This just made it click for me. I could not figure out why air would be traveling down into something that was already high pressure, and traveling away from low pressure; it seemed like it should be the opposite. No other video I'd watched yet explained the 3D component and now suddenly it makes sense. Thank you!

The direction of circulation of the low and high that he explains are only true in the northern hemisphere - in the southern hemisphere they are reversed. Highs are counterclockwise and lows are clockwise
If I got it right, this would also mean that wind shear (18.000 feet and above) is one of the factors affecting or influencing the development of high and low pressure systems? Because on the other hand, convergence or divergence winds (southeast or northeast trade wind e.g.) are winds which occur at sea level and these are the winds which also rush towards low systems and blow away from high systems...

Jinlue Song Most models show a vertical convergence of descending mass circulation cells. I'm assuming the Coriolis force converts movement into a horizontal vector.
Coriolis force in the northern hemisphere makes the winds turn right of the lowering pressure levels -- otherwise we'd have winds constantly from the south to north (look at a 500 mb height contour map to see what I mean). The "turned" winds are called geostrophic winds... but it gets more complicated than that when you start to consider vorticity, ageostrophic motions, jet streaks, cold pooling aloft... etc.
I thought I knew about this stuff. seems to have changed since I was a kid. Baro drops you get rain baro rises you get sun you get the point. but why does it seem to clear up and we get less rain when the baro drops? yes I said drops. I have a chart of the baro readings and the rain gets less and less of a chance. for a example look here well it wouldn't let me list it. anyways the baro goes down and the rain goes away. signed confused

I explain it to my students like this: There are two locations: Surface (the air near the ground) and Aloft (the air higher up in the atmosphere). Something I’ve learned though is that a student wants a less vague definition of Aloft. In Meteorology, Aloft can mean anything so long as it’s not at the surface, so it’s hard to commit to a more firm definition. For the purpose of what he’s talking about in this video, Aloft represents the Tropopause, which is where the jet stream is present. The height of the tropopause varies, but I usually say it’s around 11 Kilometers, or about 36,000 feet... about the height that planes would fly.

If the air is more dense, the smoke will be more buoyant. Higher pressure is more dense. Probably not that simple though.
