A look into the 7 reasons Lyft and Uber strike protest doesn't work. There have been many Uber drivers who have gone through the motions of staging strikes for more income or wages. In 2019 there were more involved, but the outcome is typically the same. Nothing changes!
Lyft drivers and Uber drivers have to understand that there is a lot more to standing outside of a corporate building to get REAL results. To affect the bottom line of a multi-billion dollar company you have to address the 7 things listed below and in this video.
1. Short Term Effect
2. Replacement - How replaceable are the drivers?
3. Public & Government Support?
4. Can you get Riders to join the strike?
5. Uber Drivers vs Truck Drivers (Real Power)
6. Surplus Drivers (people available and willing to do the job in the current conditions)
7. The Wait Game - You can’t afford to wait Uber out.
An Uber Lyft strike conversation is valid, but it needs more organization. No matter if you strike today, tomorrow or next year the ending will be the same unless you can address the dynamics above. Everyone wants to report Uber news or make videos about the rideshare business mode, but not many will tell the truth about how hard it is to change it.
The next time someone wants to organize a strike in a city like Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, San Diego or Washington D.C. show them this video. - Авто та транспорт
I'm glad he did make this video 📹. Even if Uber didn't want him to. I never understood why he gets the hate for. He's been the best (imo) Uber UA-camr. His information, if you follow it, will help you out tremendously. 👍
It has helped me, definitely.
Thanks fam. I'm glad you can see through the B.S. and use the information to build your financial stability.
It's crazy that an uber strike is just essentially not turning on the app.......
IDK IJS Simple as that...lol
@@TheSimpleDriver I must have been on strike for 5 months lol
So long as Drunk riders get to evaluate sobers Drivers I’ll never work for Uber again.
Hell yeah. It's completely unfair. You're more likely to get hit with false reports driving certain crowds. The rating system is too subjective. You can have a 4.94 today & be deactivated tomorrow.
That's a fair comment. I understand it too. Thanks for chiming in.
Exactly. They should do that.
Lol thats sad but true
Another thing that you could have pointed out was the day of the week that they decided to hold this "strike" - Wednesday(one of the slowest days of the week). If they really wanted Uber to feel it, they should have done it on a Saturday or the entire weekend.
Great comment. You are correct in bringing up another good point.
And how many drivers would have turned on their apps to drive that Saturday/weekend thinking they were going to catch a surge? People like that were opportunistic on the aforementioned Wednesday. It doesn't matter which day or for how long people need to stick together!!!
Thank you for making this video Calvin. Rideshare is supposed to be a “side hustle to greatness”.
The ones running around protesting are trying to live off it and make it a career.
Yes, and that's the bigger issue.
And what's wrong with that? Isn't that UberTubers have done? Push products, services, Patreon, merch, etc.?
Sha As a “Side Hustle to Greatness”, this shouldn’t be your MAIN thing. If you watched Calvin’s videos from the beginning he has two businesses he’s runs, that he eats off of.
As for myself I don’t have a business but I do have a full time job Uber is a “Side Hustle”.
Yes you are an Independent Contractor but they can cut you off at any time. Me personally I don’t want to rely on just Uber alone. They cut you off then your running around complaining and protesting.
It was not a side hustle. Something that produces 50-70k a year is not a side hustle dumbass. The problem was when two many brain dead idiots like ur stupid ass decided to turn it into a side hustle.
Oh well it wasent gonna last anyways.
I think a lot of people underestimated the power of the
strike, the strike highlighted labor abuses by Uber and Lyft. Lawmakers took
notice and now were are seeing tidal wave of regulation and a IRS audit of Uber.
Uber and Lyft are in hot water, soon they may be forced to pay for unemployment
insurance, retirement plan, health care subsidies, paid parental leave,
overtime pay, workers’ compensation, and a guaranteed minimum hourly wage.
I'll be watching.
Hey, first off your videos are amazing, without seeming like a copy cat or d rider I wanna say from watching your videos that we have a lot in common, photography, and business minded ( Im trying to start a successful amazon fba business)... I have a really quick question for you though; I live in NC and of course have a NC license but I wanna move to Atlanta to do the Uber flex because I don’t have a car, and for other entrepreneurial opportunities in Atlanta. Would I have to get a Atlanta license or will I be good with my NC license?
Agree with you on this issue.
There are idiots born everyday sign up to drive for Uber and Lyft.
This needs to be heard
I had to publish this vid.
