Thanks for the kind words about our film. Was the hardest movie I've EVER worked on. 3 years, but I've/WE'VE never been prouder!!!
This is an INCREDIBLE video too!!!!
Thanks for your hard work!
@Alpha23TV THANK YOU ALL for watching it my friend! REBELS!!!!!
The movie was so good. I hope there's a sequel to this.
@@vicefamgaming Thanks so much my friend
Well done! This movie was a wild wide!
This movie was dope af. As a Blackman. I get why they didn't focus on the racist part. That was a given taking where the movie takes place. It was just diffrent. And he whooped ass without shooting someone. Good movie
Facts
My fav part was the fact that not once did he raise his voice
He did when he said “ I FCKING TOLD YOU” to the cop, when he found out his cousin was beaten in prison. Also when he said “SIT DOWN” to the police chief when he shot him with the bean bag when he was in the prison evidence room.
I try to consider letting people talk so they can give shit away or get tired. Part of it is also submission.
@@brucenatelee no you’re just an introvert Bruce
I don’t think anyone died besides his cousin either
He did like 3 times...I just watched the Sit Down yell part when he shot the chief with the Bean Bag lol....I get what you mean tho. The super calmness was awesome
This movie was so good. My wife asked me why I was sitting on the edge of my chair. She said "Why don't you sit back and relax?" To which I responded "This isn't the type of movie you sit back and watch." Aaron Pierre was phenomenal in this movie! I hope Pierre does big things because he may have the Midas touch.
I think you are right
I definitely need him in more movies!
Absolutely 💯
You paid for the whole seat, but all you need is the EDDDDDDDGE.
@@kashem425 Phineas and Ferb nice lol
This movie definitely had First blood vibes, the way one man takes on a town full of crooked cops. It was a really pleasant surprise and Pierre absolutely carries this well
Glad to see someone else caught that! I described this to my wife too as we were watching the first 30 minutes! It was really good, well crafted movie. Enjoyed it! I know Aaron can deliver in any role in any genre, but I think he's made for really good action storytelling!
And I've seen a lot of people be made that he went non Lethal but folks are overlooking who his character is, he's a solider first even though he wasn't on the front line he knows the value of not only a life but his and he knows how his situation would've immediately changed had he forgotten that.
My thoughts exactly
I hope Aaron Pierre finds his way back to Blade ... as Blade. Guy definitely has action/adventure chops.
Scratch Blade. I want him to play John Stewart. He would be perfect as a Green Lantern. He already has the eyes!
You are right. He definitely has the eyes for it @@mekkio77
@@mekkio77 My exact thoughts! He gives off John Stewart vibes the entire movie
Actually, he has very very menacing look sometimes. He can pull off a vampire with a good heart (or whatever character set Blade will have).
@@mekkio77 Tell you the truth, when they were being all secretive about who he was, I was expecting him to have super powers because of the eyes and going 800 mph on that bike.
Didn't know you could make a movie about revenge without the main character slaughtering his enemies, and making it great at the same time.
As a Marine, MCMAP is pronounced McMap (like McDonnell). Each letter is not phonetically pronounced.
It was killing me that no one was getting that right
That and not as cool as portrayed in this movie, but I guess if they made him a Raider it would have been a different movie.
He keeps his cousin's medical bracelet in his car, and doesn't start wearing it until he decides to confront the cops for their final showdown. I liked how calm and clear he is throughout the whole movie, which really highlights that no matter how civil you are, cops with egos will still overly assert their authority and abuse their power over civilians. I agree that his acting career will probably be on the rise after this, especially with how 'John Wick' of him it was to handle weapons with respect and accuracy.
The fact that it was a non-lethal action movie made it all the better. It was skilfully put together & the runtime/story/acting was fantastic. Obviously, there will be those out there who’ll say it’s no good because of the next-to-zero bodycount, but that’s what makes it so refreshing. Let’s have more of this character please (at least a trilogy)?!
…ALL HAIL NETFLIX’S ‘ALTERNATIVE’ JACK REACHER!!
I agree with EVERYthing you said, but the run time. I feel it could've been a smidge shorter. But, he was solid. I enjoyed the hell outta him. Until this video, I had forgotten where I saw him. In Old. I'm with you. I hope we get more of this/him.
totally agree!
This movie was intense! I didn't relax until it ended, and he was holding the DVR. 👏🏾❤ 20:46
Pretty solid movie...actually gonna watch it again tonight with my son.
Aaron Pierre as Blue Marvel🤯
i like what ur cooking🤔
Agreed
Blade, Spawn and Green Lantern too!
Definitely John Stewart Green Lantern vibes.
He'd be perfect for Blue Marvel!!
this looks like a very good movie to watch, but I don't think I can handle watching this because it makes my blood boil when corrupt officials are getting away with it even if it's only in the beginning.
