿podemos hablar de lo increíble que fue este último episodio con los escenarios? Wonho y Kiki eran realmente muy sexys. Como... necesito mi abanico en todo momento. jajaja.
Me encantó ver la dinámica con Jooheon, Changkyun y Hyungwon. Se llevaban tan bien juntos. Fue genial verlos como una subunidad. Estaba tan impresionado.

I think #gun had a problem staying on beat sometimes and this is just something that is unacceptable for a rapper. Rapping really fast is only impressive if you’re following the rhythm. This is why Mad Clown called him old fashioned from the beginning because some old fashioned rappers tended to do this