The Simple Driver Agreed
I was recently deactivated from Uber after over 3 years of driving, 2445 safe rides, a 4.76-star rating and multiple rider compliments because a rider didn't feel safe in my car. I log my rides for tax purposes as a small business owner and my clipboard must have accidentally brushed this woman's leg in the front seat. Uber quickly deactivated me, without question; even after I talked with the Uber rep and explained to them that this was a misunderstanding and nothing happened. Bottom line is Calvin, you are spot on about driver replacement! Strikes about pay or anything else related to ridesharing doesn't matter. It is all about Uber and Lyft making money where the customer is ALWAYS correct, regardless of how trivial the customer's issue is during the ride. The driver is simply a contractor handling their own business, and since drivers are at the mercy of Uber or Lyft in the partnership, these companies have the last say in how they want to handle the rideshare business. Drivers are simply small fish in a big pond. Get over it or do something else!
Sorry to hear that Michael. Thanks for sharing your experience through your comment bro'.
Why are u here? Ur not even a driver anymore? Do u like to waste ur time?
What camera/lens do you use?
The camera is a Sony a6300
amzn.to/2KGMPTy
The lens is a Sony 28mm F/2

On point video man
Thanks.
Do you think people would be striking if they utilized the referral codes correctly.
Nope. I don't understand why they don't use them. I have done several videos explaining the power in them.
They DID use them. It’s just that there are so many drivers on UA-cam now that nobody takes them up on it. Uber also made it clear that drivers are no longer allowed to promote their codes to people they don’t know personally.
Uber is also trying to phase out the codes by lowering the bonus amounts to absurdly low amounts, they sign up bonuses in my market are only $10.
Please watch this video. You are costing yourself money and I mean $1,000's of dollars.
Uber is also finding any reason possible NOT to pay out those referral bonuses. They recognize the influence Calvin has. They're not going to do anything to piss him off!!! He could pull a contagious kill switch on their asses at anytime 😂
The Simple Driver - At $10 a pop it would take an awfully long time to reach thousands of dollars.
🤣🤣🤣 Pawns do not seem very powerful but can be later in the game . Never forget there are more pawns than anyone . Enough pawns can press the attack on the diagonal and inflict crushing losses and even end the battle by crushing the internal enemy pawns and/or even corner the king of Uber to surrender one step at a time . Stategize wisely folks lmfao 🎯🤣
You are correct, but you have to know how to play the game to be effective. There is a very big difference between a s casual player of chess and a Grand Master...lol
The Simple Driver 😂 Agreed. However, let’s be crystal. If the pawns truly played their part and backed each other up lol, how effective would the King of Uber be if there were only 10% or less of all of the pawns available in every state? What would the King of Uber do? Deactivate them all and frantically place ads for 90% more pawns to sign up while millions of customers are pissed about the surge rate and off the chart wait time for a driver? lololol...But in my opinion , the rate issues have a lot to do with the over saturation on majority of these markets. Everybody and the Moms is an Uber or Lyft driver now. I moved to Alpharetta from Buckhead and make more than when I was in Buckhead lol 🎯🤣💀
@@sjohnson4285 LOL, great points. Congrats on your move too. Thanks for sharing.
Yes they can but they are all braindead, they are useless
Great video.
I live in a small town in Texas with about 17k people, and in order to make extra money, my best bet is to move and work bigger town like Houston. I have two questions: I am renewing my car this insurance with week, would Allstate know if I am working part-time as a driver? Which of the two companies is a better choice to drive for? I am in a pickle financially, so i got to make a decision really quickly. Thanks, guys.
AllState won't know unless you get in an accident. If that happens you will be in a world of trouble without Rideshare Insurance because they will not cover you. Uber is the best Rideshare company because they control more demand for their services than Lyft. You can do both, but you will get more calls on the Uber platform. Hope this helps.
@@TheSimpleDriver Thanks, Calvin. Hard to do certain small things when you are strapped for cash.
The best financial decision is to not work for uber. Download postmates or some other bullshit gig economy app. There are pleanty to chose from these days. Uber and lyft is 5-10k in startup costs for ur veichle. With 5-10k u can pay to learn a trade that actually pays. If u really need the money and dont want to waste ur time, sign up with a trucking company. Atleast u will get paid and get benefits. Some trucking companies dont even charge u anything up front for schooling. School costs is around 3-5k. Less than an investment in a veihcle to be a slave for uber.
