Once again Linas, you’ve solved my problems… just today, I was scratching my head, and wondering, ‘What would Linas do?’ My QDX wasn’t responding, until I did your fix changing the attenuation to 0dB. Thank you my friend!
Thanks you solved a problem I didn't know I had and in doing so opened up my ham world to rtty. The qdx is a marvel. Your videos are great. Having fun catching up.
Excellent video. I love my QDX, and when using FT8CN, it's a great setup. But being able to run RTTY is a great thing. In the past, I have been a very dedicated RTTY contester...I still hold several QRP records. This renews my interest in this mode. 73 de KB2HSH
Linus, Thanks for showing parms for getting FLDIGI working with QDX. I have the 20-80M QDX put together and tested on 20m and 40M. I need to get and 84' Random wire set up to test 30, 60, and 80M. Will use it for FD this Sat. Doug
Thanks Doug! I'm very glad you've got your QDX running with FLDIGI! I wish you find many stations to get RTTY QSO with during the FD. If you make a video or so about your QDX success I'd be glad if you shared the link to one! GL! 73! Linas LY2H
Hello, thanks for watching! I use a Win11 8" CHUWI Minibook tablet/lap-top PC, model CW1526. It was important for me it's a 12V model, so outdoorsy friendly :). It's a few years old now, probably there are newer models currently on the market. HTH, 73! Linas LY2H
Hi Kenneth, yes, the attenuation could be THE problem. Please try doing exactly the same as it's shown in the video. If the trick doesn't work, then it's something else with your set-up. 73! Linas LY2H
Hello OM! As far as I get it, no extra software is needed, the Hamlib is there, you just need to choose it in the fldigi config window as your CAT method and tick the right boxes, as it is shown in the video. HTH, 73! Linas LY2H
Linus, have you tried N1MM Contest software to drive RTTY on QDX radio. I have 2 QDX's on order. The 80-20M and the 20-10M versions. I'm hoping they come soon. Doug,VE3MCF
Hi Doug, sorry for the late reply, I don't know why some comments only appear in the YT studio, not the general comments section:). No, I have not tried the MMTY machine integrated into N1MM logger with neither of my QDX's yet. I mostly run the N1MM in the conventional good old CW/SSB contests :). I think, it could be a bit complicated as QDX has got no VFO tuning. But it could be interesting to try out one day! I think, the new star- The QMX , could be much better suited for such a job. I have it on order, but the waiting time sucks :). Good luck with assembling your kits ! 73! Linas LY2H
Thanks Aldo! The little PC is a CHUWI Mini book tablet/pc ( it's got a touch screen and the keyboard part could be flipped over if used as a tablet). It's an older model, there must be newer ones now. It came with the Win10 installed and then upgraded itself to Win11 automatically. 73! Linas LY2H
Because fldigi has specific settings for the sound card, you do not need to set windows output for sound to be the QDX. In fact, you should not do so because then windows alarm sounds and stuff could be sent to the QDX and then over the airwaves.
Hi Linus. I'm having some fldigi trouble: I'm transmitting into a 50 ohm dummy load while I figure this out. I used your Hamlib settings, turned the volume up to max and set the fldigi attenuator gain to 0dB. When I transmit, the QDX LED doesn't blink in the nice 1Hz sine wave pattern. It blinks somewhat irregularly. What could be causing that? 73 David K7DMJ
Hello David, thanks for watching! As to your QDX problem, it could be many reasons. I would strongly recommend to read the excellent QDX troubleshooting article by Hans himself on the QRPLabs website and check every stage step-by-step. In case you have your QDX working just fine in FT8 mode running WSJT-X software, then , obviously, the QDX is all in order, and the problem lays in Fldigi and all the settings related with this app. I put in a video all I could find out myself about it :). The blinking LED is a very reliable way of self-testing in QDX. So, if you say it blinks once ( if I get correctly your description of blinking "somewhat irregularly"), it's a sign there is no audio signal coming from the Fldigi to the radio. First thing to check- if the QDX is selected as an output sound device ( it's in the video, in detail). I would also check again and again in my computer's Device manager if the QDX is recognized and assigned to the comport . I've also noticed that the order of starting matters. For me, the best functioning is when I first start the computer, then connect the power and the USB cable to the QDX and then start the desired app ( like WSJT-X, Fldigi or Putty for terminal). I don't know if this is universal, but for me it is so :). Finally, you might need the right drivers installed ( detailed info in the Troubleshooting article) if you run anything older than Win10/11 on your PC. If it's Win10/11, no extra drivers needed. I like your channel because it is pure content. Thank you.
Thank you for yet another great video, Linas !
Thank you very much for this video! I think I will finally find the patience to try and setup Fldigi again :)
Sure, that's what we do- getting the result through trial and error! Good luck! 73! Linas LY2H

Linus, thank you for this. Love the detail you put in this video.
Thank You for the QDX overview!!
Thanks it helps me work with fldigi too. Good work.
This is pretty much the same in Linux with my QMX, thanks!
I'll have to remember this when I finish my QDX build... any day now.😁
Happy First Power On!
Ive found you again after much searching, Great Videos Linus 73 Alan
Thank you very much!
Great video, Thank you! I have 2 QDXs, and will be ordering one of the new 20-10 mtr units. 73s

Hello. What laptop are you using? It looks like something I might could use. I like the form factor.

Thanks for the update, greatly appreciated! What model is the small PC you use? It looks ideal to replace my ancient Dell! 73 Richard G8ITB.
Hello Richard! It's a CHUWI Minibook laptop/tablet PC , preloaded with Win10. which upgraded itself later to Win11 automatically. HTH , 73! Linas LY2H
I have the same tx problem with WSJT-X. I'll go looking for attenuation??? there

If you are going to use Hamlib for CAT control, do you need to install any additional software, or does Hamlib get installed with Fldigi?

Hi Linas, my compliments for the UA-cam channel... A simple question.... What is the model of the little pc on right? Best regards Aldo
