Regarding veterinary practices, that corporate ownership is the problem just exactly like it is for human health care and it's ruining both kinds of health care. The losers are patients, doctors, all health care providers, and entire communities. The winners are all at the top, investors, CEOs, and all the corporate overlords. It's much the same in all US industries, the rich subjugating the rest of us more and more and more, I guess until we are all living in poverty. My question is then, where will the rich get their money when they have it all and we have none?
The expression "beat a dead horse" originates from the idea that once a horse has died, beating it further serves no purpose-no amount of action will bring the horse back to life. Metaphorically, the phrase conveys the futility of continuing a particular effort when the outcome is already determined or when further action is unnecessary. The phrase seems to have entered English usage in the mid-19th century, with one of the earliest known uses appearing in a speech by British politician John Bright in 1859. He used it to describe the futile efforts of some members of Parliament to promote a particular issue that had already been resolved. However, some historians suggest that the idiom may have been in circulation in British society before that, possibly inspired by earlier similar expressions. The imagery of beating a horse comes from a time when horses were integral to transportation and labor, and the futility of whipping a dead animal was easy to understand in a pre-industrial context. As such, it evolved into a broader metaphor for any unnecessary or wasted effort. Today, the phrase is commonly used to indicate that a topic has been discussed to exhaustion, and continuing to push it forward is pointless.
4:08 I've read a lot of reviews about TVs and there are some which are frequently sold as "renewed" or refurbished, which I have to assume are warranty returns.
24:01 I recommend giving them an old railroad number to mask your true Social Security number most places don’t need it if they do force you to have it then what I do is I pick a random Social Security number that starts with the following digits 700-728. This typically works as the color mentioned all zeros or ending in all nines are reserved for other purposes. Additionally, I would look at the privacy terms of service on either the website or at any of these offices and confirm that they’re not selling any data as well if they are selling your data at the office, I would strike out those amendments in the document before signing an initial next to it. If you find that they are selling your information and they didn’t actually look at the document you signed and crossed out you now have the ability to sue them and also remove your information off of their databases.
Not to add fuel to the fire, but I have first hand knowledge of a long time, but now deceased veterinarian relative that had barns and fences for his facilities paid for by the Rx companies for using and promoting their meds. This same thing goes on with your doc. They get trips and perks for their drug pushes. Just FYI. So yes they are definitely encouraged to push certain things for the bonuses they receive.
Veterinarians have the highest suicide rate of any profession, for many reasons: Unreasonable client expectations, huge student debt, compassion fatigue, the caring/killing paradox (we are the only profession tasked with ending the life of our patients), and access to euthanasia drugs. Yes, there are some vets who are unscrupulous, as there are in every field, but the vast majority of us are ethical, practical, compassionate, and try to do the best we can for our patients and clients.
I believe you do he’s talking about the rest that don’t. I too had a Veterinarian, doctor Havis was unbelievably kind. He retired. We miss him and those like him.
Hello. Regarding the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization program) requirement starting in 2025 for US citizens; you mentioned that US passport holders would be able to utilize the e-gates. This is incorrect as US passport holders have been able to utilize e-gates in the UK since 2019. I'm British and my husband is an American, and we travel to and from the UK often. My husband has been able to go through the e-gates at Heathrow since 2019.
Clark, you are right on about big business and veterinarians I had to delete my other post cause I was getting too emotional but like I said before you’re like 95% right it’s a privilege to you the other 5% I wait for you to correct yourself lol
Regarding student housing: Anytime you rent anywhere take pictures when you move in and when you move out as proof of the condition of the unit. Document document everything.
I really hate that everything is becoming electronic. I do not carry a internet connected cellphone when I travel and I never will. All this electronic ID stuff and facial ID gate is a disaster waiting to happen. I love traveling light and I will only carry a fliphone while on the road. I do not use any of these tap pay systems either. I hate this news so much that I may quit travelling overseas. It's such a shame. Finally, I really believe this will all hurt travel because people will now be required to get an overpriced cellphone and put their personal info at risk.
Great point! Many people don't mind showing it on their phone but aren't comfortable with someone walking away with it. 🤔 Maybe the solution is to carry both for a while. Use the digital one at places where you only have to flash it; but if they need to walk away with it, give them the physical license. 💚
I work in a NOC and we have a wall of 55 inch Samsung TVs to display information for our NOC. Each TV last on average about 18 months. Build quality has definitely gone down. I remember when TVs would last for decades and if they broke, you could swap out a tube and it would work again
The Hilton Honors program works for me. I am a lifetime Hilton diamond member and I book the cheapest room with points and always get a complimentary upgrade. Cavaet - Most of my Hilton stays are in Asia, not the States.
A word of warning about Amica: I switched to them last year for my home and auto. No claims made last year. Renewal for home has now come due for my midwestern home with a 25% increase. When I called seeking information about the price change I was told it was because I had a car accident. No car accident happened which was later admitted by them. The customer service was terrible and I never got an explanation. I requested a call back from someone higher up which they said would occur within 24 hours. I'm still waiting... Clark, mutual insurance appealed to me based on your advice, but I will be shopping my business around based on this experience with Amica--caveat emptor.
Whether or not the IRS is paying attention does not make violating the rules OK. An ethical person does the right thing always, whether being watched or not.
Americans eat too much processed food that’s the issue! Plain and simple! PS I would never fly Frontier again, they left my luggage behind and never compensated for items I had to purchase my first two days. They did nothing.
Dear Mike: I respectfully disagree with you and will not fly Allegiance, Frontier or Spirit. Not that the others are great, but I've flown Frontier and the cost isn't any better and the service was horrible.
Freezing credit has no bearing on credit scores, at least that's been my experience. I have frozen my credit since 2017 and always maintain a score above 800 and even hit 850 recently due to acquiring a mortgage.
Freezing your credit has no impact on your credit score. However, if you are shopping for car or home insurance, it may benefit you to temporarily thaw your credit to receive the best rates: clark.com/insurance/do-i-need-to-unfreeze-my-credit-to-shop-for-car-insurance/

Thanks for fact-checking, Clarkie! 💚

Your show scratches my itch! It answers questions I didn’t know I needed answers. Great job!
I've heard that the TSA is advocating for a delay of the Real ID until 2027. Not sure of the status of that request.

That’s true for any rental relationship!

You were correct about vets being pressured. We have seen it recently and it is heartbreaking.

Ignore that annual credit report nonsense. You have to have an account at all 3 companies anyway, so you can already see what info they have.
What we eat and zero exercise for the vast majority of Americans!

Kelly has missed the big picture. Yes, the majority are crooks.

NO! Zero excuse for the "annuity" garbage.
Clark ALWAYS stink.
What if your credit is frozen? If #1 factor of insurance costs is your credit score, having it locked negatively affects you? @clarkhoward