Oh, that's an understatement. There were so many instances where I was so caught up in the moment that I realized I was getting angry over a movie, and then...."Wow, this is a GOOD movie" Idk what to tell you on how to handle those parts, but everything about this movie works, if anything, I actually want to watch more.
The pay off in the end is worth it please give it a watch and support these amazing film makers
I stopped watching 10 seconds in because I don’t want this movie spoiled for me and new Rockstars is covering it. You know it’s good.
It was a pretty cool movie
I surprisingly, thoroughly enjoyed it without not even knowing that it was coming out or what to expect!! Thanks so much for reviewing it!! Wasn't expecting a NR review and enjoyed the review as usual!!!!
Aaron Pierre killed this role. Me and wifey came across this movie and it was really good. Although disliked the way it ended, overall not bad at all.
There was a lot of story to stuff into a single movie. Netflix could’ve made this a 6-episode miniseries.
Then it'd be too much like Amazon's Jack Reacher.
This was a great film. Thoroughly surprised how good the final product was after reading up what the production went through. Aaron Pierre is gonna be a bonafide movie star, and I can’t wait to see it!
Underrate movie for sure
Loved this movie and first time I've come across Pierre but thought he was superb. I like a lot of others compared it to first blood but also crossed with a hint of Reacher.
Will look out for more from Aaron Pierre
THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME THE WRITING IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING IM SO HAPPY YOU GUYS ARE DOING THIS ONE!!!
Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Green Lantern! That would be pretty sick 🔥
As a Marine, MCMAP is pronounced MC-Map.
Thank you for your service. 👍🏾
As a Marine myself, I really enjoyed the movie.
Thank you for your service. 👍🏾
Thank you for serving I’m don’t support the reasons you guys have to fight but I would never downplay what you guys do thank you again for your service
Thats John Stewart right there!
GL CGI be like.. Nah...
Absolutely!
The Modern Rambo
One of the best movies on Netflix rn. Prob all streaming apps imo.
"E means Emergency"
I thought it was going to be "Execution." 😆
I honestly thought it was execution as well.
It reminded me of first blood
Kinda which is awesome ❤
The lack of violence dealt to the corrupt was incredibly disappointing.
I hear you but it makes sense
I actually think it improved the movie.
@@kcdavis5581 Exactly, if he had used lethal force, it would've made it satisfying just in that moment, but not an overall impressive movie.
It was like Batman level lack of realism though. Wish it was possible for individuals to be this OP in real life. Definitely felt better at the end for him not to die tho
The way I look at it, the fact that he was able to do as much as he did without hurting people is a no back to methods of de-escalation. The cops could be using. Also… Dude, he broke someone’s elbow!
The sad thing is. This happens a lot, especially in the south. Georgia is notorious for this at their airport and racially profiling people
This movie hit SO HARD !!!
Yoooo, had no idea this existed until you uploaded this. Saving it in my watch later until I watched this movie.
Watch it now, not later! Lol. Yea you won't regret it.
I loved how the movie was contained in a small town setting. Not every action movie about corruption needs to involve the Feds. It allowed a bit of realism and was able tackle real local issue. I was really surprised on how good this movie.
I loved this movie! So glad it's getting the recognition it deserves.
19:45 is called a PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver. The controversy is the potential of injury or death for the motorist or police stemming from even a traffic stop.
Damn fine movie.
Such a strong movie with a beautiful undercurrent
The movies are so underrated right now. Hopefully, it gets more attention from this video
Wish this was out in theaters.
This movie makes me feel like I was playing GTA and then I need to take down the police force 6 star myself😂
20:11 the cop that checked was the same one that escorted him 🤣🤣
Loved the movie (knocks on woods) franchise please
I love that hes listening to a Metal Mix...
Guys Guys GUYS this film is directed by Jeremy Saulnier and I have no doubt that this movie fkin Slaps because check out his other movies. All goated fr
Blue Ruin is on YT for free!!!!
Hold the Dark is unlike any movie I’d seen before! The shoot out scene alone is unforgettable.
This is a nice and welcome change of pace from the usual marvel content
“We’re all togerther now” 15:22
Aaron Pierre my beloved
Loved this movie, great change of pace and twist on a classic genre
I want to see him play Blade!!!!
Movie sounds cool. Nothing quite like tight combat choreography. Good breakdown. Keep up the good work.
Rebel Ridge is incredibly good. Great to see a movie with restraint, the action is amazing without just being all shooting. Aaron Pierre is amazing in this movie. Thanks for going over it in such detail.
Last week tonight with John Oliver did a whole show about civil forfeiture. It's real yes and police are horrible YES!!