And if u rent a car from uber u will get screwed even worse. Please just take whatever money u have and keep it as far away from uber as possible.
In terms insurance (and this is not legal advice)
Most drivers dont report that they drive for uber and lyft to insurance companies. If ur honest and u do, the insurance company will either make u pay commercial insurance (which isnt worth it considering the money u make) or most likley they will black list u and wont sell u insurance or sell it to u at astronomical prices. So most drivers just dont tell the insurance company they drive for uber
Hard realities
Indeed.
Very good video.
Well explain...very good job sir
Fucking awesome.
Thanks.
Love it!!!
so we lost
Guy who has a channel supported by uber said that striking them is pointless. Ah, must be right.
Never said striking was pointless. I clearly said that this video will arm you with information to be in a BETTER position for any future strikes. But, make no mistake about the video. If you strike without understanding these issues it will be unsuccessful. How do you not understand that?
@@TheSimpleDriver ok, so I respect your opinion. And your insight. But with that said, now make a video showing the people how they should have striked to get the desired outcome they wanted.......I'll wait.
It's cause it is. We are pawns expendable. Until we actually unite for at least a month we ain't going to do shit. Resistance is futile.
@Raquel Ocasio I would but I dont know how either. However I'm not setting here telling you why striking won't work without giving you some solutions either........was that wait long?
There is no need for me to make a video talking about how to properly strike. I have made several videos that show drivers how to diversify their income using Uber. I have one that shows drivers how to make $10,000 a month using the Uber platform. It has over 400K views. Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/SGRIQHkvH3Q/v-deo.html (In fact I have videos that clearly show drivers how to NOT drive as much and make more money) I would suggest watching those vids. Here is the direct link to my videos thesimpledriver.com/youtube
Agree with your points If drivers move on forever and a bad reputation develops with these services then it can kill the business off. For example if cities ban the services from operation world wide, or another model is developed that is better and driver's flock to that.Or if people have little disposible income and drop lift services for electric scooter., bicycle or moped.
Thanks for commenting. Great point.
Striking is probably one of the dumbest things you can do. Uber pays what they pay take it or leave it Uber will find someone else to do it. For some...what Uber pays is enough. In reality....the more you make the more you need.
It is what it is. I hate I had to make this video, but it's the truth.
@@TheSimpleDriver just started watching your videos as I just started driving in Maryland last month. Your videos are very informative and helpful. I made 1890.00 last month part time a few hours a night. But I am going to set up my own website as well...have to have an exit strategy for sure. But I'm loving the quick income and meeting people.
How stupid are both of you? 😂 If everyone accepts your referral code offer, there will be more drivers than there are passengers... Oh wait! That's already the case in a lot of places! Not everyone wants to turn a part-time job into all of the stuff these UberTubers are doing to make extra money. If Uber/Lyft would just treat their driver "partners" right there would be no need to strike in the first place!!!!!
Who done your tshirts fam
Rush Order Tees
Thanks man I really apréciate that you make this video I think there’s different ways to ask for a better pay than doing it by protesting also this people don’t realize that probably in the near future they are not going to need humans anymore like they are already start doing it in China
Hehe we have the same name 🤣
Bruh whats your email I need to ask you a couple ?’s moving to atl from cali in 2mos
You can reach me at uber[at]thesimpledriver[dot]com
Sent email yesterday check it out....Thx
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Stop complaining i need express pool im paying u $4 for 5 miles.
This sell out just discourahed striking...
How should people raise concerns.
Strikes affect reputation of companies
Koena Mashitisho I guess you missed the first 50 seconds of the video where I clearly state “This information will arm you to be in a better position to do a successful strike!!” I told you EXACTLY what you needed to know. Please explain how that is selling out.
Judging by your like-dislike ratio I can tell that you've struck a nerve with your viewers. Honestly, you speak nothing but the truth. I think our best option is to go to the government & plead our case. Uber is too big now.
They need to be regulated.
Your comment is FACTS!
Uber said, Drivers are (the heart of our business) so what are you talking about case close. useless video.
This video explains EXACTLY what I'm talking about.
Yes the video is useless to brain dead morones who lube up and spread their cheeks for uber. The better question is why are u here?
Uber is for desperate folk. People don’t drive Uber or lift.
This comment is wrong. It's not based around facts. I appreciate you leaving it though.
Desperate folk? Shut 😂 the 🤬 hell 🙄 up!!! Don't ever look down on someone unless its to help them up.
