Touch Base derives from Baseball. When you hit the ball and run, you have to "touch Base" before the player on the opposing team does if he has already caught the ball. The expression means to make contact with someone.

@@user-kg7co9vi5romg bald eagles can take dogs cats , I even saw a missing child case actually 2. 1 for sure a toddler was found with other bones of the bird .
There’s a case in which a couple left their toddler with their grandfather just out of view while fishing and the toddler disappeared without a trace and hasn’t been found . I think that was an eagle too .
I happened to see the cases back to back strangely , but they were so similar I think one shoe was found on one child and the other the pants were found inside out .
Nightmare fuel but I hope they get answers and it’s good to know they can really do that

I live outside of Seattle which is considered the center of coffee culture in America. We have tons of regular sit down cafes and drive-thru coffee shops. Drinking coffee on the go is just normal to us. In my area largely because we have so much competition between coffee shops some drive thru coffee shops will be what we call bikini baristas and it is easy to guess how they're dressed.

Not only are the cats in danger outdoors, but cats also can cause danger for other animals, mainly birds. In my city, it is illegal to let your cat run about the outdoors because they caused the extinction/endangerment of many native birds here. We used to have a ton of them. Now there’s barely any.

    • @dawnyoung8
      @dawnyoung8 Місяць тому

Yes but there’s another game where they throw back and forth between two bases and have to touch them with the ball before they touch base . When you don’t have enough players or you’re practicing running bases .
Also we say touch base to mean solidify plans . You touch base meaning talk to them to both agree about how you’ll move forward so you don’t have any problems

We shelter a stray. She and her 1 kitten showed up in my yard. Another stray attacked her before I could get her to trust me, so I took her (half dead, thinking it was too late) for treatment. Her kitten left after I got him fixed (boy, was he mad) and she's lived on our enclosed porch, with a heated little house with blankets. I'm allergic, so she'll never be my inside cat, but she's the queen of the back yard and never leaves.

You are a nice person. It is so hard for people who are allergic to them. Thanks.
We've adopted many over the years. Our neighbor who was moving said they were going to take theirs to the pound. My husband built her a heated house with a enclosed porch. She would loudly protect her home from any cat she saw coming her way (there was a window too). She somehow was injured later, maybe by another animal and that ended her outdoor life. We kept her inside and she lived until she was 21. Luckily we're not allergic.

Let's touch base means let's get together and discuss a particular topic. It comes from baseball meaning to touch the base or you are out. Getting your ducks in a row means to go over all your answers to a topic so everyone is clear on a subject. Can we circle back means, can we go back over a topic for clarification.

"Let's 'touch base'" simply means "Let's get together to compare notes." Or to just get together to see how one another is doing. It's also a baseball reference in a way. Which is probably why you're not familiar with the phrase. Baseball has 4 bases in which you run around to score points (or Runs) from, right? 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, and Home Plate. The phrase "Touch Base" is just simply a reference to those bases in a way that when you would arrive safely at each base, you would be touching the base, but in colloquial terminology it means like what I said above...it's getting together with whomever else is in that sentence.

Everyone is getting up at 5 or 6 am to work all day and go home at 5 (or whenever they let you go home) to take care of kids, cook, clean, get ready for the next day. Although people claim that Americans are lazy, we're extremely busy and that's why we have so many drive-thrus, to keep it moving. There's only so many hours in the day. Also, it is ILLEGAL for a business owner to keep the tips of a worker here.

Yeah. I think xiaomanyc has a video of corporate jargon at least him attempting it. He lives in nyc and teaches English to people at a school I think. I know he’s Jewish as he said he’s one but he married a Chinese woman. He literally learns languages as kinda a hobby and tries them out.
At least corporate American jargon isn’t Japanese business talk as that gets seriously complicated as it’s based on old Japanese which doesn’t exist anymore but it’s one giant roundabout way of saying things. There’s also male, female, and neutral ways of speaking then what rank you’re speaking to as it changes language so fast between people. Basically you speak one way to the ceo or president of the company but speak completely different to a coworker or section manager. It’s a complex web of what to say and when.
American business jargon is very neutral with a very professional demeanor. It’s just get straight into business without any pretense. I know a little bit myself but mostly through high school as my school taught business classes and you could graduate with a head start in corporate America.

Some restaurants have gratuity automatically added to the check if you have 8 or more people in your party.. also some restaurants and bars pull there tips every shift.. meaning they put all the tips on the shift you work and they split it with all the wait staff at the end of your shift.. but also food servers tip there bussers from there tips every day as well as bar staff if they happen to work where they have a bar/pub. At least when I was a server that's how it was.

People around me decide they don't want their so they just let them loose to go aroumd making babies in the alleys. Cats trapped inside are not healthy. My cats come inside for bad weather or to sleep. They follow me around outside and will stay on my heels for walks in the woods. I got a housecat that was declawed and had never been outside in its 3 year life. I let Tinkerbell outside the first time and she became a killing machine. I had her another 10 years before she passed.

in most of the U.S your cats will be taken by Coyotes . I saw a kitten swooped up by a Hawk. I keep my cat indoors.

Cats are not native to most the world keep them inside. They follow us because they evolved to be that way. Dogs are North American, we have many species of wild dog.

When food is delivered by UberEats or DoorDash, the tip is separate, and it goes into the driver's account. I'm not sure how it works if the driver works for the restaurant.

I live in a suburban neighborhood with a lot of nature and a nearby forest. I have to keep my cat inside because coyotes will eat them.