Never realized that was “Mid Sized Sedan”! Definitely looking good with a short cut
16:50 feels like it’s unnecessary to show what’s on the tape. We’ve seen police brutality already.
Exactly, I totally agree
Saulnier does a great job telling a story of violence and revenge in a claustrophobic setting. Blue Ruin, Green Room, even Hold the Dark are all great examples of this. His use of framing and blocking with the cinematography creates a feeling of movement even when there is little action. He's a great director with a great critical track record, too bad his movies don't make a lot of money (especially the recent ones released on streaming platforms). He's definitely an inspiration for aspiring filmmakers.
thanks for making videos about cool, great movies like this
This movie had me on the edge of the seat, proper placement of scenes is the word🩵
Epic story, incredible actor and the way it was shot added such depth I haven’t seen in a movie for ages!
If you go through the Atalanta airport, thats not actually in Atlanta, you may get to experience Asset Forfeiture first hand.
This was refreshing from Netflix. I have made an effort to avoid many Netflix releases but i'm glad I took a chance and clicked Play for this one!
Im surprised New Rockstars did a breakdown for this movie. I love it.
Just watched and greatly enjoyed
F****ing Awesome! Please refer this movie to your friends so it can reach the top 10 all time list for Netflix and get this actor more rolls.
honestly glad they re casted it, this actor played the part Perfectly!!
Told myself I would give it ten minutes, sat through the whole thing. Thanks from Panama city Beach, FL
I learned about civil forfeiture years ago (thankfully not the hard way) and it is why I will never travel with more than $500 in cash. It's not worth it to risk anything more. It's legal armed robbery
There's a video online about this. American Veteran had his life savings to drop off to his daughters. Google "police take vets cash traffic stop". Makes me sick and not even my money
What If we just walk away, But then I was like nahh
The ending was somewhat disappointing. I would have like to see what happened to cheif. He is ovisosly good at getting away with things. So what happened? Will part 2 be his revenge
So glad you’re doing a breakdown of this! I loved this movie. I wish it was longer or maybe they’ll do a part 2!
Seeing NR suggest this on facebook convinced me to watch it. omg, i was so stressed out the entire movie. really good! this was a master class on tension
I stand corrected, I suppose I allow some emotion where emotion is needed, the rest of the time he was cool calm and collected
Aaron Pierre would make an excellent John Stewart Green Lantern!!
He definitely gives me Kang (The Conqueror) Vibes!! 🌀 Precise, logical & Powerful!
I enjoyed the hell outta this movie! I just wish it had more of him kicking ass and a WEEE bit shorter. BUT, it was a pretty solid movie.
This movie was SO GOOD, and I’m not even the usual target audience for this type of flick
If you liked this movie, I highly recommend checking out more of Jeremy Saulnier's work. He's directed quite a few other gems.
This movie was dope…
REALLY appreciate this breakdown…🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾✊🏾
Can you guys do the bikeriders? Comparison of the shoots they mimicked from the book would be cool
Saw this posted yesterday and it’s what made me watch the movie so I could then come back and watch this.
Loved it, was recommended it from Reason Roundtable podcast 2 weeks ago. I'm just waiting for "Qualified Immunitiy" to be the theme of the followup movie to this
Dude was basically ( someone else said this) a non lethal Jack Reacher.
This was an awesome movie that I just put on for background noise! Dude would be perfect casting as Jon Stewart for DC
This was so cool! Very walking tall esq in my opinion. Love the actor! He needs more roles!
He should be in marvel
He definitely gives me Kang (The Conqueror) Vibes!! 🌀 Precise, logical & Powerful!
If you think about it, this can be a sequel to karate kid 💀
Pretty similar to Walking Tall with The Rock
Probably the best movie on Netflix in 2024 I think they have a mini franchise here maybe a series or just a follow up sequel looks like they thought they had a winner in rebel Moon instead it was in rebel Ridge
I couldn't figure out why it was reviewed badly!? I loved it! The lead is😍😍. And it should be illegal for Don Johnson to look that good at his age!
I think you can take a guess or two
@intothefrayyo totally over my head. But that lead, I hope to see him in his own action series!
The movie reminded me of Jack Reacher mixed with Rambo. I highly enjoyed it.
It’s because of eyes
This movie was great
Enjoyed the story, action, and theme. Great movie!
I thought was a really well written movie myself! Super excited you were going to review it! However, the endi fell just a little flat for me. Idk like a false cliffhanger.. not real conclusion o such a good story…
Great choice for a breakdown !! Such a great film and yea man Aaron can get any MCU role he wants. T’Challa ?!?!
I thought it did a good job of showing how well non lethal force could be used.
This movie was so damn good.
He should play Jon Stewarts version of the Green Lantern
