hey, three years out, what are your thoughts on this system? Do you still run it? I am considering upgrading to a pertronix distributor for my 65 mustang with a 302. Please let me know what you think, thanks!
Good videos dude. I live in Mission Valley SD and have a 72 f100, shortbed, 3 on the tree, straightsix. Dig watching the progress of your trucks. Maybe I will run into you around town.
I found this channel today because I'm looking at a 1988-1991 F-250 2wd regular cab. I am pretty sure it has the EFI 351 in it. Sadly it's an auto though. I love your trucks. I would love to own one like any of them but we really don't have many solid trucks left in the northeast over 10-15 years old.
Love the videos man. My first truck was a 72 high boy, and I sold that and bought a 78 Bronco, then traded that for my 73 f250 and I daily drive my 69 f250 for a little while there. But I love the truck man, I've gone through too many to build anything so I'm finally just gonna keep my 73 and build it, I've got a 347 stroker I can put in it (freshly built) or keep the 390 and build it. But love the truck man for sure
I came back to this video because im looking at buying a Pertronix Ignitor and a FLame Thrower coil for my new car, a 1966 Buick Electra 225. I sold the Mercury back in October and I bought the Buick literally the day after. What are the benefits youve noticed with the electronic ignition? Any mpg improvement?
I have the petronix setup in my 350 sbc runs great but on the rare ocasion i have to use my wipers with heater and headlights it causes a bad misfire to the point it shuts off....i know its due to the low voltage going to the module while everything is on,was wondering if you have had any problems like this with yours any advice and help is appreciated thanks
Oh that wasn't the difficult part. My distributor is on the back of my engine and it was hard to get a crescent wrench on the bolt to take off the plate that holds the distributor. I just ended up cutting a Walmart crescent wrench in half to get at the bolt.
Yeah. 350 Chevy Small block. Awesome engine. Extremely easy to find parts for it around here and usually cheap too. On the downside was doing my distributor. It was awesome when I finally got it all together and I can pull some amazing speed. I hit 70 easily on a short stretch of road.
Hey, Im a newbie to older mechanics. ive got a question. The 390 in my '64 Mercury seems to have "blow-by" but Im not too sure its blow-by. When its running, white "smoke" comes out of the oil filler neck. (The stock valve covers are still on it and they dont have breathers.) Do you think installing breathers on both sides will help?
Southern Mechanics yes big time. If it doesn't have any room for it to breathe the pressure will blow the gasket causing a leak so I would either install the stock PCV valve on stock covers or do what I have and put in filters
I’ve been thinking about getting one of these distributors for my 66 f100 with a 352, but I have an aftermarket tach I would like to use. Did you have to do anything special to hook your tach up to this?
thecraig909 yea I got a 70 c10 pick up and like what ur doing with yours kinda ganna copy it with headers change it over to a four barrel and did what I did in this vid but don't got money right now. lol
I GIVE YOU A BEAUTIFUL GREETING!✌congratulation for your great work. I have a question. can I increase the power with pulstar spark plug and the performance with aldor? Tell me your opinión, please
where do you order all your parts from? , i just recently bought a 76 f100 with the 360ci as a project 3 days ago , and need many parts to get my old ford back on the road
peterpower049 im looking for cheaper parts , not nothing real expencive im seeing rockauto is pretty good but im just wondering if anyone here knows a better place
for my ford specific parts i use LMC but have been experiencing receiving damaged parts in the mail which is a hassle but if not thats good. Dennis carpenter is another good one, and then summit is for generic more standard parts or hop ups.
I'm currently restoring an 84 F150 with the 300 i6, would I benefit in upgrading to this distributor and coil, or should I go with the generic oem style
well im not so experienced in inline motors but because this is different than regular points, if pertronixs or some other company makes this product to fit that motor i would. the aftermarket has such a smooth power band and incredible throttle response, better mpg, etc..
Johnathan Williams it's basically the way the spark is delivered to each cylinder. With the pertronix is skips the whole mechanical system how the spark is delivered through the "points" and bypasses it with its own electronic system. Hope that kinda makes sense
Nice work dude but, get rid of that plastic fuel filter , I cant tell you how many cars have burnt to the ground because of those. There are metal ones that go inline just like those.
Hey man you inspired me to make a channel to document my f250 "build". I like watching your videos theyre very helpful especially considering I basically have the same truck just longer wheel base. Hopefully in the months to come i will have content on my channel. planning on doing an engine swap, paint, tires ect. You should check it out! #fordsforlife
dude you're truck sounds even more pissed off with the new part installed, that woke up the beast inside that V8, badass exhaust!!!!
haha thanks man, I know for a small block it sure is mean for what it is

The only thing I didn't like about this video was that it was to short... Haha, you're definitely a inspiration man!
thank you that means a lot to me! i'll work on longer videos!
I have a Pertronix I in my 1964 F250 pickup. I wonder how this will improve the way my truck runs.
Do you have a vid of what the limiter sounds like?
Good videos dude. I live in Mission Valley SD and have a 72 f100, shortbed, 3 on the tree, straightsix. Dig watching the progress of your trucks. Maybe I will run into you around town.

damn well i'll be selling my green truck here pretty soon so if you wanna come to cali and get it haha
Only a 45 hour/3000 mile trip. I've never left New England.
ohh youre wayyyy east. psh worth it

Is it still working on you're truck after these years without problems?
Reminds me of my old 77 F100 with 351 Cleveland and Fourspeed Ford truck box..Not a top loader but the fourspeed floor shift granny gear trans.

