Zane is basically a kid that peaked in high school, got slapped by the real world and could never truly find his footing in it. It's amazing how GX realistically developed some of its characters.
@TheLegendaryHungryWolf I meant more in long term. He did change for a while when he got Cyberdarks, but Zane fell back into his old habits in season 3. He was at his very best in season 2 where he utilized Cyber Dragons and Cyberdarks together. His heart problems were caused by Cyberdarks lashing out at him because he didn't want to use them and evolve even more. It is no coincidence that only cards Zane used when his heart attacks were at their very worst were solely Cyber Dragons. Throughout his duel with Yubel he only used his Cyber Dragons in a way that reminded Jaden of their graduation duel in season 1.
Zane is the most realistic depiction of a modern day Yugioh player. His journey can also help seen as an allegory for people trying to make it In the real world. When you don’t add on to your own perspective from what you see then you’ll never move forward nor prosper. He had a deck and strategy that he got away with for years. He had a slow strategy that was simple yet effective. Now when push comes to shove he learns all he believed in and his strategies was pointless. So he learned a new deck from the ground up and learn. A whole new strategy and seeing how you must advance quickly or you’ll get lost in the shuffle. Take whatever direction you can regardless if it’s good or bad to move forward(the GX eng sub does his character more Justice). He is in a way was the pioneer of the FTK/OTK along with Mill strategies.
I have a cyberdragon/cyberdark deck IRL and on master duel. It's one of those decks where if you can get out your boss monster, you're near invincible. But if you can't, you're done. It'd be interesting to see Zane play the modern version of his deck.
I really wish in Season 2 there was a duel between Jaden and Zane, Neo Spacians vs. Cyberdarks. Then it will possibly show Jaden getting Zane to regret the people he hurt in his duels when he turned a dark corner.
You deserved all the love GX was my favorite. My kids knew it and got me a Flame wingman and made me completely rebuild that deck. And I'm actually working on my cybers. Hard work deserve love keep doing you ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿... BTW A-1 character analysis

I worshipped Zane as a child. My first YT channel was HellKaiser666. All through high school I went through a Hell Kaiser J phase. Lol. He was really cool.
So Zane is Bakugou Katsuki, but unlike Bakugou who had a Positive Character Arc he had a Negative one, followed by returning to his old self. Interesting!
@@LateNightSausage I meant in regards to everything else. The child prodigy. Being told that they were special and better than others. Having a mental break once that became challenged. Both characters initially get worse afterwards, and both still manage to come out of the end of their respective series as much better people. They have a lot in common.
Zane, and Z-ARC from ARC-V are two of my favorite duelists because of how they tackle the fear of loss and defeat In two similar, and dramatically different ways.
@@LateNightSausage before the series, Z-ARC was the World Duel Champion, and he could hear the voices of his monsters, and other monsters. He cracked under the pressure and exploded, using his monsters to attack the audience that treated him like a circus animal. When all he wanted to be at first was a duelist who could connect with his opponents and their monsters, he became a world ending Calamity.
This was nice, but I'm still holding out hope that someone will one day do an Aster/Edo Phoenix analysis. If I don’t ask, no one else will since everyone else just does or wants Jaden, Zane, Chazz, Alexis, Yubel, and Jesse.
@LateNightStrawhat1 Thanks! Although the last time people told me that they would, over a year and over half a year passed and they still haven't done it. But I will try to have hope still!
@@LateNightSausage OK, if you do research on him, I advise you to use the sub since the dub did not change his character for the better, and let's just say that his attitude is not seen as near as tolerable nowadays compared to when GX was more popular. Not really sure how I can expand on his journey like zane and the others
@@LateNightSausage the only thing that is debatable is Prime Hell Kaiser vs S4 Judai. Every other version of Judai loses to prime Kaiser (late S2 and early S3).
Something that I like about Zane's character arc is that it feels like a twist on the DM character arcs. Kaiba started out like Zane, but eventually got evil and the only thing to snap him out of it was Atem literally mind crushing him with ancient Egyptian magic, destroying the evil in his heart. Same thing with Marek. Zane on the other hand, didn't really become "evil" (at least not to the same extent), he's just changed for the worse. And his change back to good does not come from someone using magic to destroy this new "evil" version, it comes from new experiences and a shift in perspective. In this way GX stands out more from DM. Duel monsters is a lot about sorcery, dark magic and spirits, whereas GX is more grounded (for the most part, I know plenty of supernatural/crazy things occur) where characters who change aren't overtaken by any evil persona that must be destroyed, but rather just from how living their life. And no matter how bad things they still find a way back, both Jaden and Zane. It's very realistic as we too undergo change, for better or worse.
Prime Hell Kaiser (late S2 and early S3) is arguably the strongest Duelist in GX. Forced plot is the only thing that can could beat him. For those who doubt that, I can explain in details 💯
@@LateNightSausage sure, I will write leave a big comment later, but for now, let's just say this. You can argue for prime Hell Kaiser vs S4 Judai, but in the first three seasons Kaiser was definitely stronger. You agree with that or should I explain that too?
@@LateNightSausage ok, so let me in short explain the scaling in Season 3 first, I will also include Johan.. Hell Kaiser>S3 Judai>=S3 Johan.. Judai fought Yubel three times and could never beat her. In the first duel Judai would have for sure lost if Johan didn't joined the duel. The two of them together barely managed to survive, Johan had to sacrifice himself to save Judai. In the 2nd duel, Judai had full knowledge about Yubel's advanced Crystal Beats and he still did worse than Kaiser (Kaiser knew nothing, especially because Yubel created her own op field spell, Kaiser also used his weakest deck). Judai even had Rainbow Dragon in his deck (Johan again basically had to help Judai). And yet, Yubel was playing with Judai, she predicted everything and easily achieved her goal (getting super polymerization). From that it is more than clear that S3 Kaiser is stronger than S3 Judai. And since S3 Johan is around S3 Judai level (arguably weaker), it is also clear that Kaiser is stronger than Johan.
@@LateNightSausage oh, that's not how i see it. mind you the reason why he threatened suicide, idk if you watch the sub but it was because he would rather die then live without his bother, witch is extreme character growth from the death t arc. along with that, yugi did not want to kill another person, Atem on the other hand lol
