10 hours of back breaking work and plenty of cuts and bruises🤕..but the end result is incredible.
Our son William is here to help - he has youth and strength on his side (and he's not eaten as many Belgian buns as me 😋)

🏆👩 About us and our goals 👨🏆
We are Gill and Richard and we are both British.
In 2004 we moved from England to Austria. At the time Rich promised me that we would return to the UK asap.
In 2021 we were still in Austria and by chance we heard of an old unloved Victorian cottage for sale in Wiltshire, England.
The cottage was only just within our budget and we knew that it was going to be a challenging renovation project.
Our goals were "simple"-
1) Buy the house
2) Split our time between Austria (Rich's job) and the UK
3) Renovate and move asap
4) Retire to the UK and live happily ever after
These plans were delayed in February 2022 when Rich's employer asked us to move to Texas for 1 year. The plans were further delayed in March 2023 when Rich was diagnosed with cancer and he had to undergo 6 months of chemotherapy
In October 2023 Rich's cancer was in remission so we moved to the UK to start the renovation.

William looks exactly like Rich. And he’s a hard worker that gets the job done. I’m sure you’re both very proud of him. The back yard is pretty big. It’s amazing how much work you all accomplished. I’m sure all your neighbors appreciate all the hard work and progress you all have made since you bought the cottage. Go relax if you remember how to do that. 😆 Take care, see ya later.

@AlidaLloyd Hello Alida, the garden is definitely large (it's also made to look bigger by the camera)...I will measure it today just out of interest. What a difference that clean up made. The garden looks huge now. The BIG BOYS toy (Mulcher) looked like so much fun.
@katbar6066 Hello Kat, the garden is definitely large (it's also made to look bigger by the camera). the big boy's toy was fun and it was also a game changer - if I had rented the smaller one as I originally intended I would never have finished the job...so it was money well spent. We now need to keep working on the garden or else the brambles will be back before we know it. Thanks for your comment. Rich

That was such hard work for you both in the garden. Having William there to help was such a bonus as it is certainly back breaking to tidy up a garden which has not been touched in such a long time. Did you miss out on Belgium buns this week? 😂😂😂

I couldn't have done it without William - we worked hard and we laughed a lot - and we laughed a lot again the next day when neither of us could move (my back pain was so bad that I couldn't bend down...meaning that Gill had to dress me😊) With all honesty I can say that not one Belgian bun passed my lips....this time it was a lemon bun😋...but I want to cut back on the buns because I have gained quite a few kgs since the end of chemo. @@Bramblecottageuk oh gosh Rich, much like you 2, take your pick - indoor ongoing reno's, indoor re-organization & room switching, exterior maintenance, exterior repairs, bsmt & foundation repair, cutting down trees & shrubs, making space to plant more fruit trees & berry bushes (pick axe needed to deal with plethora of rocks, some very large) herb gathering/drying, putting up garden bounty, hopefully some jams, chili sauce & preserves, replacing foyer roof & hopefully eavestroughs & at least 1 window asap b/c our great white north weather's suddenly turned.... early hard winter here I suspect (sigh) welcome to life in remote north🤗😁

WOW! Every time an area was cleared, yikes, there was yet another area to be cleared, haha, I thought it would never be over for you. You and your son did a sensational job. Gill, who is the little sweet dog that visited?
Rich and William worked so hard. It was a really long day and they were both aching and exhausted. The gorgeous little dog was Jam. She is our daughters 12 year old cocker spaniel. She has the sweetest nature and is a joy to look after.