What engine did you have in when you installed this distributor
302 windsor
first comment. hi dude! i just bought a 71 ford with a 427 inside of it!
wow now thats a find!
thecraig909 not cheap tho! lol
I wish I still had my toploader 4 speed to send you. you need that extra gear
damn i wish you did too! thanks anyways!
do u ever plan on repainting the white truck to a different color?
just the roof due to rust issues but no i like that patina it ahs
Not sure if I missed it in a previous upload, but it looks like you're running the single chamber Flowmaster 10s?
yup two right off the headers
I had a hell of a time replacing my distributor! Yours is so easy to get to it seems.
as long as you mark what position the rotor was previously its a very easy install
Oh that wasn't the difficult part. My distributor is on the back of my engine and it was hard to get a crescent wrench on the bolt to take off the plate that holds the distributor. I just ended up cutting a Walmart crescent wrench in half to get at the bolt.
Horsepower Chevy block??? That sucks for sure
Yeah. 350 Chevy Small block. Awesome engine. Extremely easy to find parts for it around here and usually cheap too. On the downside was doing my distributor. It was awesome when I finally got it all together and I can pull some amazing speed. I hit 70 easily on a short stretch of road.
Horsepower that's pretty good man!
good job you made it look easy. waiting for your next project.
thank you, not all what easy but the install wasn't too bad compared to other things, thanks again

thecraig909 Ill add in filters. Im not sure where the pcv valve is on it. It should have one if im not mistaken.

that truck runs good not muck for ford but this one I like. i like what ur doing with it
thank you appreciate that. I've put a lot of time into making it run smooth and reliable cause it's still a daily driver
thecraig909 yea runs good
thecraig909 yea I got a 70 c10 pick up and like what ur doing with yours kinda ganna copy it with headers change it over to a four barrel and did what I did in this vid but don't got money right now. lol
Your truck is amazing. Sounds better.
thank you appreciate that!
thecraig909 you gonna do a Cam shaft an head work
Do you have a part number for that
I GIVE YOU A BEAUTIFUL GREETING!✌congratulation for your great work. I have a question. can I increase the power with pulstar spark plug and the performance with aldor? Tell me your opinión, please
that truck sounds beastly!! this makes me want to do a 72' f100 with a 302 swap so bad
the pretronix makes it run soooo much smoother, better fuel economy too!
thecraig909 one more reason to build it!!! lol
Are you still running this, or did it last 🤔
where do you order all your parts from? , i just recently bought a 76 f100 with the 360ci as a project 3 days ago , and need many parts to get my old ford back on the road
Summit Racing is a good place to start
peterpower049 im looking for cheaper parts , not nothing real expencive im seeing rockauto is pretty good but im just wondering if anyone here knows a better place
Cody Stevenson it will be hard to find upgrade parts for the 360 trust me I have a 76 with a 360, and when you can find em there expensive as fuck
for my ford specific parts i use LMC but have been experiencing receiving damaged parts in the mail which is a hassle but if not thats good. Dennis carpenter is another good one, and then summit is for generic more standard parts or hop ups.
thecraig909 thanks ill try them out , ive heard of lmc but my catalog hasn't came In the mail yet.
Are you planning on any other motor work
I'm currently restoring an 84 F150 with the 300 i6, would I benefit in upgrading to this distributor and coil, or should I go with the generic oem style

weres the big Dogg ford at
i need to buy one of these trucks they look fun to fix up and upgrade
do it you wont regret the end product
What does this do?
How did you learn how to work on engines? Are you all self taught?
We have a set on our new 62 Mercury Meteor Hot Rod!!!
what exhaust are you running?
what kind of headers do you have
theyre flowtech longtubes off summit. not bad for $140 but theyre a difficult install
currently swapping my 360 for a 302 with 390hp its gonna be sick
ooohh that sounds hella nice
thecraig909 only problem is idk what headers to use because its a 4x4 and a 302 wasnt an option.... any ideas?
Joseph Thornton block huggers?
Useful stuff was hoping to do ling tubes but idk what to use
Joseph Thornton a low profile header just might work better for preformance and space...
were did u get ur truck from
(the white one)
Dirty Chevy1988 off of Craigslist from a guy who inherited it from the original owner.
thecraig909 nice
I got a 88 chevy Silverado
rad truck dude
Nice work dude but, get rid of that plastic fuel filter , I cant tell you how many cars have burnt to the ground because of those. There are metal ones that go inline just like those.
yeah thanks for the reminder I put those in almost a year a go just to get it going I will re plump the engine with new metal filters.
That sounds badass man
thank you!
awesome truck your neighbors must hate you. lol
hooking up my future truck for me man
next a cam roller rockers and roller lifters
yea pretty much!
sick patina!
so I was watching motor trend, and they did a test with different cooling fans. Yea they rob like 14-20 hp. electric fans are the way to go.
I swear every video on this distributor nobody ever shows their wiring set up
get some custom headers
Never mind it a 302 got it
nice video
thank you
awesome toys !!!!!
thanks!
