Two things: that slightly "halting" 16th note samba rhythm that you do (especially on the caixa) does it have a name?
And tips for playing that on any kind of shaker?

Thanks, Hans! That slightly halting 16th note rhythm is known as “carreteiro” (literally, “trucker”), especially when it’s played on the tamborim, but the term can be applied to that rhythm played on other samba instruments, too. To get that feel on any instrument, I suggest delaying the 2nd note so that it is played closer to the 3rd note, and then anticipating the 4th note.
